  1. ...and a certain cast of recurring characters that will remain nameless, I'd bet.
  2. Has anyone else heard of possible reissues this year for Pop, ATYCLB, and Wide Awake in America?
  3. still looking for 2 ga's for atlanta show if anyone ends up with extras... thanks!

  4. yeah... i don't know what happened with dvd-audio... when i worked for warner-elektra-atlantic in the early 00's, they put a few releases and it seemed like it would become the next big format, and it seemed to have fizzled just as quickly...
  5. hey, i'm not arguing taste. to each his own, whatever floats your boat. we all listen to music in different ways... i was just attempting to retort to that old argument that vinyl doesnt sound as good... p.s.- if you know where to look, you can still find vinyl reasonably priced... the new release, newly pressed vinyl are definitely overpriced marketing tactics, but for me, a guy who unloaded much of his vinyl back in the day for the revolutionary cd. replacing that collection can get costly, but if I can replace an old album for $10 or buy the download for $10, I'm taking the record. My choice... That said, I will also say that I'm not much of a space-aged, digital whiz kid and don't know much about the mp3/flac/wav/etc... to me, they're all downloads!
  6. from u2.com: UPDATE JANUARY 2018Following dispatch of initial orders in December, there were unexpected delays in production of the four 10” discs of The Joshua Tree Singles Vinyl Collection: 1987 & 2017. Production is now underway again and dispatch will resume in early February. We’ll email you as soon as your copy hits the post so that you know when to expect it. It's frustrating, I know...
  7. The only thing the band can be faulted for here is signing the deal with Live Nation. Now Live Nation promotes the shows, and as the parent company of Ticketmaster, handles ticketing, as well as all merch for U2 and, while I'm not 100% sure of this, they run u2.com also (see very bottom of u2.com home page), which would include subscriber gift. So... Live Nation should be the source of all angst, not the band directly. Just sayin'
  8. Agreed. I think anyone who doesn't think vinyl sounds as good, must have been listening to one of those 90's albums "released on vinyl for the first time" that was just basically pressed from a recording of the CD. Either that or they need a better sound system... Anyone who hasn't put the headphones on, dropped the needle, and kicked back with an open gatefold and liner notes you can read without a magnigying glass hasn't truly lived (IMHO)
  9. CD's are going away... https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/best-buy-is-pulling-cds-from-stores-and-people-are-freaking-out/ar-BBIK9Ej?li=BBnb7Kz If you care about the art of the liner note and are a believer in a tangible, physical format, go out and invest $100 in a decent turntable! If you're happy with soulless digital files, I support your requests also, though.
  10. I understand, the older and more settled we get, the more difficult it becomes to trow caution to the wind... My travel to shows has decreased dramatically since kids came along. I finally hit show 50 last summer for TJT in Miami after missing i/e completely for reasons mentioned. No show close by and not able to travel. I'm glad they added Atlanta this time because I swore to myself if they dissed Dr. King's hometown again, I wasn't travelling again. I will say best experience I had was Zoo TV, myself and 2 buddies went to Boston for St Patricks day show and all ended up with GA. Same for Charlotte. Have you been to u2start.com? It's a fan site... around tour time they usually have a forum set up for fans either looking to swap, acquire or sell. You won't always find what you want, but you can post what you're looking for and maybe get a result. Worth a try... Plus it's a cool site. If you're in NC, why aren't you trying Atlanta? And btw... I'm still convinced there will be seats released. That they are blocking out until they sell out the high dollar seats. I also suspect that this is why there haven't been more 2nd shows announced. I think they (LN/TM) were expecting us to revolt against that ridiculous $329 price point .
  11. Interesting. I have never in my experience (going allll the way back) have had difficulty getting tickets. I was lucky this time, too, but from what my peers have told me, this was the worse. I have travelled far and wide (before on line sales) and showed up with no ticket in hand always to find either a box office drop day of show, or a fellow fan with an extra. Proudly say I never paid a scalper... I do miss the interaction of the old days, camping out for tickets where you had to be there to buy them. Forged some friendships in those lines that still endure today. I still feel the only to suppress the scalpers is to go back to ticket outlets... Scalpers will still get some, but it'll cost them to pay people to stand in line, and they can't be guaranteed good seats... Anyway, as far as tickets for the kids go, I would keep checking the venue regularly for a ticket drop. Or, if the show is local for you, take the day of show off. hang out at the venue. I would bet you'll find a fellow fan who ended up with an extra and would rather sell to another fan and just recoup his expense... Keep the faith. Good karma always rewards those who trust blind faith!
  12. I normally wouldn't. With this new verified fan BS and the way other artists are doing it, I took a chance that buying from here might help my chances for ticket verification. Not sure it had anything to do with it, but I was in innocence group and had no problem getting a code or my GA tickets...
  13. I have been discussing that with a friend for years! There's great audio of them singing together at an early 80's Simple Minds gig on youtube... check it out.
  14. You may end up surprised... Mine was scheduled for 12/5 delivery and it actually delivered yesterday, on Sunday. I was so excited (still not as good as having on street date, but...) then I opened it and the corner was bent and there was a split on the spine. I'm hoping they'll replace it for me, but i doubt I'll ever order direct from U2.com again... I can live with the bent/creased corner, but a spine split on a brand new, sealed record is unexcusable...
  15. I'm loving it. Although I find it lame that pre-ordering the LP from u2.com couldn't (or wouldn't) ship it to arrive by street date. I could have ordered from any other on-line retailer and had it delivered today (for cheaper, I'm learning) I won't get until Monday. Very weak...
  16. Just FYI... looks like tickets are available now for Atlanta with no code. I just checked, you can get 2 tickets at the $175 price point still, but it looks like nothing but $175 or $329 are available.
  17. Congrats! From what I'm seeing, you're one of the lucky few.
  18. Did anyone manage to score GA tickets anywhere for general onsale?
  19. Exactly. In the 30+ years I've been seeing them, I've never been shut out and NEVER paid a scalper. Keep watching here, and at worst case scenario, go to your venue early day of show. You'll almost definitely find a fan with an extra ticket that just wants to recoup their cost!
  20. Keep the faith. It always works out. I've always ended up with a ticket. And over the years I've just shown up in cities day of show and found either box office ticket drops or a fan that had an extra to sell at face value...
  21. I believe thats just for accounting/tracking purposes. Most venues with GA have row and seat numbers on tickets these days...
  22. I'd wait it out. Show up at venue the day of the show. There will be real U2 peops with extra tickets that will be happy to offer them up for what they paid for them. Tried, tested & true since Joshua tree 87... Done it for nearly every tour.
  23. Maybe it was easier on my end because my venue wasn't ticket master. I dunno...
