Little Lemon - Final Version of the Drawing

pain_18_

This was one of the toughest drawings I've ever made. I had to 'go there'... It was easy and painful at the same time...

Inspired by U2's Lemon but for me it does not have the mother meaning at all, it has a whole other meaning...

Done in 4 or 5 Sessions, Awake but Mas - Drunk as Well...I held nothing back...Still Nobody gets me.

I think I just might have ruined it...

I wish there was someone to keep me away from coming back to temper with it constantly...

She's Gonna Make you cry...
She's gonna Make you whisper and Moan...
...When you're...

Beautiful. Lovely.

"Still Nobody gets me."  Hmmm. I think I get you, Chris.

And maybe her leggings are in the washing machine at the moment w/ a load of clothes.

And maybe she knows that the leggings are part of her identity - at least to you - and she's concerned that until she gets the leggings back, she will be separated from you. Did you ever think of that? You didn't? Are you sure it's not inconsiderate of you? JUST KIDDING. But seriously, this drawing was a great idea.

I love the coloration on the trunk. Such a rich coloring. Perfect.

(Btw, u have no business having such a great signature. Seriously though, it's a great signature.)

It seems to me that even w/out leggings, she has patches on her knees. Maybe representing past wounds from life. Man, this poor chic really needs some uplifting in life. To the artist, the art has his own meaning of course. Other observers might see other possible meanings via their own interpretations. A lemon can represent something that never had a chance. The tree could represent her life & the lemons are things that could have been, but didn't have a chance. In English, a 'lemon' can mean something that's broken or defective. She might realize that some of the world will see her as a lemon, whereas she knows the beauty & potential there. She would be sad that the world interprets the lemon aspect wrong - in a negative way.

Also, have you heard this saying: "if life hands you lemons, make lemonade."

But a person can't really clothe themselves with a lemon tree. She, like everyone, needs resources. Some have more than enough of that, some have enough, & some don't have what they need. As Christmas approaches, it reminds me:

Matthew 25:35-40:

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
