I went to a concert recently that was my first experience with ticketless entry. There were 4 adults & 4 kids in my group. I had purchased 4 tickets with one credit card & 4 with another. The usher had the scan gizmo hanging around his neck. He swiped the 1st card & 4 thin ~2"x4" paper vouchers (showing the seat locations) printed out. He scanned the second card & the other 4 printed right out. [i had my receipts in my pocket as backup]. No ID checked (I understand that's unpredictable). It honestly seemed to move faster than scanning 8 individual tickets sequentially.

And if you could go or one of your group could not go, what would you have done?

Great question. My better half would have gotten in if I couldn't go. If we both could not go I would have loaned my cards to my trustworthy friend. I would hope they could have managed at the box office with the details if ID was checked & not allowed to enter. If another member of the group backed out we would have scrambled or eaten it.
