  1. In my experience, it is uncommon for stadiums to do more than let fans queue up on the hot pavement next to port-a-johns all day.

You are correct that the Pavillion is not actually within the stadium's walls, and that once you are numbered/wristband-ed by security you can come and go as you like. Unfortunately, you do have to receive those numbers/wristbands as an entire group.

  2. UPDATE: There is an unofficial, fan-initiated GA queue at FedEx Field right now. If they are forced off stadium property by security, they will regroup in the parking lot of a nearby Planet Fitness at 8509 Landover Rd, Hyattsville, MD 20785. If the queue is moved, then the meeting place for the GA Ticket Exchanges/Sales will also be moved to the same Planet Fitness. The meeting time will remain at 6:00am.

Thanks, friends. I don't drink, but I wouldn't turn down a bottle of water once we're on the floor in the pit!

Do you know how many people will get pre-screened? I guess what I am trying to understand is whether the queue for pre-screening will continue till 12PM or is there a limit as to the number of people who can be pre-screened?

There is a limit, but only because of the capacity of the Pavillion. If I'm remembering correctly, I think the first 2,000 will be admitted to the Pavillion. Pre-Screening can occur even after 2,000, but I assume those pre-screened after 2,000 will not be permitted into the Pavillion until the first group exits.

  5. GA UPDATE

    THE FANS:

There is indeed already a GA queue for the DC show, which fans started last night (6/18) at FedEx Field. They are set up in the Purple parking lot across from the stadium's Budlight Pavillion, roughly at marker G10. As of 12:00pm on Monday (6/19), there were roughly 80-90 names on the list.

Fans can show up and be numbered anytime. There is a check-in scheduled for 7pm-10pm this evening (6/19). After checking in, fans are being asked to return to the queue at 6:00am tomorrow (6/20). The fans plan to remain at that spot until 8:00am tomorrow, at which point they plan to be wristband-ed and numbered by venue personnel.

    THE VENUE

(The stadium was not expecting fans to start a queue two days before the show, so security had not yet begun policing the lots or blocking off street access to the stadium at the time the queue began. Hence, the line has hitherto flourished unchecked.)

As of 12:00pm today (6/19), the gent in charge at FedEx Field (and he really is a gentleman) restated that their policy would be to not honor fan-initiated queues/numbering, and to eject fans whom security finds on stadium property before 8:00am tomorrow. Those in first in line at 8:00am at Gate G will be those who are first in the Pre-Screen Queue.

    THE POSSIBILITIES

If fans must leave FedEx Field, the queue will regroup in the parking lot of a nearby Planet Fitness, located at 8509 Landover Rd, Hyattsville, MD 20785. Check-in times will remain the same, only the location of the line may change. The queue will remain there until the morning, when fans will walk in numbered order to Gate G of the stadium.

If the queue moves to the Planet Fitness parking lot, the GA Ticket Exchange/Sales Meet-up that was scheduled at 6:00am at Morgan Boulevard Metro Station, will be changed to meet at the same Planet Fitness parking lot as the GA queue.

It is entirely possible and probable that FedEx Field security will not honor the fan-initiated queue, and that it will be a free-for-all madhouse at Gate G at 8:00am. This information was provided so you can make an informed decision about where, when, and with whom you choose to line up.

  6. @bonoluvliz

I have just been informed that there ARE people queuing up for the D.C. show. However, this afternoon I spoke with the VP of Operations at FedEx Field, and he reiterated that fan-initiated numbering/queuing will not be honored by the venue. I'll look into this fan-initiated queue and update you with info as I get it.

If we arrive around 10am, do you think there will still be parking available there?

I really have no idea. It depends on how many people come early, if they drive or not, if they're willing to pay $60 or not. Your guess is as good as mine. Good luck!

Can you purchase parking for the Red Zone beforehand, or is it first come, first served?

@billsrule7 Red Zone parking passes were available for purchase on Ticketmaster, but they are all sold out now. You can still park there, you will just have to pay when you arrive.

  9. Tuesday, June 20th, 6:00 - 7:30am: Ticket exchanges/sales @ Morgan Boulevard Metro Station

If you still have extra GA tickets to sell or still need to buy GA tickets, fans will be meeting at Morgan Boulevard Metro Station's “Kiss and Ride” drop-off curb area for exchanges/sales. (There will be no numbering or lining up at this point. FedEx Field stadium security will be issuing wrist bands and numbers to fans who have verifiable GA tickets beginning at 8:00am, so it is imperative that you have a ticket if you wish to secure a spot in the Pre-Screen Queue.) Tickets can of course be sold/purchased throughout the day, we simply advise you to get tickets at this meeting before the Pre-Screen Queue starts if you want a good spot.

    7:30 - 8:00am: Getting to FedEx Field

After the meet-up, fans will be walking straight to the stadium. To walk from the Morgan Boulevard Metro Station to FedEx Field takes about 20 minutes. Fans can also take Uber or Lyft to the perimeter of the stadium’s property. (FedEx Field does have a special Uber drop-off area near the stadium, but that will not open until 1:00pm.) I am starting to get a little freaked out, I have GA tickets as well as actual seats for friends on the same card.  For other shows, they have been indicating that you can have your tickets printed up the morning of the show.  However, this is not in the most recent email that went out for DC, and I called the FedEx field box office just now, and they have no idea what will happen.  They seem to think everyone will be able to go through the GA line.  Has anyone else heard anything about this situation?  I don't want to have half my group sitting in the parking lot during the show because they could not get in the GA entrance.

