  1. Honestly, I am happy and excited about the DVD.  I can play it everywhere, get the audio easily.  I guess U2 will release the film on 4k on iTunes or stream it on netflix - and then we can decide that too.  My hunch is that the DVD will be the physical release and a online/streaming version will come out as well.  Also, I am happy for all the fans around that they can see the show easily and the DVD is by far the most common format.  True, 4k would be great, too. And I probably will fork out something to see me an my daughter in the first row (if we made the cut....). I am good with that.

I have to disagree strongly, sorry.

Corporations, by law, cannot send gifts! It can only be labelled merchandise (we discussed this here on different occations) and then (there you are correct, twoshots) there HAS to be a value inserted. This is the only possible option - the packages had been labelled as "gift" up to this year and for that very reason I had to pick up the packages from the customs office every year but one for the past ten years... :(

    Good point!

so the solution is label it as merchandise with a value! Would that solve the Zoll issue?!?

  3. On the German Zoll issue - just to be constructive! I inspected that label.  The subscriber "gift" was labelled as "merchandise" with a value of 0.  Now, If I look at this from a very limited perspective, I would say "merchandise" as per definition cannot have a value of "Zero".  So perhaps next year, owe could have this either labelled as a Gift with a value of, say USD10 - which would make it less problematic.  Or merchandise with a value below 10 - but it must have a value (I am not an expert on this though, surely there are better informed people here).  But I understand that reasoning that ANY. merchandise cannot have zero value.

Hope this helps and someone picks it up!

  4. so my gift was here  - my son had to pick his up today at the German custom office and pay another EURO8.  It was interesting that EVERYONE in the custom office new about it, as this is an annual thing (by the way, I did not manage to pick up mine last year, as I was out of the country and didn't get there in time - wasn't much bothered although now I have a vinyl player I would be more interested....). Oddly, this was shipped from Switzerland but lacking the real tax declaration.  A simple "Gift" declaration would have resolved this.  Not all packages get picked out.  It would be really good to get this right next time.  It was routine for the customs ("Ah the U2 gift") and is an inconvenience as well as an embarrassment for the Fanclub, I think.

    Love the gift though....

  5. Oh wow - what a night! I never thought I would see this show again after Berlin 2017 - but due to my current stay in China I made it happen.... My daughter loved it as well, she came out with me.

They always play at moment of transcendence in my life - moving back to Europe next week, but here are still some early shots..... Will be posting more when I am done moving and editing.

@Max Tsukino do you know whether there is any way I can still get one of the event t-shirts? I am an XXL European, and they were aaaaaalllll gone after the concert (I thought it was a wise idea not to take them into GA, but missed out.  If anyone here wants to work this out and has a spare one, I would appreciate it very, very much!!!!! xx

  6. Flying in from China! One question - The Will call will open at 2 as well, so many of us will only get our tickets then.  I guess the number will be honored as well for the line up, when we don't have the physical ticket in hand - anyone has more information/experience with that.

Its gonna be exciting but coooooold!  Light up the Joshua Tree before Xmas!

  7. just a small bit of advice.  Looking over and twitter, the line up is indeed in ticket number.  When you select standing tickets, make sure to select the right zone.  The front zone is sort of purple and has the lowest numbers.  I bought around 2100 last night in the second row, and since I still have 2 purchases left, just went in again, and snatched two at the 240 mark further up. Tickets are refundable for the first couple of days, so I cancelled the first purchase (yes, I am brave). Will print all this out, but just a word of warning to those booking tickets red-eyed!!

  8. Thanks again to all the mods and in particular @Max Tsukino for being there for us - now a couple of hours later I want to thank the team here.  The process was a bit odd, including putting in the last four digits from the credit card through an online pad, as well as picking seats for GA.  When the onsale started, everything was available, only then I got a "someone is buying the ticket" when picking the first two dots.  I then moved down a little an picked to random ones, I hope this is not the order they are going to let us in, but hey, the stage is so large, there are so many great spots.... \\Thanks again and see you in Korea.  @Max Tsukino I will eventually write up the story of China and Berlin for you guys, just didn't have time!

  9. worked pretty well!  Kind of a weird process, but after foolishly picking the first blue dots, I just randomly picked two - and got the email.  Will call is a bit nerve-racking but I guess all will be good!

Just scroll down with the payment options until you find Mastercard under others.

It seems that this will be how it will work... we are waiting for an update which hopefully makes the information about the procedure more clear. Please keep checking the site and the FAQ section...

Thanks @Max Tsukino! Fingers crossed the pre registration site is open for a couple of days. - and not just for two hours before it shuts down.  Although normally based in China, I am doing this from Germany.... so some sleep would be great 😉

  11. Hi all - @Max Tsukino you have been an awesome fountain of knowledge here.

I'm not quite clear on the procedure for Korea.  U2.com says:

"When the presale for your chosen show opens, you will need to visit the presale ticketing page to purchase your tickets. For South Korea show, you must verify by clicking the “REGISTRATION” button and inputting the passcode by 9:59AM KST, Tuesday 10-June on the presale ticketing page at YES24. The links to the presale ticketing page will be provided to you via the registered Email address at U2.com."

So we all got the presale codes today (I would think so!), but for Korea we need to go through some sort of pre-registration process through a link.  Do we know when that pre-registration will be open? Thanks for clarifying!

  12. ok, I had carefully scheduled my travel this summer to go to Berlin 1 with my son, and Berlin 2 with my daughter.  I live in China.....

GA for both.  for the second night I managed to be for the first time ever in front of Adam (I play bass) - sooo excited to not seeing China right in front of me, but Adam Clayton.  See picture.

My schedule is crazily busy and due to the distance, I can only do two shows this tour (actually and the last one, as I lived under a desert sky before.   But then the date was announced in the one and only week where I was toying with the idea of seeing the lights of home in Berlin before Xmas. It must be fate!! A sort of homecoming, indeed.

Now I have booked the flight from Shanghai to Berlin. You can call it madness, love or dedication or all the above. My wife thinks it’s the first.

Let's hope I can get to that spot again.  Still processing images, but you can find some from night one here https://flic.kr/s/aHsmrdZpvf  and night 2 here https://flic.kr/s/aHskHgNcLh .  Happy to share more.

We can't wait now for the November.

  13. Hi BigWave and Jahorro- great work here by the way and good to see you all in action again.

One thing worth clarifying is the camera policy.  It says on Joe's Guide that SLRs with less than a 2'' lens will be allowed, and then no SLRs with detachable lenses.  Still got some time to go until Cologne, which will be this years only shows, but typically, I have been planning to take my slr (as before) with a small prime lense (pancake) which is below 2''.  I am sure other are in the same boat.  With mobile phones everywhere (and some have higher pixel counts than my 7d!) I think it would be good to have this clarified.  Its pretty clear we won't bring the 70-200 (although this would be fun).  Obviously its all about the music, but I personally love to take some decent images, so would love to have the 2'' policy around this amazing tour.

    Thanks!

  14. Yes, I used eventim, which is used for the German concerts. You put one ticket in the Basket, and continue shopping - that was the second one.  It was really straightforward.  I hope Ticketmaster works for you guys too!

Just hope they send the Mobile ticket to my far flung base!
