U2 will be honored by the Los Angeles-Italia Film, Fashion and Art Festival, which is the major event on film calendar before the Oscars.

The homage to the group is due its song Ordinary Love, from the soundtrack of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”.

The actress Naomie Harris, who played Winnie Mandela in the film, will present the award.

The event, from Sunday to March 1, takes place at the TLC Chinese Theaters in Hollywood.

Last night Bono accepted the award for “Ordinary Love” at the LA-Italia Film Festival.

He was joined by the actress Naomie Harris, who played Winnie Mandela.

During the ceremony, Bono read a love letter that Madiba wrote to his wife while he was in prison. Mandela’s letters inspired Bono to write the song “Ordinary Love”.
