Subscriber adrnik Posted January 19, 2018 Subscriber Share Posted January 19, 2018 A TJT Live dvd could come out this side of Christmas. The next tour is likely to go into next year with band playing other countries not visited in recent years. That tour dvd likely to come out after that. Subscriber bf2152 Posted January 27, 2018 Subscriber Share Posted January 27, 2018 If they release a JT2017 DVD, I hope they include Noel Gallagher's encore from Twickenham #1.
Subscriber alekdome Posted June 19, 2018 Subscriber Share Posted June 19, 2018 When they were in Mexico, Edge said that they were filming the shows for the DVD. And there were cameras all over the place. But I haven't heard anything eversince.

Subscriber Manohlive Posted June 25, 2018 Subscriber Share Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) I would like a DVD as well. Do you think it would sell enough to merit producing one? Most people I know who went to that show would not buy it. They are fans from the past and don't buy copies of concerts. This is not to say I would not buy it. I'm wondering how many would. I'm hoping enough to merit releasing one. I don't like how I presented the above. It's two days later. I wish I had said that I'm glad Edge spoke or recordings taking place. I'll jump on buying it. Most people I know will just stream it. They think it's stupid to pay for a concert dvd. I did not mean to question U2's ability to put out something so monumental. Pardon me, please. Subscriber Manohlive Posted July 2, 2018 Subscriber Share Posted July 2, 2018 I finally figured out what I've been trying to express. Whenever DVDs have been filmed at shows I've attended, they've always put up a disclaimer stating that anyone present knows and agrees to being filmed. I did not see where anyone posted of this happening at a show. Did Edge mention they were filming? Perhaps the law changed and they no longer need to inform people? The Super Deluxe boxed set was fantastic and I think that a DVD set would make a nice companion. If they do, I can't imagine it would be released until after E+I ends. I don't know how long it would take to produce, but it seems unlikely it would be released this year. Taking into consideration the European leg ends in early November, that doesn't leave much time to get it out before Christmas. It would be wonderful if they did, though. I don't really stream that much and would prefer the old-fashioned DVD/Blu-Ray. But, I'm old.

You know, I'm of two minds (at least) about DVD/BluRay releases for JT 2017 and for e&i 2018. They could very easily release JT this holiday season; there really wouldn't be any reason to wait. Also, DC was just recently recorded (ostensibly for release) - so were the Apollo Theater show and the Newark show in 360 degrees. These are already in the can. They aren't on the road again until the end of next month. Thus, it is not inconceivable that one or more of these could be out this Xmas season - as I already said, if they are planning a release for the JT anniversary tour, I would think that would definitely come out this year. It's whether or not the e&i tour makes it out this year too - the European tour would be over by the time they would be releasing e&i to the market (if they have a view to releasing it this year). I even wonder if they would do some kind of deluxe live set that would include both, whether for Xmas this year or by next summer. I also wonder if they are planning to upgrade the pre-U2360 shows to BluRay anytime soon - that would be a great set.

I like even looking at my U2 dvds on the rack. They always make me smile.

I was thinking about how long it would take to edit, press and distribute the DVD/BD. I know that the band puts their collective and creative hands in the production of tour videos. And, I wonder if they are using the period between tour legs for some R&R or to work (revising set-lists for Europe, JT '17 DVD/BD, etc.) It would seem right to release JT '17 hot off of the heels of this current tour. Demand would be at its highest and they could capitalize on the holiday buying season. Obviously, this is my take on it and I know nothing. I remember having the VHS copies of Rattle & Hum, ZOO TV Outside Broadcast and PopMart (Live from Mexico). They were regular occupants in my Sony S-VHS VCR (oh, yeah). Unfortunately, the VCR died and by that time, I had converted DVD player (Sony as well). I can't remember how long it took, but it was a while before they came out on DVD and I did buy them. I agree it would be totally awesome to have ZOO TV, PopMart, Elevation and Vertigo on Blu-Ray--all in one set.
