  2. Hi everybody. Well I forgot to post about the incredible thing that happened to me in Paris, on september 13th while U2 were touring in the city of lights. I've written a book (in french) about U2 fans. 70 of them from 18 countries around the world (you may be part of them !) told me about their passion for the band, how they discovered U2 music, what they feel when they listen to it, how far they went for the band, what relationship they have with it and what they like and what they dislike. I dreamt one of the four U2 members would sign a copy of it so I decided to wait in front of the hotel in the cold wind with hundreds of other fans that day. And my dream came true ! Bono came out of the hotel to meet the fans and he walked directly to the place I was. A Mexican fan filmed the meeting. You can watch it here >>> https://www.facebook.com/claire.talgorn/videos/10214397356102430/ And another one filmed Bono's reaction when I tell him about the book (it starts at '31 and ends at 1'02) >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQDjV7pnZ2o He started signing stuffs and when he arrived in front of me I managed to tell him about the book. So he stopped signing and looked me right in the eyes (I was soooo nervous when he did that !). I thought "My Gosh, he's really listening to you, keep on talking !". I told him about the fans stories and asked if he could read in french. Unfortunately, he can speak a little bit but not read the language for the moment but he said he was "interested in learning french so that he could read it. " He added "maybe 'l'année prochaine' (speaking in french, how lovely)". He was about to keep the book but he realized he had already signed it so he said "you keep this one but you send me one". I promised I'll do it. and asked where I should send it but I can't understand what he answered. If you understand, let me know !! As I'm going to the last Dublin show in November, I decided to bring a copy with me and I've started to translate parts of it for him to be able to read it. I'll try to give it to Bono directly even if this seems difficult or let it somewhere he could get it. So keep on dreaming, sometimes your dreams can come true, believe me !

  5. Hello everyone, the last show of the tour is steadily approaching. Probably a good amount of fans will stay overnight in or near Brussels on the day of the show. Let's have all a drink together after the show to celebrate and keep the party going instead of queuing in traffic! Any suggestions for a proper place to organise this? If you are interested to come please like or post to have an idea how many people we can expect. Greetings to all and enjoy the show!

  8. Hi everybody, I'm Claire Talgorn. I'm a french journalist and last year I did a book called "I will follow, U2 by its fans" that was published thanks to crowdfunding. Here's a link to the Facebook page if you want to know more about it >>> https://www.facebook.com/u2iwillfollowproject/ As many people asked me about how to get an exemplary of this book (but there are no more available), I decided to send it to a "real" publishing house... and it was interested. So I'm looking for new testimonials from U2 fans all over the world. For the first edition of the book, I gathered 40 testimonials from 11 countries (Indonesia, Spain, Switzerland, France, Australia, USA, India...). I'd like to gather more from more countries. If you're interested in this project, you may like to fullfill the following questionnary. 1 How long have you been listening to U2 music? (remember the first time you heard it, what you felt, tell) 2 How do you feel when you listen to their music? 3 What is the song that speaks to you the most and why? 4 To what do you attribute the longevity of the band? How has the group changed (for those who have been following it for a long time)? 5 What is the most extraordinary, unusual, funny, weird thing have you done or experienced because of your passion for U2? 6 How would you describe your relationship with this band? Have you ever met them, tell us. 7 Have you seen U2 live? If so, tell us your best live moment (where, when, feeling ...) 8 How many times have you attended a U2 show? (where, when, why?) 9 What do you like most about them? And what don't you like? 10 What is the word that best sums up the band? Please provide your name or nickname, your age, profession (if you want) and especially the city or country you live in. You can send your answers to PLEASE, NO EMAIL ADDRESSES. PLEASE USE PRIVATE MESSAGES FEATURE ON HERE V Don't hesitate to take part in this project wherever you are . I'm looking forward to reading your stories and feelings about the band. Thanks a lot Claire

  13. Hi everybody! A year ago, I posted a message here to ask for fans testimonials. The idea was to gather testimonials from the whole world and publish a book thanks to crowdfunding. Well, here we go ! The book "I will follow, U2 by its fans" is almost done (should be ready in March 2016), it will be written in french and in english, and we decided to launch the crowdfunding campaign to finance it. As I'm french, it's been launched on a french website named Ulule.com (it can be compared to IndieGogo in the USA). I, myself, supported several projects on this website, I know I can trust it. If you want to have a look online, here is the link >>> ulule.com/iwillfollow-u2/ There's also a Facebook page dedicated to the project >>> www.facebook.com/u2iwillfollowproject/?notif_t=page_fan 43 people from 12 different countries (France, Spain, Brazil, Indonesia, India, Australia, USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Peru, Sweden, Canada) have taken part in it and expressed their feelings about U2. The book will be about a hundred pages with a hundred pictures. If you want to finance the publishing, and be sent a copy of the book, you're welcome Please, talk about it around you, comment, share, like, ask questions so that we can reach a higher goal than the one we put in the first place. A big thank you to those who sent their testimonials. It was a real pleasure to read them. I hope you'll like the book to come. Keep on rockin' ! Claire

