He plays a lot of gigs in Chicago.  It will be very interesting to see what they do.  I saw them on the Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness tour.  I waited until the day of the show and we got front row.  They were amazing.  I hope they stay together.  Today is one of my favorite songs.  Yet again, I am envious but very happy you enjoyed the show and had so much fun.  You do realize you are Steelers territory and soon we shall be rivals, yes?  Enjoy my grace while you can!   ?   J/K but I did live part of my childhood in the shadow of Lambeau Field so it's on, dmway.   ?

Much to my surprise, my next show is Dawes this coming Wednesday.  They are playing in a local record store.  It is a stripped down acoustic set. Earlier today,  I made sure I'm getting into it.  After the set, they are sitting at a table and signing Cds/Albums.  I'm beyond excited.  I already met the bassist when he was having a smoke backstage and he said hello. They know me and others because we are at so many of their shows and stand to be right up front. Meeting them in an official capacity is going to be weird.but I am psyched.  They are also opening for Jeff Lynne's ELO at the United Center later that evening.  I put out feelers for a cheap, cheap ticket to that show.  I'm going to go broke but I don't care.  It's music and I've never seen ELO.  Two Dawes shows in one day?  That is as good as it gets for me with music.   I cannot believe I'm going to see them play in a record store.  I shall have my fix sooner than I thought.  I cannot sleep!

I saw the Pumpkins on the same tour (unfortunately, after the accidental OD incident in NYC - so, Matt Walker on drums instead of Jimmy Chamberlin) - this was the first time I have been able to see them since then. Yes, I hope they stay together too. I was reminded how much I missed them seeing them again...

While many of my relatives are Steelers fans, I am not. In fact, I was overjoyed when the Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia (but I'm not an Eagles fan either; however, I was very happy that the Eagles won the most recent SB).

Enjoy your double Dawes! B)

Back on topic: my next show is Interpol in a tiny club in Philly. I can't wait! (Stay tuned - I just got a ticket to a bonus show for August today... :D)

Thanks.  My next show will be single Dawes.  As much as I'd love to hear electric Dawes and Jeff Lynne's ELO-the lowest ticket price is $106.   Seeing them as an opening band in a huge venue after seeing them in a record store might well diminish the stripped down free for fans show.  I'm popping in and out of Chicago and not spending a penny to keep it completely free.  It is a very cool thing to do for die hard fans..  I will buy something Dawes. Technically, my next show is the An Evening with Dawes 2018 Tour on Sept 8 at Codfish Hollow.

Respect to Jeff Lynne and ELO I'd love to see them too..The show is completely sold out but for those resale buggers.  So many shows these days.  It's a great time to love music.

After Interpol next week, I have two shows in one week - unfortunately, both involve long drives (especially, the first one), but both are worth it.

I'm seeing New Order in Washington, D.C. on the 28th; then, later in the week, for the first time in 15 years, I'm seeing The Fixx at a small theater in the Hudson Valley in New York. I can't wait for both! B)

Ziggy Marley with Steel Pulse at the end of the month in Asbury Park.

A local reggae band (Brother Jerome) is part of the bill and are playing inside the Stone Pony, I know their lead singer from yoga class. Should be fun.

Is the whole show in The Stone Pony? If so, that a great show in a very small venue!

I saw Robby Kreiger there about 12 years ago - it was the best Doors cover band ever! :D

I saw Lou Reed in another theater there not far away - is it called the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park?

Brother Jerome in the Pony then the others outdoors. The Paramount is right there in Asbury Park too.

That Robby Kreiger gig must have been outstanding in such a small venue. I went through a huge Doors phase in my younger years so I can only imagine how wild it was.

Ah, good! I remembered the theater name properly! ?

That’s cool that the rest of the acts are outdoors - reggae sounds and feels better outdoors. (But I’m sure Brother Jerome will make it work!)

It was amazing seeing Robbie in such a small place - as you might imagine, it was jam-packed! (When I was there, it was also difficult to believe that Bruce Springsteen played there regularly in the very early days; people must have been hanging from the ceiling and out the windows during his shows. It’s basically just a big-ish bar.)

I still remember when the show was announced - I almost did a spit-take with my drink. “Robbie’s coming here and playing where???” He must have wanted to play small places; he could have sold out the Paramount easily.

Have a good time! ?

I saw Ziggy Marley at Summerfest in June.  We were walking by and stopped and watched.  They always sound great.  It's fun to watch the crowd but what is that strange odor that keeps wafting by me when I do?   ?
