A Christmas Thread

Recommended Posts

I was thinking since it there might not be a card exchange this year which is understandable because many are on tight budgets, hard times, etc. I decided to begin a Christmas thread for us to post music, greetings, etc.

As for me, here is the recipe I was going to send with the cards which has been in my family for generations so here it is:

Spaghetti with Bacon Marinara

1.  Slice 1/2 pound of bacon into 4's

2.  Chop medium size onion

3. Fry 1/2 pound bacon with onion until cooked

4. Boil Spaghetti noodles until done

5. Drain noodles

6.  Add regular spaghetti sauce to noodles

7.  Add cooked bacon/onion, grease mixture to pasta/sauce combination and enjoy!!

Wow, I've loved the song for 20 years but I've never seen or heard this live version before!

Great song and by the way, I used this song as a part of my presentation when I attended the Art Institute of Seattle (History of Pop Music Class).  I included this song in the presentation(along with a video and, 1,500 word report) at the last minute and talk about timing because we were all getting ready for the Holiday Season.

The ultimate U2 festive playlist...

Actual Christmas songs:
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
I Believe In Father Christmas
White Christmas (I only just discovered this one)
Do They Know It's Christmas (multiple versions featuring Bono, though the original is the only one worth bothering with!)
Various Dublin busking performances featuring Bono/Edge

Songs with references to Christmas (not all particularly cheerful, but anyway!)
Angel Of Harlem
Miss Sarajevo
If God Will Send His Angels
Peace On Earth
Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
With Or Without You (PopMart Live From Mexico City) - I love the "Happy Christmas!" moment where this starts to build into a really magical, joyful performance ❤️

And a bunch of others with titles or lyrics relating to winter/snow etc...

Did I forget anything? U2gigs lists a few snippets of We Wish You A Merry Christmas and Jingle Bells, but I haven't heard any of them!

Merry Xmas, Zootopia! 🎅🎄🎁

(For those who have been keeping up with the “Desert Sky” thread about our JT-themed vacation in October/November, those posts will resume in a couple of days - we are enjoying the holidays too. 😎)

Thank you for posting this.  It helped me hold onto the last two of the 12 days.   This is beautiful.

I was wondering when they were gonna show Bono driving to Midnight Mass.  I then realized it was Bono reading the poem aloud. Thanks for the lift and a good laugh. 😛

Oh yeah, I forgot to post Monday was Christmas for the Ukraine, Orthodox and other churches.  By the way, I bought a small, white cake to celebrate The Epiphany.

Did I misssomething?

Over one quarter of a billion people celebrate Christmas on Jan 7;  Orthodox and other churches, as illumination70 mentioned.  They follow the Julian, and not Gregorian yearly calendar.
