In comparison with re-issues from some other bands in recent years it compares very badly in terms of content. For example REM's, Automatic for the People and The Beatles, Abbey Road re-issues included great sounding new high resolution audio and 5.1 mixes on blu ray disc at lower cost. There was much potential for this reissue but unfortunately I have to agree with most of the other comments on here expressing dissapointment. Altough it is true to say it is impossible to please everyone, I think a band like U2 should be setting the bar for re-issues but I don't think this is the case here. Very well said. 👍 I highlighted the bit I agree with the most - this set, and the JT set released 3 years ago, would have really benefited with the addition of a BluRay audio disc with 5.1 and high-resolution stereo versions of each. Even people who didn’t have a surround system would benefit from this - you have room for all the b-sides and other extra tracks too on such a disc. The Beatles “Abbey Road” was done in Dolby Atmos too - talk about immersive sound! The best thing about Atmos is that the effect works even if you don’t have a dedicated decoder for it. Bono once sang “let me in the sound” - Dolby Atmos puts you there. Let’s hope such releases exist someday.

Subscriber Manohlive 2,514 Posted September 22, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted September 22, 2020 I like the packaging and art. It's too much money for me but looks nice. I just watched the video Bigwave posted. The book looks beautiful. It's what I most want and why I got a big ornery about this release.
Subscriber OB 21 Posted September 22, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted September 22, 2020 As expected great design and packaging. Too bad not much new content. Give the fans real value.
Subscriber cristiu2 70 Posted September 22, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted September 22, 2020 (edited) Admitting packaging looks great. Photobook by Anton is the only thing worth buying for me tough. But 100 euros is too much for only the book and the package alone. U2/universal should have taken a look at the new Prince 'Sign of the times' deluxe box. I would've paid double if the ATYCLB-box would've been like this. Edited September 22, 2020 by cristiu2
Subscriber realgonekid 16 Posted September 23, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted September 23, 2020 When you think about it, you get better bang for your buck from the subscription gifts, such as; U22, Another Time, Another Place live at the Marquee, The Joshua Tree Singles Remastered & Live, U2 LIVE SONGS OF iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE and U2 eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE LIVE FROM BERLIN. Most of this was previously unreleased or parts of it were. Where as the ATYCLB boxset is just old released stuff remastered.

Subscriber jfreel 8 Posted October 3, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted October 3, 2020 I cant help but agree with so many others on my disappointment with this release. I would be paying almost £100 for a book and the 4 remixes i don't already have and that is just too much. As for the live show - couldn't we have had one of the significant post 9/11 New York historic shows or the London shows when the crowd helped carry the band and Bono in particular at the difficult time with the passing of Bob Hewson? Such a massive opportunity missed and the first re-issue that i will not be purchasing.

And "remastering" an album from 2000 doesn't really make sense either. Mastering in 2000 was already all high-quality, digital, polished. Sure, they could have included a different concert, and possibly new video. But as for video, well, I'm not sure DVD or Blu-ray releases many any sense anymore. It's just not how people consume video. CDs are at the very tail end of being justifiable. But people just don't consume video via optical discs now. So they've really just packaged together (quite nicely it must be admitted) what they have, and are charging as much as they can get away with for it. To be honest, I don't really blame them - it's a different world now for a music artist (and their team) to generate revenue. They've got to come up with something, and this is it. Still, I'm content to pass, with no sense of regret or disappointment. And they didn't even package together everything they have. The single version of "Walk On" and the Tomb Raider Mix of "Elevation" are the two most glaring omissions. Then there was the Irving Plaza and Farmclub live b-sides. "Peace On Earth/Walk On" from the 9/11 tribute. The radio session versions of "Beautiful Day," "Stuck in a Moment" and "Elevation." "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands That Built America" could have fit in here as well. I mean, there's only 9 songs on the b-sides/outtakes disc for crying out loud! This is so disappointing after the previous reissues that at least did a good job of collecting all the b-sides and single versions and stuff like that. I think including a blu-ray in the box set would make sense as much sense as the CDs. I know plenty of people who still buy blu-rays or 4K UHD discs. I don't know anyone who still buys CDs.
