Tracy sent me a very nice message.  I read her posts.  It's apparent she's doing her best to solve a problem.  I'm staying out of heated arguments henceforth.  I was wrong.  I want to say that Tracy was very sincere and I think she's trying to do good.

Thank you. No harm done and none taken. Love all the passion we have for this band. I welcome advice and suggestions from all regarding how we can improve on this numbering system until venues and/or bands address the "issue". I say that word "issue" delicately because at the end of the day, we all have bigger life problems and it is the music that helps us deal and cope.  Thanks again for your words.

  2. There won’t be any line ups. The venue is considering  a designated place for sign ins 24 hours before the day of the show on their property. So anyone and everyone that shows up will sign in and leave. Come back the day of the show which is 8:00 am and we will line up based on numbers to prevent chaos and promote safety. This way it follows their policy of not lining up before the posted time on their website. However, if they decide to not allow the sign in on their property,  they understand it will be done off property and we will line up at 8:00 am day of and they will at this point it appears, recognize the numbering system. They will finalize and make their final decision approximately 10 days before the show and email their decision if they will allow us to go sign ins on the property. Nothing is 100% full proof but at the time, this is the fairest way to approach a numbering system instead of 500-1000 fans  showing up at 8:00 with no order. And I’m really trying to coordinate an easy and fair way with little hastle to the fans or venue. My office shares the same parking lot as venue and one of the event managers there contracts with my office and I was able to get a face to face. I have no alterior motives. If we work together, and most do, the process can work.

  3. PLEASE SHARE this post in ALL Fan Sites: MEETING UPDATE with Infinite Energy Arena. I met with the GM and the Mgr. of Guest Services today (face to face) at 1:00 pm. First, my goal was to represent our U2 Fan community with respect and our love for our Band. I hope I achieved this and had the best interest of all of us at heart. The meeting went very well. Both were so kind and thoughtful to our process and as the meeting progressed, I could tell that they were very interested by the questions they posed, in wanting to understand the process. I relayed that the purpose of the U2 Fan Run Line is to promote, Safety, Fairness, and prevent Chaos. I told them that while is not 100% full proof, it is the best system we have come up with and that this is a win win for both the Arena and the Fans. What do you need to know at this point for the ATL show in respect to the line? I left there proposing that the Venue designate an area for 2-3 Line Runners that will handle sign-ins 24 hours before they allow fans to arrive on the property which is 8:00 am the day of the show. So that means the line would start at Sunday, May 27 @ 8:00 am. It was made clear that in no way can the line start and or be considered to be honored by the arena for any time before the time I just stated. We would then come back for check in/roll call at 8:00 am the day of the show and that is when we do the roll call and line up based on the sign in sheet. This is what was proposed to the Venue today. The GM and Guest Services Manager are now going to do some research and discuss with his boss and his Security Team to get final approval and then will reach back out to me. I assured them both we will respect any and all rules and there will be no congregating. If he comes back and says "No" to having the sign in on the property the day before, we will meet at another location close to the arena and do the sign ins there and the Arena is fully aware of the Fan numbering system and it appears at this time, they will work with us. He said they will get back with me with the details at least 10 days before the show. Then once we know, we will spread the word of exact location of the sign-ins, shift line runners and exact time of the roll call the day of the show (while it is 8:00 am we can get on the property, we may need to show up a bit earlier to line up). We will share the Fan Run Line information everywhere we can think of and expect all of the community to do this and spread the word. I do know this, again with the 8:00 am line up on the venue property, that once the wristbands have arrived at the venue, they will distribute the official wristbands some time that morning they believe, and then we can leave and come back late afternoon (exact time TBD by venue). I hope folks are feeling a sigh of relief because knowing and understanding the U2 ATL GA Fan Run Line and that we are NOT going to do this days in advance. It will be done fairly. Stay tuned as I get the official direction from the Venue. Enjoy the show...................1f642.png:)

  4. Alma, who cares if u know me? and that is not jack's first album, btw. He has had over 10 and won 9 Grammys. And no, if "revolutionary" means earth shattering is sharing a movie trailer as some big announcement, then Jack by no means is revolutionary.

Well isn't it nice then that no one SAID they are?

Uh..& excuse me...but do I even KNOW u? U know me? I didn't think so. On the other hand, I do know who Jack White is - as in the artist w/the debut album 'Blunderbuss' (which I didn't think was the most revolutionary thing on the planet, imho).

Blunderbuss is an excellent album and if U2 went off in that direction instead of the overblown shite they've put out the last 10 years then i'd be a happier bunny but nevermind horses for courses and all that jazz as they say

Starting w/the Drums you hear at :58 - U2! Love Is Blindness. (I checked the list of musical artists at the end of the movie trailer & apparently U2 music was just in this trailer - not in the movie itself.)

