October 18, 2009. U2 play in Norman Oklahoma. I’ve arrived from my
overnight drive from Minneapolis just as the band walks on stage. I
find a spot in the corner of the field, to the right of the stage. I
cannot believe how close I am to the band. Time passes and I am
surprised how cold it can get in the desert after the sun sets. A song
ends, the singer stands shivering in the cold, his voice alone brings
the audience together as one beating heart as he sings Amazing Grace.
I feel and see the light of God through this small man that evening.
