Subscriber neilz 11 Posted December 6, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted December 6, 2017 This album is a "gift" and what a great present to open before Christmas. Fitting that "gift" is also the name of the poem that Bono quotes before the performance of Get Out Of Your Own Way in Trafalgar Square. I looked this one up, it's by a Polish poet and it's beautiful. http://www.u2.com/news/title/in-london-for-the-mtvemas Gift A day so happy. Fog lifted early, I worked in the garden. Hummingbirds were stopping over honeysuckle flowers. There was no thing on earth I wanted to possess. I knew no one worth my envying him. Whatever evil I had suffered, I forgot. To think that once I was the same man did not embarrass me. In my body I felt no pain. When straightening up, I saw the blue sea and sails. Czesław Miłosz

I'm not sure how little kids connect with that song but I think it's great. When she was 2 she loved "Every Breaking Wave" and "Song For Someone," I hope U2 knows they are making a lot of new fans that are a lot younger than they had anticipated! That is funny. My little one thinks Blackout is a bedtime song! It has a concrete verse she can understand: "When the lights go out." LOL. When she was 2, she used to dance like a little elf to "California." That was the one she would ask for over and over. My 10 year old, however, prefers the Beatles (I won't complain) and was at least kind enough to say to me politely, "Is this the new U2, mom? It's nice."

Subscriber malaboo 10 Posted December 6, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted December 6, 2017 I have listened to the album many times now and decided to put in on "shuffle" in the car...big mistake. The order that the band have chosen just "feels" right and "sounds" right. When you shuffle it, it strays away from being an "album" and becomes just a bunch of songs, some of which are quite jarring when you don't know they are coming. Subscriber dermo 57 Posted December 6, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted December 6, 2017 Nice that people can give their opinions on the album. I would too if I had it. 5 days after release and still nothing form U2.COM. Hate saying it but my opinion of U2 is deteriorating rapidly. Well Bono may thank us for giving them a great life. It appears he is just paying us lip service as he looks for another East European shopping centre to invest his spare millions in. They charge crazy prices for tickets and then take pre orders for albums that they don't fulfill in a timely fashion.

Classic. Oh that's great. I sang those lines to my 5 and 10 year old today, along with the song while we were listening, and thought it was hilarious and fantastic. That is one thing, one of the many things, I love about this album. I agree, it is very intentional in its sequence, and putting Little Things, directly after The Showman is completely brilliant. "The showman gives you front row to his heartThe showman prays his heartache will chartMaking a spectacle of falling apartIs just the start of the show oh"

I haven't gotten any CDs yet (and I bought a number of tickets), and the download I was able to get from Ticketmaster/U2.com was in a format that I could only get onto my desktop and couldn't get into iTunes or onto my phone which is how I listen....so....I just paid the money to get it off iTunes. Yes the delivery is an issue but once I had the album in hand it all melted away, because it's SO good. I just can't let the delivery problems sour it.
