Here are some of the soldiers that were selected to witness an atomic bomb test from trenches with no protection other than dark goggles.
What they didn't know is that they were actually being used as guinea pigs to be studied on how a human being would be affected by nuclear contamination which explains some of the soldiers in this photo.
In those days Blacks and minorities were not allowed to stay in Las Vegas Hotels or be in the casinos. They were selected and made to feel special but the sad reality is they were actually lambs being led to the slaughter and a lot of these men died of cancer.
