Not really a big surprise - who is gonna download a single when you already have the track on the album. I'm sure most U2 single sales are to us obsessiveswho buy everything they release, either just to complete the set or to get any b-sides etc.

A download just doesn't have the same appeal as a physical format. And a 7" release is no use to me - too big for my CD player.

Dan, I think YOU are the one to eat your own words.

Here is what YOU said about "Magnificent" back in February 2009:

U2 is not part of the current "American Idol" school of overnight celebrity success that ends the following year.

They are seasoned musicians who have stood the test of time.

Their music will continue to be played long after no one knows who Adam Lambert or Brittany Spears ever were.

"Magnificent" is a beautiful song but may just be too good of a song to catch on with the Jordin Sparks/Jennifer Hudson crowd.

Their loss....certainly not mine.

Next time think before you speak, Dan.

This is what I just submitted to that website mentioned above (news of the world).

Let's see if they have the integrity to print it in their comment section.

Thanks to all of you who are standing up in the media for U2. I think that this is the least that we can do for them as their fans.

....anytime this world is free of one less opinionated arsehole in the media who simply wants to tear down & not build up - it matters.

Your voice in this world matters. This is what U2 have been telling us all our lives!

Why do we forget this when they are the ones who could use a bit of support?
