I often play music while out and about and on walks really good listening that way i totally agree. I run a few times a week and i noticed the album although i like it is terrible for running songs. Miracle doesn't flow... EBW, songs, and the last 3 are impossible to run to and there's not to many that have a quick solid running beat to it, most build up slow which doesn't really help unless you jog like a slug!.

I tried running, did a half marathon even... I actually prefer walking to running. For walking I loved it. Although I can see how the slow ones would be tough to run to.l lol :) I actually think U2 music in general is great for walking or running.

Now I can walk all day.  I just have too many feet issues to run.  But yes, walking with music playing in my ears.....medicine for the soul, IMO.

I just listened and it is so subtle...that I'm not sure that the voice I think is his is him.

I had the album playing while I went on my long walk today outside.  [best way to hear an album actually, I think] I'm not sure either. I do catch a hint of Chris's voice in the quiet ooo part. There is a higher pitched voice in there doing the background vocals which doesn't sound like Edge or Bono. My guess is either Chris Martin or Ryan Tedder... or both?? It sounded layered to me. I have no idea, I just like it. :D Great song, great album! I do wish they'd put that stuff in the liner notes but no biggie, it's kinda fun trying to figure it out. :)

Sounds like it's perfect for me.  :P Although a slug could probably run faster than me.

  3. It's funny. I swore I'd never own an iPod and then they had to come out with the U2 one and that is all she wrote. But I'm not one of the crazy people who has to go get the newest thing as soon as it comes out. I still have the U2 iPod, my 4s phone and I bought the iPad mini when Target had them dirt cheap this summer.

The 9th isn't too far off, I guess we'll find out then.

    One thing...

Least this time they have done a good job keeping fans guessing on what exactly they are doing,,, rather than leaking the album 2 weeks before the release date like last time!

Too true! :P  I like a little mystery. I'm actually quite intrigued as to what the album will sound like in the end with all of the producers they've worked with.

Where's the like button? Me too!

    Hi Chris

Look out for Anj she has a thing about Coldplay :)

Oi!! I will force feed you cheese and onion crisps if you're not nice to me y'know!

Now to Chris, nice to meet you, not surprised to see you in here, knew it was a matter of time really since we seem to chat about Coldplay more than U2 these days. You must have been listening to rock from a very early age if you liked U2 from the early 80's - were you put off from going to meet ups because you were still in a pram them/barely walking? I s'pose you could gurgle along to the songs. :)

Are people still mixing you up with James Morrison btw?

PS. We will always judge you lol

Hi I am 45 years old so I'm quite old in terms of being a U2 fan, I actually don't like Coldplay and I get comments thrown at me about my name but I am not as mundane and boring as THE Chris Martin.

As I said before I never went to meet up's because I have seen first hand how some U2 fans can be horribly obsessive and it really puts me off going to things out with concerts when it comes to U2 I'm sad to say, I have met the band a few times as I said before and have to say the behaviour from some U2 fans leaves a lot to be desired.

Welcome Chris.  And I just want to say that I'm not the least bit obsessed with Larry at all.  Just saying....

It's true, but nevertheless I feel sad about this news. Probably the place will be torn down soon. I've been there many times over the years. It's a pity a building with such symbolic value will disappear.

Everything is changing in Dublin, not even Molly Malone is where it used to be. And the entire area of Moore st (strongly related to 1916 Easter Rising) might leave soon the place to a mall/business area.

Wondering how long before something happens at HQ (but that building is more a private property)

It's true.  When I was there in 2008, I was surprised at how much it had changed since 1999 and even moreso, since 1993.  It made me very, very sad.  Dublin is not very "Irish" anymore nor do many of the U2 sites exist except for the Music Walk plaques on the wall.  The city that stole my heart is slowly disappearing.

I'm trying really hard not to get mad or upset b/c last time I did was during the Vertigo tour when Edge was dealing with some serious personal issues.  Who knows what is going on.  I almost wish that if it is taking this long to come up with stuff for the album, though, that they would just put us all and themselves out of misery and call it a day.

    :o

I know.  I can't believe I said that either.  But who knows, maybe they wish they could quit right now too, but can't because of that crazy contract they signed with LiveNation.

  8. Ouch!  A quote from Dangermouse:

As for the fate of his work on the highly anticipated U2 album, Burton claims to not have a clue despite the Irish band already releasing two songs from their sessions with him, the Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated Ordinary Love and the single Invisible.

"I don't really know - I just know it's not done," he said.

    But he's still the producer?

"I don't know. I'm working on Bells right now I have no idea what they¹re doing. I've been working on it for YEARS but I'm sure they're still working on the record."
