  1. At the beginning of 1998 I was 15 and wasn’t allowed to go to big rock shows in stadiums yet. That’s how I missed the first time U2 played in Brazil… I begged and cried rivers but it didn’t work. Two months later my older brother decided to go to Rolling Stones concert with his friends but he didn’t tell anything, he knew I would be angry because I was much more a rock and roll fan than him and I’d love to go. My parents held this info for a week, they didn’t know how to tell me. So one day when I arrived from school my mum told me. Of course I got mad! “Why I couldn’t go to shows while my brother could?” My house shook that day with my reaction, I was furious and couldn’t stop crying because I missed my favourite band’s show just short time ago and now my brother could go anywhere… that was not fair. My parents were feeling sorry for me and made my brother take me with him but he and his friends had to promise they would take care of me. The opening act was Bob Dylan. Wow! A rock and roll legend. My favourite moment of the show was when Stones called Dylan to join them in the stage and they played together ‘Like a Rolling Stone’. It was such a historical moment and I’m happy I was able to be there. I found a video of this from the show in Rio.

Hey Febottini!!! What season is it there : Autumn, winter ? What temperature-values are there recorded? What's it like in the summer ? isn't Sao Paulo near the Amazonian Tropical Forest ? Or is it closer to the Atlantic Ocean-Coast ??? Isn't The Hydro-Power-Plant Itaipu supplying 90% of Sao Paulo's electricity ?

Please NO Fahrenheit for the temperatures, only Celsius !!!

It's autumn here right now. The thing is that Brazil is very big and each area is very different. I live in São Paulo (southest) and last week was cold... about 15. C. Manaus, in Amazonas, is in the north of the country and it's always hot and humid. The temperature there was about 30. C.

If it helps you, here is a map with states and capitals:

  3.

todays weather for Maracanã, Rio - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

    Was 86 degrees F, with 80% Humidity!!

Spicy, today in São Paulo was 59 F.

For me, it's cold... so weather is not an excuse if they don't play well.

Of course, some cities are hotter. That's why I think Germans are smart because they've decided to stay in a hot city and they're training and doing physical exercises specially at midday... so they're getting ready to play in any temperature.

you are absolutely right on that one fernanda!!

they are training for the conditions..http://www.faqs.org/sports-science/Dr-Fo/Environmental-Conditions-and-Training.html

"The ability of an athlete to overcome environmental conditions is closely tied to the training concept of acclimatization, which requires a focused training approach concerning a specific condition that an athlete expects to face in an upcoming competition or event. Acclimatization is rooted in the inherent ability of the human body to adapt to its surroundings over time in all circumstances."

  5. Fernanda have you ever been to Maracana? Is it possible to see anything from the upper row of the seats?

I don't know but I think yes. There were a lot of changes for the World Cup... so I guess it must be much better now, it's supposed everyone has a good view of all seats in all stadiums. The only thing is that you'll be distant from the field.

  6.

    Brazilians are very friendly.

And we love football. We can't talk about any other thing except World Cup. It's football the whole day, everyday... it's like heaven.  :D

Doh. I should have come over. I wish I had now :(

I don't know what Fifa is waiting for to do a World Cup every year. We want it!  :P
