  1. The streaming times are a bit annoying but they need to be fair to everyone.
  2. All 4 shows will be in 1080p with remastered audio. I've never seen Popmart, and last week I bought the DVD second hand but hadn't watched it. Now I might as well wait for the stream!
  3. Each show will be up for 48 hours apparently.
  4. This looks cool. Well done to all involved.
  5. Man, looking at Springsteens and Metallica's website makes me depressed. They literally offer recordings for every show and they're available to purchase in multiple digital formats or as a physical CD. Springsteen offers a discount if you purchase a whole leg, and Metallica will give you the recording free if you were at that show. I really wished U2 did the same. For one of the greatest live bands ever they really do release a minimal amount of live music. Come on LiveNation, there's money to be made here!
  6. I would like to see more content and value within the subscriber specials. They could release a live show every quarter for subscribers only, available to download as MP3s and to stream, but not physically as this would be too big of a cost and would have to be saved for the yearly gift. If the U2.com model looked like this I wouldn't complain at all: Yearly gift - available digitally and physically. Q1 Subscriber Special - Live Recording January - U2.com release a list of shows fans can vote for February - End of February voting closes March - U2.com release the live recording of the show with the most votes as MP3 downloads and available to stream through U2.com Q2 Subscriber Special - Live Recording April - U2.com release a list of shows fans can vote for May - End of May voting closes June - U2.com release the live recording of the show with the most votes as MP3 downloads and available to stream through U2.com Q3 Subscriber Special - Live Recording July - U2.com release a list of shows fans can vote for August - End of August voting closes September - U2.com release the live recording of the show with the most votes as MP3 downloads and available to stream through U2.com Q4 Subscriber Special - Live Recording October - U2.com release a list of shows fans can vote for November - End of November voting closes December - U2.com release the live recording of the show with the most votes as MP3 downloads and available to stream through U2.com. This would give us 4 live recordings a year as well as the yearly gift. I think we would all agree this is well worth the $40 or $50 we pay a year. If they follow this model it offers much more flexibility in the yearly gift too. They could offer a book, print, DVD, documentary etc as the yearly gift and people wouldn't feel hard done by because they also get live recordings (which the vast majority want).
  7. Please discuss all ideas for future subscriber gifts and subscriber specials here.
  8. Hi all, after speaking to fellow fans, we thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated thread in one place to list all of our ideas for future subscriber gifts and subscriber specials. In the past the mod team have asked us what the fans would like to see, so having all our ideas in one place would be a good idea. The purpose of this thread is to provide constructive and realistic ideas and suggestions. I'll go first. Subscribers Special - Pro Shot footage of a live song performance - once per month Using The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 as an example we can see that U2's social media team uploads short pro shot footage clips of songs from shows onto their social media channels. These clips are normally around 30 seconds long. It has been rumoured that U2 have recorded all their shows since ZOO TV, and their pro shot clips on social media and U2.com seem to back this up. It would be great if once a month we received as a subscriber special a full length pro shot clip of a song being performed live. For example, there is a 1 minute pro shot clip of Bad being performed live in India. It would be great if we had access to the full song. It doesn't matter if its not up to DVD quality, fans would still appreciate it. Another suggestion is to receive pro shot footage of Red Flag Day, American Soul and Love Is All We Have Left, as these were SOE songs performed on EI, but weren't on the official DVD release. Subscribers Gift - Live ZOO TV 1992 Audio Recording / film Next year marks 30 years since ZOO TV and fans would love to mark the occasion by receiving an audio recording or film from a 1992 indoor show. The official tour DVD from Sydney was filmed in the last leg, and because of this it didn't include Acthung Baby songs such as Ultraviolet and Wild Horses. Tryin To Throw Your Arms Around The World was cut. Releasing a show from 92 means that fans would have access to both the AB and Zooropa legs of the tour.