    Thats jack white btw

Gibbo, I know Jack Black - as in the 'School of Rock' (or whatever that movie was). I'll have to look up Jack White. The guy in the hat reminds me of that guy in the beer commercials 'the most interesting man in the world.'

For feck sake...anyone who doesn't know who Jack White is has had their head so far up U2's arse that they don't know other "relevant" artists.  Jack Black and Jack White are not the same.  GAWD.. If you don't know who he is, don't even bother.  Just go back and wait for the next big announcement from this place.  FFS.

  8. Gibbo, surprised the U2 Nazis have not deleted your post YET.  I posted this in our U2 Facebook Group...yep, an area that fans actually congregate in...and we don't have to be mislead that something special is about to be announced for us to actually go and chat with each other...my 2 cents worth below...

The only relevance for me regarding U2 at the moment are the friendships created which are relevant. I avoided the hype today from the U2 camp because I have lost interest. Bread crumbs aren't enough anymore. I can get full blown pizzas from other artists who are relevant because artists such as Jack White, Arcade Fire, etc., don't try to be and for this reason...they are "relevant".  U2 it is about The Music.  The band has lost sight of this it appears.  And your PR people should be fired.

  9. @Big Wave, I receieved an email from LiveNation stating they had received my inquiry.  They said I was using the wrong format when entering my phone number???  I shared with them that it NEVER gave me an error message...it would always say the error was "credit card declined".  But, it is neither here nor there.  They said as a courtesy, they were renewing my membership and it appears they are shipping me my subscription gift.  Big Wave, thank you for you assistance as well in this matter.

@Gibbo, I know I got long winded but that is the only way I know to be when talking about U2 and Jack White in the same context.

@Uncle B, I'll bring you the official to copy to sign when I see you in a couple of weeks... ;-)

  10. Per Gibbo's request...(and I quote, "it will fall on deaf ears")...But I will do it because just like being active in our communities, voting, etc., etc., we have a responsibility to "do" and "speak up" for by little acts are great things accomplished.

I belong to several fan club websites for various artists like most of us do (or at least I hope U2 is not the only band you listen to :)).

First let me state, that at one time I ADORED this place...and ADORE is an understatement.  This place will ALWAYS hold a special place for me as I have by far met the best friends I could ever ask for.  So U2.com, I thank you for the era when this place was so inviting to cultivate friendships among the greatest band in the world.  But......

U2, while you are so big, I understand (as most of us do) while you cannot micro manage every detail of your empire, certainly in your grasp of folks, you have people you can hire and run this place.  People who love U2 like we do.  People who have a vested interest. People who understand the necessity of having a U2 community where we can come and have a meeting place, one where we could speak more freely (but still with some bounaries), and one that was easier to maneuver. I mean are all these different forums/areas or whatever you call it really necessary???  I guess if the hundreds of thousands of fans that are members here would come in and chat, maybe it would be necessary...but really it is not.  U2, and speaking to The Edge now ;) , go take a look at your buddy's web site...

    Jack White... www.thirdmanrecords.com

While I understand Jack does not have the magnitude of fans, he still has a good bit worldwide and manages various artists and has them on his website as well at Third Man Records in Nashville, TN.  Because Jack's site is affiliated with "his" name and anything affiliated with his name, he runs out of "his empire" in Nashville and is personally responsible for.  And as shy and awkward as Jack can be at times, he understands the importance of keeping in touch with his fans and will come on and chat with us.  The folks that run his place, they personally know Jack, hence, they are connected with Jack and he with them and they in turn, Jack and his employees, provide a well run website with the fan, the consumer.  These folks have a vested interest in Jack and understand that "we, the fan" give them a pay check.  I have had a couple of incidents where I had to call and/or email.  And I cannot tell you how nice it was to have a personal touch...even so much that I had lost my receipts for some RARE vinyls (and anyone who knows anything about Jack White, knows that he is a master mind at creating RARE vinyls) and when I stopped in to Jack's store in Nashville, TN to explain that I had lost my receipt for this vinyl (which I had purchased two), the lovely Third Man employee says for me not to worry, they knew/recognized me and believed me (this would never happen with LiveNation).  My point is, the CONNECTION to the artist and the fan.  Live Nation CANNOT provide this.  But no worries, there are enough U2 folks that U2 knows, that could run this place that have the "vested" interest.  While there will always be issues, it would be a HUGE start, in fact, probably the remedy.

U2, one day someone will replace you but WE will always be here.  We WANT to come back here like we used to.

    Tracy

Been a long time since I posted in here and my experience today, just confirms even more my reasoning why I don't.

