  1. Cool Story - My wife and I went to a show in Chicago for the Vertigo Tour.  We had general admission tickets.  Got there early enough to be 3 people from the center of the "circle".  Needless to say, once the concert got going, it was hot and crazy.  It was not for my wife.  So, she said, "I'm just going to the back of the floor, I'll meet up with you after".  She went to get water and was walking back to the floor and passed the sound section.  One of the sound people said, "Hey, is that for me?" meaning the water, she said sure and threw it to him.  Well, he let her into the sound sections, sat her on a stool and put production headsets on.  She heard the voice feed from Bono's mic,all of the feed back from the production people, etc. etc..  I forget what song they were doing, but she said one point, one of them was yelling....all hyped up....saying,"HE'S ON...HE'S ON....HE IS IN RARE FORM.  LISTEN TO HIM TONIGHT.  HAVEN'T HEARD HIM THIS GOOD SINCE......"  Anyway, since this was about voice and all...she heard the raw voice feed and was amazed....and apparently so was the crew that night.  She left with that experience plus some crew (not for public) Vertigo memorabilia...pins, posters, etc..

We went to Chicago shows but they won't put the caps on the water so you can't throw them.  I am not trying to pour water on the story, pun, since that is cool but we had water and u could have the bottle but they take cap, or they put it in a cup, more easily spilled.  Anyway, I would like to think that is cool.

  2. Count me as one excited to see Bono's comments on music bringing people together.  U2 has always been about big ideas.

A show for the left, right, coasts and middle america is what is needed.  I think that quote was the best one I have seen to date.

I am excited for this tour way more than the last one.

  3. wow,  I had boston GA but got a note about over the ticket limit lol.  Now I know why.  I got it at 6 and 4 asked.  Had 4 in the presale.

Figures, TM is so pathetic they can't get their ticket limit posting info right LOL.  Sad.

  4. This is SO crappy for fans.  Period.

The pros still get their secondary market, there will never be no scalpers.  I mean look at TM itself trying to "grow their secondary market revenue".  That is from their press release in the horse race with stubhub.  The 2 big corporates battling it out woohoo.  And then us fans are left to drivel at each other with the quote from above "but only if you can be at the venue yourself to go to that show (and they meet you, go in with you, etc.)."  It is laughable that people can sing people have the power and not laugh at the silliness of it.  That is a joke.

Anyway, sure I could cancel my CC right now.  I could get a new CC#.  I could tell TM hey CC gone, put these NY GA's on another CC (a gift card).  I could sell them for $400 a pair on stub hub.  I mean it's doable, it's a pain but it's there.  So the pros figure this process is a cost of doing business, and they just buy them on the pre-paid cards at the start anyway and ship off that card with the stub hub sale.  us fans are screwed and U2 or other bands didn't prevent anything.  How many posts did we read last tour, wow couldn't make it 2 GA's not used etc.  Amazing it is allowed.  People have the power remember.  The secondary market is growing "low single digits" year over year, per their big companies, so this isn't stopping it.  But oh yeah, the fans get screwed.  I am trying to put a few shows together with my wife.  I met her on WIRE back in 1997.  I have traded GA's with a fan, without incident, every tour since 1997 until last tour.  Sad we can't carry each other.  (does this post have enough sentence fragments lol, sorry)

    So what is this system?

    1) screw fans while the big money laughs

    2) big money still makes money (and laughs while doing it).

It's simple really.  And bad for the fans that pay in to make the whole system go.

  5. Has anyone going to the Seattle show had luck contacting TM about refunding tickets? Sent them a message last night since it was after customer service hours, but haven't heard back. Had the same nightmare of not being able to find tix and grabbed the first set I could (in the 100-level), then later discovered GA/floor tickets through the app, so I bought those. Of course, it's credit card only, and apparently we can't sell them back, trade or ask for a refund? It appears CenturyLink doesn't participate in the whole 3-day refund program, either...

Glad I'm getting to go, but this was the worst ticket-buying experience EVER in all my years as a fan.  :(

Yes I got my Seattle GA refunded today on the phone.  I took them when Chicago was screwing me.  lol

  6. Actually, upon further investigation, it looks as if even tix that have a "sell" button (e.g., Chicago, Philly) are in fact not resellable through TM.  When one clicks on that, you get a code, which when entered ends up saying that the ticket cannot be resold because of the delivery method.  So maybe no tix are resellable at all.

WEll you can't sell yours resale before the public onsale, that is a law in Illinois.  So how Stubhub is not breaking the law of selling tickets before a public onsale is beyond me.  So I am going to try the sell button after the public onsale.  Our Boston GA's also have can't sell and they are paper and they can be.  So that message is the same for both CC and paper entry, so something has to give post onsale date.

  7. Bumping--really wanna know which venues are allowing reselling and which not!  Affects my plans (e.g., I might try buying for Croake park or whatever if I know I can unload the tix if I really need to).

I have a few cities they all have sell button, but I was told today I can't sell them if they are CC entry, which is against what their website says.  I got 4 NY GA's when I wanted Chicago.  I ended up with Chicago GA's now i have to get rid of the NY ones.  My NY has Sell button, along with Cleveland, Chicago, Pittsburgh Toronto.  All GA's.  All GA's they say you can sell and you think you can sell and then you can't sell LOL.

  8.

Only reason I ask is because I got 4 GA for Philly and need a 5th. Looks like there is no way to sell or transfer tickets, even through Ticketmaster. How are the scalpers getting around this? I feel pretty good that l'll be able to snag an extra ticket on Tuesday but if not....

maybe you can try and get a 5th during regular onsale using a different credit card?

yeah but sometimes you can't physically get there now.  oh boy.
