So I was reading one of the threads about Bono calling Chris Martin a wanker and somebody mentioned a bunch of current bands and how they are or not relevant and that got me wondering what new bands are good.

Cause I don't really listen to anything new, I used to listen to Coldplay, but turns out I only like one of their albums lol My playlist consists of U2 (duh), Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Creedence, etc... and Ella Fitzgerald Sings Cole Porter lol I also have some brazilian artists, but most of you guys probably wouldn't know them and it's just old stuff too.

Most new things I listen don't seem all that great, it all sounds the same to me, but maybe I kind of aproach them with a bit of prejudice... I liked what I heard from The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand and Scissor Sisters but I don't really listen to them.

So, what current bands do you guys listen to?

Check out Kings of Leon, TV on the Radio and Vampire Weekend

I am adamant. Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Broken Social Scene, The Hold Steady, The Magnetic Fields, The National, The New Pornographers, Rilo Kiley, Spoon, The White Stripes suck hard.

Your fascination with their faceless, melodyless "cool" music is baffling to me. Also, they suck live.

WTH?! I think I have been living under a rock, I haven't heard of most of these!

Will give them all a check, cause although old music is great, the artists aren't working anymore or not as much so there's never anything new and you end up getting sick of listening the same stuff a bazillion times! lol

Thanks for the tips guys!

When you get to be my age, it's grim going when I sort through my (way too large) library of albums and CDs: "Dead...dead...broke up and thendead...OD'd...flamed out after their third album...dead...went to Vegas...brain aneurisym...MIA...dead, suicide...became a Hare Krishna...original singerwon't perform anymore...haven't released a decent album in 20 years, might as well be dead...drank himelf to death..."

Like I said, grim.

Of course, whenever I discover a new band or singer who's got something about them, I wonder how long it will be before they end up on the list...