  16. Should probably post this elsewhere but I know for a fact those of us who just spent the week in Dublin, or part of it, from all over the world, got to bear witness to some extraordinary events last week. Concentration is very difficult but the love I felt from meeting new friends and old, the camaraderie, the shows, the interaction with the guys in the band, all of it -- you just can't explain it to someone if you weren't there. And I have a new level of appreciation for every man in that band just from a few little interactions and actions on their parts. At the heart of all of this I think is the fact is probably the most obvious -- this band is about affirming the power of love and life over all other contenders. Never have I felt that as deeply as I have this past week, despite having seen many many other shows over the year. Just saying what I suspect many are feeling today and wanted to give a huge global hug and thanks to the incredible fan community, and the band. The Jacques Brel song has been in my head all day... Ne me quitte pas Il faut oublier Tout peut s'oublier Qui s'enfuit deja Oublier le temps Des malentendus Et le temps perdu A savoir comment Oublier ces heures Qui tuaient parfois A coups de pourquoi Le coeur du bonheur Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Big love, one love to you all.
  17. Hi everyone, Presume many fans will end up downtown Antwerp after the show on Tuesday October 13th. Does anybody know if there is a meeting point / bar to celebrate U2's concert residence in the metropool? There are the obvious irish pubs etc. but curious for your response! See you, T
  18. Hello zooies, I was just boiling the kettle for yet another cuppa and musing idly about the upcoming tour..and how soon it is now! Remember how exciting it was sharing our experiences in here during the last tour and how great it was with live feeds and live posts? Good times:) I have made a lot of friends in here since the last tour and have always said I hope to get to meet some of you when the next tour comes round. I was so hoping we could arrange the same tour dates so we could all meet up and even be near each other during the gigs shouting and screaming and singing our hearts out together:)) but the shame (for me at least) is with such short notice on pre-sales and ticket limits etc it wasn't really possible to arrange dates with friends here so we got to meet each other at the event itself. I know some of us will meet here and there or on an individual basis, and nowt wrong with that, but I was hoping more for something more 'organised' - you know? Anyway, I am in the UK and whilst I know this sort of stuff has been bandied around before, would any of you be genuinely interested in trying to organise a proper get together with food, drink and music, during the tour regardless of where each of us are going to see the band?! What do you think? At the moment, if there is sufficient interest, I was thinking of a meet up somewhere in the Midlands could be fair travel-wise and maybe less expensive for all rather than London? Or would most prefer London? Your thoughts on this would be welcome. If no one replies I will be secretly mortified but will try and act cool and breezy about it whilst singing karaoke alone in a bar somewhere doing U2 songs a huge disservice since I can't hold a note... Apologies for the long post, brevity and conciseness were never a strong point!! Anj x (Mods - could this thread stay in the general forum or upstairs so most people can see it..pretty please with bells on it)
  19. I'll be in New York from the 23rd July and wondering if there is any planned meet up's before or after gigs ? if there's something happening where is it at, would be great to meet some fellow fans while in NYC See you there ;-)
  20. Dear U2 Fans An independent company is looking to conduct on-camera interviews with U2 fans in Los Angeles on Friday, April 24. 21. Hi everybody! My name is Claire from France. I'm a print journalist and I've been following U2 carreer since I was 12 (and let me tell you it is almost 25 years i'm not that age anymore;)! ). Here is a post about my project around U2 fans. At the moment, it is named "U2 : I will follow project" and intends to gather testimonies from U2 fans all other the world and publish a book. Sorry if this post is a bit long (that's an understatement;)!) but i wanted to explain everything. Here we go! "While tickets for the next U2 tour 2015 were again snatched after a few hours, why is the Irish band still so popular around the world 35 years after its debut in Dublin? Why do people love U2 in Paris, Vancouver, Sydney or Buenos Aires? What kind of relationship do admirers have with the band? What do they feel when they listen to its music? The "U2: I will follow project" is to collect testimonies from fans around the globe to answer all these questions and edit the output through a book (financed by a call for donations on a participatory platform). In order not to go in all directions, a list of dozens of questions was established (see below). Then you are free to share other impressions of the group, telling stories, asking more questions ... Who I am? Claire Talgorn 37, print journalist for 15 years in a daily regional press in France. Passionate about music, of course! Why am I interested in U2 fans? Probably because I am one of them! I entered the world of the four Irishmen one afternoon in 1989. I was 12 years old. I heard "Pride" on the radio and the world stopped. Their music never left me. When I listen to it is a mixture of revolt, rage, and tenderness, sweetness I feel every time. It took me 16 years to see them on stage in July 2005 at Stade de France in Paris. And just a month to leave to attend another show in San Sebastian in August of the same year! Why? Because U2 live is something indescribable. People often have difficulty expressing what they felt for two hours faced with this influx of continuous emotions. The heart that beats faster, the tears well up in the eyes, the desire to revolt, having broken voice, chills, goose bumps, sadness after it's finished. And if it did not return? U2 made me travel literally and figuratively. Paris, San Sebastian, Dublin, Amsterdam, Berlin ... Each time, the on-site meetings are amazing! For the anecdote, in Paris, I almost fought with a drunk guy who wanted to take my irish flag on "Sunday bloody sunday"! It is for you now! Here is the questionnaire 1) How long have you been listening to U2 music? (remember the first time you heard it, what you felt, tell) 2) How do you feel when you listen to their music? 3) What is the song that speaks to you the most and why? 4) To what do you attribute the longevity of the band? How has the group changed (for those who have been following it for a long time)? 5) What is the most extraordinary, unusual, funny, weird thing have you done or experienced because of your passion for U2? 6) How would you describe your relationship with this band? Have you ever met them, tell us. 7) Have you seen U2 live? If so, tell us your best live moment (where, when, feeling ...) 8) How many times have you attended a U2 show? (where, when, why?) 9) What do you like most about them? And what don't you like? 10) What is the word that best sums up the band? 11) Please provide your name or a nickname, and especially the city or country you live in The project can become true only through your contribution. If you are interested in participating, take twenty minutes to complete the questionnaire and return it to the following email address: u2iwillfollowproject@gmail.com Thank you very much in advance! Claire PS : I'll come later on to tell you if the call has been heard... or not!
  22. Ordinary Love, written for the movie Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, is now released in a 10-inch vinyl pressing to mark Record Store Day.But its a limited edition, which means not everyone will get one… so we’re delighted to announce we’ve bagged 25 copies to give away free to fans! Remember the #U2FTGU Competition - where we asked you to show us what you had built 'From The Ground Up'? Well, this time all we are asking you is to show us some of your 'Ordinary Love’ - and take inspiration from that amazing lyric video by Oliver Jeffers and Mac Premo. Take a line or section of the lyrics from Ordinary Love and personalise it. Make a hand-drawn sketch, write on on a blackboard, scrawl it on the beach, in the snow - make it out of pastry, plasticine or ketchup - tattoo it on a friends arm (with their permission , write it in the sky when you’re next up in a plane… which line(s) you write or how you write it and present it is down to your own imagination… How to enter? Simple! Just take your photo / video / written piece of your creation, and add it to this Zoo Forum Topic thread. If you also show it in your favourite social network site (like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) remember to tag it with #U2OrdinaryLove so we can find it… You can tweet your love to @u2 & @u2community ( & we will R/T some of the best, but again, please remember to add the hashtag #U2OrdinaryLove or we might miss it). Just make sure whatever you create, to make it publicly viewable, and that it sticks by the forum House Rules, and the winners will be chosen sometime in December. So, time to get creative! 20 of the vinyl Ordinary Love copies will go to the best entries from U2.com full subscribers, and 5 copies are up for grabs to anyone who is a free member of U2.com (if you are not already a member, you can sign up for free here) Ordinary Love by U2 Lyrics : The sea wants to kiss the golden shore The sunlight warms your skin All the beauty that's been lost before Wants to find us again I can't fight you anymore It's you I'm fighting for The sea throws rocks together But time leaves us polished stones We can't fall any further If we can't feel ordinary love We cannot reach any higher If we can't deal with ordinary love Birds fly high in the summer sky And rest on the breeze The same wind will take care of you and I will build our house in the trees Your heart is on my sleeve Did you put there with a magic marker For years I would believe That the world couldn't wash it away 'Cause we can't fall any further If we can't feel ordinary love We cannot reach any higher If we can't deal with ordinary love Are we tough enough? For ordinary love We can't fall any further If we can't feel ordinary love We cannot reach any higher If we can't deal with ordinary love We can't fall any further If we can't feel ordinary love We cannot reach any higher If we can't deal with ordinary love.. Are you tough enough?…
