Much like everyone that heard the news yesterday, I am saddened that you won’t be joining the lads in Vegas, however it is important that you take care of yourself and come back healthier than ever!

Larry, you are the heartbeat of this band and I know that you will come back stronger than ever and hopefully not in any pain.

Best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Your Lala’s will be waiting for you ❤️

Best wishes, Larry, for a full recovery as quickly as possible for you, the founder and the very heartbeat of U2!

I’m sorry that merely doing the job that you love has taken such a physical toll on you. However, as we have seen with Alan White (from Yes) and Phil Collins (from Genesis and his own solo career), a lifetime of drumming can lead to back difficulties. We here are all concerned that you unfortunately joined these ranks as well.

However, you have the full support and love form the worldwide U2 fanbase, as we all know you have from Bono, The Edge, and Adam as well. Take all the rest and recuperation time you need; we’ll be here for you when you come back. Thank you for your entire career so far, and we look forward to witnessing your return! 🙏🍀❤️

Dear Larry, Wishing you all the very best for your recovery and health. You have given us fans so much over the years and we are forever grateful, but now it is time to look after yourself. Hope to see you back behind the drums again in the not so distant future, but in the meantime please take care and you will be missed.  Best wishes, Anissa ❤️

Dear Larry,

I am sure it was a big and heavy decision between everyone to have the band go on and play without you while you recover.  We will miss you and it won't feel the same without you, but my 35 years of loyalty to U2 isn't rocked by this.  I trust you, Bono, Adam, and Edge made the best decision you could.  Take care, and know that we can't wait to see you back on stage when you have fully recovered!  You're a lovely human and I'm grateful I got to meet you once and tell you in person how much I love your playing.

Wishing you health and peace,

Jenny

Larry, oh Larry!

Before the internet, news of your favorite band was hard to come by.  We had our Propoganda newsletter, album artwork, Rolling  Stone magazine and maybe even music videos if your family had MTV so any new piece of band news or media was much awaited.  When Rattle and Hum premiered in NYC my friend took me along as a plus one - he was a radio station contest winner.   It was in this movie that I was able to see behind the drum kit to what an amazingly kind and hilariously funny guy you are.   There were so many one liners that you threw out there in that film and to me your glow eclipsed that massive sun known as bono.   Through the years I always perceived you to be the voice of the fans, you looked out for us   Ensuring that the merchandise was good quality and that Propoganda was taking good care of us  - with Terri mailing us tickets from her living room.  You grounded things   Thank you for that

I am sad to hear that you are having surgery and wish you a speedy recovery   U2 cannot be U2 for me without you   Will I go see the Achtung Baby shows in Vegas - heck yeah! But they won’t count as U2 shows for me.  Not without you.

Thank you for all the parts of you that you have shared with us all of these years

Be well and do what you need to do for your health and you family

I hope to see you again on the next part of your “musical journey”

xx Diane
