  1. Hi all, after speaking to fellow fans, we thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated thread in one place to list all of our ideas for future subscriber gifts and subscriber specials. In the past the mod team have asked us what the fans would like to see, so having all our ideas in one place would be a good idea. The purpose of this thread is to provide constructive and realistic ideas and suggestions. I'll go first. Subscribers Special - Pro Shot footage of a live song performance - once per month Using The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 as an example we can see that U2's social med

  2. I would like to see more content and value within the subscriber specials. They could release a live show every quarter for subscribers only, available to download as MP3s and to stream, but not physically as this would be too big of a cost and would have to be saved for the yearly gift. If the U2.com model looked like this I wouldn't complain at all: Yearly gift - available digitally and physically. Q1 Subscriber Special - Live Recording January - U2.com release a list of shows fans can vote for February - End of February voting closes March - U2.com release the live recordi

  5. I’ve admittedly been a harsh critic of several of the past U2 fan club releases, particularly remix material that has been available elsewhere (e.g., “Duels” and the Desire/When Love Comes To Town 3D remixes with unimaginative artwork); and odd-sized prints that cost significantly more to frame than they are worth. Sorry; I never need another U2.com print. As a vinyl collector, I prefer vinyl as the physical format created for fans. While the 10-inch singles are nice and have typically had tremendous artwork, they’re more of a novelty and do not hold a significant amount of audio.

  7. I would like to see some more frequent stuff for paid up subscribers. maybe every so often just give us a download of a live track(s), unreleased studio track(s) from an old session, a new song even. If that song were to turn up on a studio album a year later and we had the demo or early version it wouldn't be the end of the world. The watch along video streams are always ones we will have bought so how about one that has never been seen? How about being able to download a full concert every so often? Finally, I have been saying this for a while, the U2 at the BBC box set - mayb

  12. Music. Music. MUSIC. Music is why I like U2. I don't like U2 for the books, the prints, the T-shirts. They're all fine, but those aren't why I like U2. Physical versions of download-only releases such as The Eternal Remixes, or Ahimsa. CD, 12", or 7" - but if its a 7", you need more than just a 2 track 7" to justify the subscription fee. Maybe a 10th anniversary, CD version - or coloured vinyl variant 12" - of Wide Awake In Europe. It's the only release that many of us don't have. Secondhand prices of it are simply absurd. It'll fill a gap and still please the trainspot

  14. I dont have a problem with the content as such, the issue i have, personally is the format. CDs? It's 2021. think it should be on Vinyl. I'd be happy to pay say $70 per year, instead of $40, to make sure it's vinyl. The 2015 gift was on vinyl. 2017 was on vinyl. 2021 is on CD...

  24. I like listening to early demos of tracks (Kindergarten Achtung Baby) and even sound checks because I love the raw form. So demo albums would be a great win for me. I think u2.com subscribers or people thinking of subscribing aren't exactly your casual fan (especially in quiet non touring years) so risks can be taken! If Bonos voice doesn't sound great or The Edge's guitar is off, we won't care, we'll love it! Another good gift idea, which other people have alluded to would be a high quality picture book (like that really expensive product design book Apple released a few years ago), with

  25. You should take a look at The Alarm's new fan site: The Alarm Central. https://thealarm.fan.direct/web/wall It just started up, but it's got every studio album available, links to videos, swag, chats, etc. A pretty comprehensive fan experience. I understand U2 is too big to have weekly chats on Zoom with their fans, but I think the overall experience could be improved a little bit, as many have said, with regular access to more music and videos on the site.

  27. Music needs to be the first priority. I think there should also be the option that subscribers should be able to buy subscriber gifts from previous years if that makes sense. So for example, i joined in 2014, so missed out on U22, Artificial Horizon and From The Ground Up: Edge's Picks to name but 3. These 3 releases go for £50+ on Discogs. Obviously there will be subscribers who will have these (And many earlier gifts) so it'd be completely optional. The prints in 2016 were great, but i simply don't have the space for them currently.. Also as others have said, the nugs.net

  30. I for one am happy with CDs and would like to see the gifts continue in that medium. I prefer audio over video. I prefer unreleased material over releases material. And I love previously unreleased live stuff. Would love a CD of all the early demo tapes. All of them, not just the three songs done for iTunes. We know RTÉ has some of the early in studio sessions as well. Something like that would be top of my list. But I’ve been really happy with most of the gifts. Except the prints, sadly those are still in a tube somewhere.

  31. I can only fully agree with the original post. There’s nothing worse on u2.com than getting a short clip of a song live knowing they must have filmed the full song and that we’ll likely never see the whole performance. I’d genuinely rather not see anything than a 30 second teaser. Also for next year a zoo tv show from early in the tour is a perfect idea. These shows are amongst the best in the bands history. Stockholm would be a great obvious choice. However, it doesn’t even need to be as specific as sticking to a certain show or tour I just want them to keep on making the fanclub gift a live

  36. You paid to subscribe. You should write whatever you wish. We're not always going to agree. It doesn't have to be a bad thing. My approach is that the gift was announced and is what it is, no matter the year or the gift. I have always thought a future gifts thread could be a good thing. All our wishes would be in one place. I wanted this gift to be a DVD of an American EI show. Even though I did not think it was going to happen, I still hoped. Creating a new thread is not something I am particularly good at doing. I suggest it and hope someone will. As much as I wish you could get Fr

  39. Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep - Poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