  9. Thanks for your words @Manohlive and there is no need to apologise. I did not feel singled out by your comment, I know you were speaking more generally and I simply replied to it. I hope you know that every time I reply to you its not with anger or sarcasm, it's me just having a normal conversation with a fellow fan. I do understand your point about how people (such as me) posting in this gift thread when it's not actually news about the gift can be frustrating, and a future gifts thread idea sounds great. I kinda made something similar before here. Maybe the two ideas could merge? I'd actually be happy to make a separate "Future Subscribers specials and Fan Club gifts idea" thread. Your idea of a DVD gift of an American EI show sounds great and I would love that. Unfortunately though I can't see that happening as the band weren't happy with the show that was filmed in Washington. We know though that U2 have recorded all their shows starting from ZOO TV, so there's absolutely nothing stopping them from releasing pro shot footage of American Soul (even include GOOYOW as the two songs are linked and segue) and Red Flag Day to subscribers as a subscribers special as these were Experience songs that were performed on EI but weren't on the official DVD release. They could even include Love Is All We Have Left because the NA intro was different to the European intro.
  10. What if the "it should be this or that" comments relate to the 2021 subscribers gift?
  11. They should make previous years gifts available for standalone purchase. I'm sure there's a warehouse somewhere with old stock laying about and I would love to purchase the older gifts that I missed out on - such as U22 and From The Ground Up.
  12. Didn't we have to vote for which Live Songs of I/E we wanted first? That was a bit weird. Just release the Apollo show all at once digitally. There's no need to stagger the release. No one will then have a problem with the physical CD taking a while to be delivered.
  13. It just means you get access to the Berlin 4K stream. Which if my understanding is correct, is only available for a year. So seeing how the stream was first released in March 2020, I would assume it disappears in March 2021, leaving us with only the DVD.
  14. Just out of interest have you tried it in another machine? Although I have seen many reports previously that all the DVDs have a skip during Vertigo due to the DVD being Dual Layered or something?
  15. Well if it's anything like the Sirius Broadcast then RFD will be cut and Wild Horses will be after Love Is Bigger, even though it was performed before it.
  16. The 360 cameras were also used at some EI shows. It's a shame we never got to see that footage either.
  17. The Apollo Concert was also filmed with 360 degree cameras, for a possible web project that has never been released. Apparently the audience was jumping so much that the vibration of the theatre caused problem for the footage recorded with the 360 cameras - especially the main one. The band did also film the event with traditional cameras and have uploaded clips of When Love Come To Town and Angel Of Harlem to YouTube. However when watching these you'll probably realise that the traditional camera footage is nowhere near the quality of an official home release. Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever get a Film of this event.
  18. Has Bono given up with his show then? Also Adam needs his own show.
  19. It was the outro song towards the end of the tour and was listed as a snippet when Bono ended the last couple of shows with the "Ooooh" part of The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone). I haven't been able to find a clip of the outro song itself (apparently it's an official remix), but you can see Bono snippet it here: 4 minutes 20 seconds in. I know when I went to Dublin 4 2018, they started to play the remix version over the PA when Bono was doing the snippet so it felt like a new song was starting. Man they really should have ended Dublin 4 or the last Berlin gig with a performance of The Miracle. Would have been a perfect way for it come full circle. Regarding the Berlin DVD itself, I think Bono snippeted it there too, and they used the remix on the credits so probably thought "what the hell, lets include it in the tracklist".
  20. This is different to previous gifts though. The Berlin film was originally planned for a commercial release on multiple physical formats and digital downloads. This would have meant everyone would have got what they wanted. Instead they only release it on a 480p DVD in a cheap sleeve and give you only a year access to the on demand stream. I'm just trying to understand how they came to the decision to do this. Could you imagine being the director of the film, or even working on the camera crew. You're filming a production with state of the art cameras and all of a sudden your client decides to only release it in 480p. It's a kick in the teeth. For a band that is known for using advanced technology on each of their tours, this was really a poor move. I wonder if the Heartland film will get the same treatment. Hopefully not..
  21. I am genuinely interested to hear their reasoning behind how they released this film. Was it always going to be the subscribers gift? (doubtful) Were LiveNation/Universal not confident this would do well commercially? Were they stuck for the Subscribers gift idea and were like "Ah we'll just give them Berlin" Were they unable to strike up a deal with Netflix/Apple TV to have this on streaming services in 4K? It always amazes how those in charge always manage to mess up things like this.
