Hmmmm, am now listening to Zooropa as we speak. Will see how that goes. Gunna go to bed with it as it is 11pm and I want to wake up at 6 to listen to Barcelona 4 on Mixlr. Thanks for the chat!

Indeed!

You are most welcome!

Thank you as well!!

Are you in Spain?

I wish!

In Australia, but the Barcelona show should start at 6am here so I can listen to it on Mixlr as I wake up

Bono has pointed out that rock n roll has at its root the abandonment of the mother,

usually because of the mother's death.

John Lennon,

Paul McCartney,

Jimi Hendrix,

Bono,

Madonna,

Johnny Rotten,

Larry Mullen Jr.,

Elvis Presley...

Hip hop,

he says,

has at its root abandonment by the father.

Well, that dovetails quite nicely into a Biblical lens for humankind's sense of its own predicament,

whether we were abandoned or if we are the ones,

as Bono said,

who kicked God out of the garden...

"They say they want the Kingdom

But they don't want God in it..."

-The Wanderer

Not that Zooropa is a hip hop record...

I just think U2's was leaning in that direction general.

Grunge was pretty dull and the old guard sounds of white rock were feeling tired.

They needed to not be heard for a time to be appreciated again.

Was this a thread about Pop?

never mind...

I'm not sure how to quote a different thread in this one.

If you'd like to check it out,

I just blab on about how Pop and Passengers could have,

with only a few tunes left off,

been a very interesting double album that is the night in the life of one soul in Tokyo.