U2...listen to your fans.  You have a shitty website and a shitty company who manages your website.  I have tried approximately 15 times today to renew my membership as today is the last day.  I triple and quadrupled checked my address, credit card number, etc., etc.  I am no dumb ass as I am responsible for helping to raise over $90 million and conduct major fundraising events in Atlanta, GA for a MAJOR non profit.  I know how to maneuver a website to make a purchase.

I called your "contact us" to only be told it wasn't their problem (yes, twice) and was told it was my credit card company. Hence, I called my cc company and they do not show "one" charge being declined...NOTHING even being attempted and I have tried from 4 different computers now and even called a friend out of state to have him try to renew with a different credit card and same message..  It is u2.com's website. Period. Oh,and did I mention that when I spoke with fanfire/LiveNation over the phone, I asked them..."can I please renew over the phone?"...only to be told..."we don't take renewals over the phone".  What f*cking planet was I dealing with that I can't make a purchase over the phone?!

U2...get in touch with your fans.  Bono, while I have helped to give you a "good life", can you in return hire people that you personally know to handle your website?  Guess u are so rich now, you don't need my membership renewal fee anymore. And why do I continue to renew?  Because U2.com seems to give priority to those who have been members longer (not that this makes me or anyone else bigger/more devoted fan) and I don't want to lose that when presales come around..

    Thank you,

    "Unvalued U2.com member since 2005"

    Hi Tracy

sorry to hear you have had problems with renewing - I have escalated this issue and you should be hearing from someone to resolve it very soon. Since we moved across to this new platform we have seen very few subscription problems, and any that have been raised have been sorted out quickly, so please do update here when you can, thanks

BigWave...now shows I am a U2.com Free Member :(.  Friday was the last day for my renewal..hence why I tried to renew (multiple times).  My email documents that I tried to renew before it expired and I requested on the phone with LiveNation/Fanfire that they please notate my account to show that I tried.

BigWave..okay, now it shows my membership has renewed and it expires July 15, 2014...I have received notification from LiveNation other, "we have received your response"..."please make sure you are entering the correct phone number".  Which of course I did that,.

BW, my question is now...I was never charged...I just checked my bank statement to double check.  I WANT to pay for membership because I want the gift!  While I am thrilled that my subscription is renewed, again, no notification and I am assuming no membership gift.  Will you pls. advise what you think I should do next?

    Thank you.

Big Wave, I just went to check my account and now  I am not a member anymore and the price is now $50 instead of $40.  I do not want to loose my standing and hope it does not come to this.  I am going to wait to now "join" even tho it should be a "resub" until I hear an update from you....is this what you suggest??

Voxare']Okay - probably should just bite my tongue as usual - I'm always getting myself in trouble (not necessarily on the internet but in real life) for running my mouth off but I can't help myself right now.

So - a couple of things - one - I have issues with mods closing threads because you don't like the discussion or you are bored of it. Baja - you said in one thread downstairs something like you don't have a problem with people expressing their opinions in a non-offensive way and then closed the thread where people had been doing that (yes the thread title was rude but you had let it run for a long time and at the time of closing I don't seem to remember it being particularly bad) - so what is it about this thread that warrants it being closed - it hasn't become particularly offensive - most people are coming in here and expressing their opinions in a rational way - just because you have gotten sick of the subject matter or feel that the discussion is going around in circles doesn't really seem a good reason to close a thread.

Two - in the analogy above you are the bartender not the owner - just your comment about people need to give you respect or they can leave - I understand that you shouldn't have to put up with people being rude to you and stuff but that comment is kind of what led me to open that thread downstairs - it comes across as very 'it's my way or the highway' and to be fair this is the band's website not yours (as much as we appreciate the work you do!) and when people come here as fans their participation here shouldn't necessarily be dependent on them getting along with you (once again - I completely agree that being offensive to you or any of the other mods should not be tolerated) - it's just that this comment comes across like that to me.

Anyway - I really should probably just keep out of it but I'm bored at work so I couldn't help weighing in
    :P

    Totally agree with you Emily.

Iv been a member here for a few years and have never pushed the boundaries so far that its warranted a "warning" or more, and i don't intend to start now. I would always be the person to ere on the side of cautious and diplomacy But i have taken offense to a couple of things posted the last few days, not by a member but by the Mods themselves. As you said above ,the Mods are the Bartenders NOT the Owners but yet not 1 but 2 of them have stated that they would have no problem in telling even the members of U2, the Owners, what to do.

    Surely thats power gone mad.

Nicely said, Marie.  Now when a Mod is tired of a thread because one's opinion may differ or they are just bored with the subject matter, they close it, move it, delete it....INSANE.  And Mods, thank you for volunteering your time to "moderate"...but that is all it is...so get off the power trip mentality, please.

And I really think some of the Mods need to get tougher skin.  If that pm by Gibbo was abusive or threatening, we are all in some trouble and better sleep with one eye open - LOL!
