To my eyes, the new U2 : UV artwork has a similar aesthetic to Turrell's works. I imagine that the Sphere could be a tempting venue for him to explore the immersive qualities of light and colour. Note: I'm a fan of Turrell's work, though was unsuccessful making a reservation to see his Akhob exhibit in Vegas during our trip at the end of September. I got a small peek at his work at MASS MoCA last year, but was dragged off by my very bored family. What I saw was cool though! It's still there. Maybe I can head back. https://massmoca.org/event/james-turrell/
Subscriber Trilo Posted September 10 Subscriber Share Posted September 10 There has not been any word of U2:UV merch being sold online, but historically the band has made that kind of stuff available on the U2 shop afterwards.

I can appreciate that there's bitterness when you can't make it work for a show (I get frustrated too when there are bands and tours that don't stop in my town, I can't just jet off to go see bands), but it is being done as a free exhibit with no concert ticket purchase required. And while top end platinum tickets and packages are quite spendy, they're well below what other big Las Vegas headliners have been commanding. Since it's the launch event for a one-of-a-kind venue they didn't have the flexibility of taking it with them to cities all over the world, they are geographically constrained to the one place where a Sphere venue has been built (another is in the works for London, but currently still in planning permission stages). I anticipate that we'll see fan-shot videos of Zoo Station and the Sphere shows soon enough, and hopefully the band will be going to some lengths to try and film and record the shows for future release.

Definitely picking up on the Turrell vibes as well! I've seen his work throughout the states (CHI/Mass MoCA/Houston/Vegas), as well as a few spots in Japan.) It wouldn't surprise me if they did try to partner with him given U2's proclivity to work alongside artists for live shows and Turrell's desire to get as much cash as he possibly can for Roden Crater, I guess we'll have to wait and see!
