  1. Hi all, after speaking to fellow fans, we thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated thread in one place to list all of our ideas for future subscriber gifts and subscriber specials. In the past the mod team have asked us what the fans would like to see, so having all our ideas in one place would be a good idea. The purpose of this thread is to provide constructive and realistic ideas and suggestions. I'll go first. Subscribers Special - Pro Shot footage of a live song performance - once per month Using The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 as an example we can see that U2's social med

  4. Long post...but as many know, Rattle and Hum means the world to me, and I’m sharing this for probably the 269th time. Gloria drew me in in 1983 and I was a fairly casual fan until 1988. But I worked at a movie theater when the movie came out and as the saying goes, the rest was history. I remember we got the trailers in to promote the movie and there were several of us that were curious to see what it was all about, so after we added it to one of the movies, we went down into the theater to watch it. We had it set up on our biggest screen and I will never forget the feeling that came ove

  6. Some preshow reading. Not meant to be a downer, but a look at survivors just over 5 years out from the attacks. https://www.dw.com/en/bataclan-attack-how-survivors-cope-with-the-trauma-5-years-on/a-55543272 Most of us probably remember it as it was happening. We watched in shock. We worried about the band, the fans, our friends. Today, may be a healing day for some, or ripping off a bandaid for others, but either way, we will be here to carry each other. If you haven’t read @Madfl3a’s account of those days, I highly recommend it. https://www.u2andcoffee.com/2016/06/10/paris-mon-amour/

  8. I think that was one if you look at the right side of the stage, directly under the lamp you can see side stage. (Photo credit to someone else, not mine) Here it is in one of my photos, right there at Bono. I can say that the floor was shaking like crazy and any video footage would have been highly affected by it. I remember somewhere between I Will Follow, Out of Control and Electric Co, the floor was shaking so much, my friend and I held on to each other to keep from falling. I remember thinking that if the floor collapsed, at least I was having the time of my life.

  9. Physical formats create the pleasure of listening music at home, it´s my opinion. Still purchasing vinyls, CDs and DVDs.

  10. Opinions, ideas and point of views are not monolithic entities - they can be revised over time and changed and adjusted when it applies, even to a point in which a total change of course or an opposite direction is an obligation. What may have been acceptable some years ago is not necessary what is acceptable now... after all, no one is the same person that was years ago. The same applies for the use of certain words, like the one was bleeped on this broadcast... Maybe this article could be of interest... I think it explains clearly why it was wrong for Patti Smith to use it, then...

  11. Can you believe that September 25th marks 44 years of U2? Looking around the socials, there are several things going on to celebrate this occasion. Right here in the Zoo, we have a couple of things going on. Tomorrow, (Friday, 25 September), we have the 4th annual (if my calculations are correct) U2 T-shirt Day: https://zootopia.u2.com/forums/topic/41325-u2-t-shirt-day-25-september-2020/?tab=comments#comment-1198471 On Saturday, we also have a listening party for The Unforgettable Fire, here: https://zootopia.u2.com/forums/topic/41346-u2getherathome-a-celebration-of-th

I've had enough of Irish Americans who haven't been back to their country in 20 or 30 years come up to me, and talk about the resistance... The revolution back home, and the glory of the revolution, and the glory of dying for the revolution... Fuck the revolution! They don't talk about the glory of killing for the revolution... What's the glory in taking a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and children Where's the glory in that? Where's the glory in bombing a remembrance da

  26. One of my favorite U2 stories was for this tour. I got tickets for the Staples center on Nov. 1st, 14th row behind the stage. Was a bit bummed to be looking at their backs the whole show... but, hey, we're in the building right? Turns out the first 13 rows behind the stage were collapsed to make way for the stage, making row 14 actually row 1. Then Bono spent half the show singing to Larry because his birthday was the day before. Absolutely amazing. Here's one of the many pictures I took, makes me wish digital cameras were better back then!

  27. Well ... That's been fun eh ? Pretty emotional right now so i'll try to be quick. Thank you. All of you. So so much for turning this idea into a reality, and a brilliant one Those watch along really meant the world to me during those hard times and they have proven once more that we get to carry each other. Some people told me that i'm a U2 fan and a U2 fans fan. And it's true, i love this band just as much as I love this community and this whole thing is the perfect example of why I do. Stay safe, stay strong. Don't let the silence settle though. Keep being those vibrant

  29. As I'm only 23 and again as I've said, probably the youngest person here, I haven't been able to have the experiences other people here have had and sometimes it makes me sad, but I'm happy to be here now and not later. So happy birthday to my favorite singer and here's to many more years! And here's one of my favorite pictures and a nice throwback... I've been trying to draw for it for a few days.

  33. I completely agree with all of the above - since JT got a double dip on Deluxe Editions, I fully expect AB to get the same treatment. (I hope that there will be more that is unique to a new AB Deluxe set than there was between the two JT sets (frankly, I thought the 2007 JT set was better than the 2017 version)). I also think that a tour supporting a new album and a AB anniversary tour are not necessarily mutually exclusive. You could easily do both: AB in full, selections from a hoped-for new album, “Streets” w/ a handful of other classics...and there’s a complete setlist! 😎 I also

  38. It's time for me to talk about my memories:😃 In 1988, I was only 7 years old; that means I only started being a U2 fan much later. But one thing I can say for sure is that Rattle and Hum is where everything started. To be more specific, 2000 was the year. I was living with my sister, brother and cousin in Porto Alegre (the biggest city in Southern Brazil). We were all living there because we were studying at a Federal University, except for my cousin (who was taking a course to pass the “SAT” these Federal Universities require - which he, unfortunately, did not pass by the way. He ha

An amazing end to a fantastic idea from @Madfl3a These are difficult times for us all and the U2 DVD viewing has been a highlight of each week (even if I have to get up at early o’clock- its totally been worth it) Thanks to everyone (everyone !) for their camaraderie, jokes & memories over the past weeks. It’s been awesome- U2 fans are the best. Lets hope its not too long before we are all hanging out in a GA queue waiting to see U2. I hope you & you’re families stay safe and well.
