  2. I created this thread so we can all keep up with U2's activities, feel free to post any photos of the band if you have luckily spotted them or photos of places-cities-things that you think relate to the band or a song of theirs or stuff....Since I don't have an Instagram account nor do I intend to create one, I thought you happy people might like this kind of thread. PS: Photo stolen from U2's official facebook - page !!! Feel free to post anything that crosses your mind, any subject is open to discussion but it would be nice if you would add a U2-realted-photo too (again, not necessarily with the four band-members in it !).... From Edge's Latest Instagram Post, also posted on U2's official fb-page (Credit-THE EDGE) - Edge: Distorted Desert Windmill... -

  5. Big, big day here... The Joshua Tree is 30 years old. One of the most important albums in U2 history, and most certainly an important part of the soundtrack of our lives. For many it was the album that made them fans of the band, or they were already fans but it helped them to convince those around that this was THE band. What does it mean for you? How are you planning to celebrate this anniversary? Share with the community your collection, adventures... your dreams surrounding The Joshua Tree. We want to know all about your own musical journey...

  7. It's May and all I can think about is the tour. Our lads from Dublin are the best at what they do. They blew my mind nearly thirty years ago (wow) and I'm feeling like that high school kid counting down the days to the show. Tickets are about ten times more than what than what I spent back in 1987, and it doesn't matter. When it comes to a U2 show, I am all in. I wrote a little piece about how they have stayed relevant in their fourth decade of existence. I'd love to hear your thoughts. https://achtungninja.wordpress.com/2017/05/04/all-because-of-you/
  8. Ballads, every great rock band has one that lives on. It is safe to say our favorite lads from Dublin have much more than that. For me, With Or Without You—both the song and video are what a ballad is supposed to sound like and look like. One of the most atmospheric songs/videos ever. Incredible. I wrote a short piece about this awesome song. If you have time and interest, please check it out. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Hey everyone, I’ve been re-watching all of the music videos from The Joshua Tree and remember how truly great they were. For me With or Without You was one of the coolest videos that they ever made. What do you think? I wrote a little post about it. Thanks! https://achtungninja.wordpress.com/2017/04/20/with-or-without-you-a-troubled-love-song-a-big-hit/
  9. I’ve been listening to TJT closely and have not done that in a very long time. A discussion with my buddy’s daughter about how it doesn’t sound like an eighties album compelled me to really think about it. There is something strange and un-eighties about it. I guess that’s one of the things makes it so awesome. But it made me wonder: if it didn’t come out in the eighties, what decade would it belong? I wrote post about it and would love to know what others think. Thank you! https://achtungninja.wordpress.com/2017/04/06/another-time-another-place/
  10. I am wondering how our beloved boys from Dublin will perform these absolutely fantastic songs. The old guy in me would love to hear them played they way that I hear them 30 years ago. But I've read that the band is looking to breathe new life into these fan favorites. My question is: how do you improve upon a classic? I wrote a blog post about a recent experience about whether or not songs from The Joshua Street achieved classic status. Love to know what you think. Thanks. https://achtungninja.wordpress.com/

Here is a picture of the original record that I bought way back in March 1987. This was the album that started all of the madness. Enjoy! AchtungNinja.com

    1. The Original Cassette I bought as soon as I could possibly afford after I became a fan (summer of 2003), it was in 2004, I think.......Ver Very Hard times.......Needless to say I played the HELL out of it in the car and had some of the most monstrous fights with my father who hated ( still does) the album, especially Love is Blindness......WHEN I first cranked it in, I though the cassette was broken and wanted to get a refund......For a LOT of time that is what I thought....Until someone told me ZOO STATIOn is SUPOSED to sound like that, I gave out a big sigh of relief I was so GLAD I didnt return it..and I loved it even MORE for the fact it was meant to sound like that........THE SOUND on the cassette is other-worldly.....OK, not anymore cause it's super-worn out .......But u get it....... 2. The Original CD, I bought in 2006...I waited 4 month for it to arrive..Very Hard times with the dramatic death of my grandfather JUST as the cd arrived.... 3. What more can I say about the UBER DELUXE AB, a gift from my Mom for my birthday in 2012 ..... Very Hard times I owe my life to Achtung Baby//////Its always there when I go through extremely hard times in my life !!!!!! ...... Thanks U2 for doing this.....I don't need anything more from you. Oh yeah and "3" includes a beautifully laid out ZOOROPA too.....I get the feeling EDGE did some essential tweaking on it as he also did for all the rest of the albums on the UBDER-DELUXE..... I'll post more photos of these if you guys have any requests.......

  14. 30 years ago I became a fan. Knowing how quickly my music tastes changed, I never would have imagined that I still love the band today, just like I did back in the 80s. Back then I was young and now I am old. It's so so awesome to see that our boys are still doing their thing. I wrote a piece on what it was like to be introduced to the best band on the planet. If you are so inclined, please check it out. Thanks! https://achtungninja.wordpress.com/

  17. From everything that I've read, the band is back in the studio, writing, recording and working hard at getting the next album out. I was little hopefully that that would be touring again this year. But it's June and I don't think that is likely. My guess is the earliest that they could possibly hit the road is 2017.
