What U2 did for our kids 1st concert, amazing!

jamiegreen

I have been a U2 fan since I was 14, and being 42 now, figured it was time to take our kids to their first U2 concert. And what an incredible thing U2 did for us;

We had floor tickets for all of us, it was too expensive a trip for all 5 of us after driving 12 hours to get to Montreal, hotel, etc. My kids are 15, 10, and 7…anyhow, the kids couldn’t see that well so we were at the very back (behind the control booth) our two youngest on our shoulders.

Then something happened that created the most magical evening we will never forget.

After the 3rd song, one of the U2 crew members came over and told us to follow him, and thinking we were in trouble because we had the kids on our shoulders. He lead us out of the general admission area and took off his headset and asked for our tickets, I gave them to him and asked why, he smiled and gave us 5 different tickets and said to go section 122, someone there will direct you.

We said thank you of course and thinking they placed us in some open seats somewhere so we weren’t obstructing others view, walked to section 122.

But section 122 was close to the stage, VIP close, and sure enough once there, security directed us to 5 seats in the VIP section in the very first row!!!

Then the guy who gave us the seats actually came down to that section (from where he was on the other end of the venue) to MAKE SURE we made it there. I could have cried, you should have seen the look on our faces, the kids were simply beaming and our fellow U2 fans around us, were amazed as we were with our story, and were chatting us up and the kids, they were awesome..

Sure it’s the music, but it’s things like this that make U2 what they are. Thank you so very much U2 and crew, especially that amazing man who did this for us last night. I’ve had my share of fantastic U2 experiences over the years, but you made our children’s first experience incredible and it is something WE will never, ever forget.

They are still asleep as I post this, and when they wake up, we will get ready to take them to their 2nd show, and while from the floor again, I will be hoisting them higher, singing louder, and clapping harder, I know my kids will as well.

Thank you U2, you never stop creating magic for all of us.
