Three-DiscDeluxe Edition Produced & Compiled by Robert Smith, Including aRemastered Version of the Original Album, plus Unreleased Songs, Demos,Out-takes and Live Performances.

The Cure’s eighth studio album, released in 1989, is the dark tour de force Disintegration.

Followingon from 1987's outstanding Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me release, and spurredby the hits “Lullabyâ€, “Fascination Street“, “Lovesong†and “PicturesOf Youâ€, the album quickly became the group’s most successful yet, withsales topping more than 3 million, as the band sold out stadiums andarenas around the world.

Polydor/Universal (ROW) and Rhino/WMG(North America) reissue this landmark album, remastering the original, adding a disc of unreleased out-takes and demos, plus a third disc thatcontains a live performance of the entire album recorded in 1989 over 3nights at Wembley Arena, London, the European climax of the The Cure'sglobal ‘Prayer Tour‘. This Deluxe Edition comes with a 20 page bookletcontaining previously unseen pictures and art, as well as lyrics and anin depth overview of the period by the band's founder Robert Smith.

RobertSmith compiled, produced, and supervised the mastering of thisthree-disc collection, which covers the evolution of Disintegration, from demos and rehearsals to studio and stage. The first disc containsnewly remastered versions of the album’s original 12 tracks.

Gathering20 unreleased tracks, the second disc trawls through Smith’s homerecordings to find early instrumental demos of fan favourites “PicturesOf Youâ€, “Prayers For Rain†and “Fascination Street.†The Cure can beheard rehearsing and arranging various instrumental versions, includingâ€Homesickâ€, “Closedown†and “The Same Deep Water As Youâ€, as well asplaying studio out-takes of several other tracks,  including“Plainsongâ€. The disc also contains four unreleased songs: “Noheartâ€,“Estenâ€, “Delirious Night†and a cover of Judy Collins’ “Pirate Shipsâ€,the latter a solo performance by Smith that was recorded for, butultimately not included on, Rubáiyát, a 1990 album celebrating ElektraRecords’ 40th anniversary.

For the final disc, Smith remixesand expands Entreat, a live album recorded in 1989 at Wembley Arena.Entreat Plus combines the original’s eight tracks, remixed with thefour 'missing' songs to create a complete contemporary live version ofDisintegration.

The complete 12 song Disintegration album isalso available for the first time on vinyl as a remastered 2 discrelease with lyric bags.

CommentsStuart Braithwaite of Mogwai: “Disintegration by The Cure is one of thegreatest records of all time. It has the feel that only a tiny amountof albums have, that it exists completely in its own universe, immuneto context or fashion. I literally cannot imagine the band members in aroom playing these songs for the first time, its as if they've alwaysbeen there. From stunning opener “Plainsong†through to “Untitledâ€, itis unrelentingly beautiful and achingly sad. Disintegration is a simplywonderful record.â€

mind you though wild mood swings is a bit naff! that is when porl and boris left! bloodflowers has its moments, the cure again has its moments, and i really think 4:13 dream is as close as we have had to proper cure in a long time. i love open too, great song!