    @deflep6202

I asked the person in charge specifically about your situation. He said he will check on it and get back to me tomorrow (6/17). I'll let you know what he says as soon as I hear from him.

    2) One question regarding pre-screen queue without entire party: 1/2 my party is arriving well after gates open (my husband and kids). Can't I do the early bit without them, and then go back out and meet them once they arrive?

Security says you'll have to wait for them before you can get wristbanded/numbered, but I can ask them again if you want.

  12. Ok, folks! Here’s the deal with GA at FedEx Field!

    Night Before the Show (6/19):

There is no camping or assembling allowed at the stadium the night before the show and street access to the stadium will be shut down. Fans will be dismissed from the premises and considered trespassers until 8:00am on the day of the show. There will be no numbering or lining up until the following morning, when stadium security will issue wrist bands and number GA ticket holders.

    Day of the Show (6/20):

    6:00 - 7:30am: Ticket exchanges/sales @ Morgan Boulevard Metro Station

If you have extra GA tickets to sell or need to buy GA tickets, we recommend you meet up with other fans at the metro station’s “Kiss and Ride” drop-off curb area. There will be no numbering or lining up at this point. FedEx Field stadium security will be issuing wrist bands and numbers to fans who have verifiable GA tickets beginning at 8:00am, so it is imperative that you have a ticket if you wish to secure a spot in the Pre-Screen Queue. 8:00am: Parking @ FedEx Field

If you are driving your own car and planning to park, the Red Zone parking lot will be open at 8:00am to accommodate GA ticket holders who are arriving at the stadium early. (The title, “Red Zone” refers only to the stadium’s specific parking lot, and has nothing to do with U2’s “Red Zone” tickets.) The “Red Zone” is open to whomever chooses to purchase parking there for $60, even if you have not purchased a parking pass online ahead of time. Lot attendees will accept cash or credit card. To enter the Red Zone parking lot, please follow directions available at the following link: (http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/parking-and-directions.html).

    8:00am: Pre-Screen Queue @ Gate G “Budlight Pavillion”

Stadium security will issue wrist bands and numbers to fans with verifiable GA tickets, on a first-come-first-served basis at Gate G of the stadium, beginning at 8:00am. To qualify for admittance in the Pre-Screen Queue, you must provide the exact credit card used to purchase your ticket(s) and a valid photo ID. All previous fan-initiated queues/lines/numbering will be null and void. Fans without verifiable GA tickets will not be given wrist bands or a place in the Pre-Screen Queue. Fans with more than one ticket must have all persons in their party present in order to be admitted into the Pre-Screen Queue.

    8:00am – 12:00pm: Waiting Around

Once you have been admitted to the Pre-Screen Queue (received a wrist band and number from stadium security), you may come and go at your discretion until 12:00pm.

If you have not yet sold/purchased GA tickets necessary for you/your party’s entry, use this the time to meet with other fans to do so. Return to Gate G for your admittance into the Pre-Screen Queue once you have your tickets sorted.

Fans who have problems gaining entry with their tickets can visit the Ticket Resolution centers at either Gate A or E. Standard Will-Call counter is located at the Gate A Ticket Office. Red Zone and VIP Package Will-Call counter is located at Gate E Ticket Office. If you or anyone in your party requires ADA seating or assistance, please report to any Guest Services booth. ADA seating is limited and distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Tailgating is permitted in all parking lots, including the Red Zone. If you plan to tailgate, set up chairs or shade tents, please read the stadium’s rules for tailgating before you arrive. (http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/stadium-guide.html)

12:00 – 4:00pm GA Entry into “Budlight Pavillion”

At 12:00pm, the stadium will welcome the Pre-Screen Queue into FedEx Field’s “Budlight Pavillion.” Here, concession shops, legit restrooms, trash & recycling receptacles, and smoking areas will be accessible to GA ticket holders. (This is a privilege that most other stadiums have not afforded to U2 fans. Please be conscientious of stadium rules and make the tribe proud. Remember to return personal items to your vehicles, and clean up any tailgating you might have done before you enter the Pavillion.)

Once admitted to the Pavillion, GA ticket holders may come and go as they please, but must be at their place in the queue inside the Pavillion by 4:00pm.

    3:00pm: Parking @ FedEx Field

All other parking lots will open at 3:00pm. Please check the FedEx Field website for directions on how/where to enter other parking lots. (http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/parking-and-directions.html)

    4:30pm: Walk to the Floor

At 4:30pm, stadium security will escort the GA Queue to the floor of the stadium. Please do not run to the floor; there will be plenty of amazing spots for everyone who is in line by 4:30pm.

    5:00pm: Open GA Entry @ Gates F & G “Budlight Pavillion”

All GA ticket holders must enter through Gates F & G at the “Budlight Pavillion.” GA ticket holders who arrive after 5:00pm can make their way to the floor at their leisure.

    7:00pm: The Lumineers

    9:00pm: U2

    11:15pm: Approximate Concert End Time

If you want to catch the last metro train out of Morgan Boulevard Station, we recommend that you leave the concert before the end. It takes around 20 minutes to walk from the stadium to the metro station.

11:27pm: Last Train Departs @ Morgan Boulevard Metro Station

    Permitted/Prohibited Items:

Ticket holders may only enter the stadium with permitted items inside of a 12”x6’x12” clear plastic bag. For a list of prohibited/permitted items, please visit FedEx Field’s website (http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/stadium-guide.html).

Cameras are permitted, so long as detachable lenses are under 5”.

Fan-made signs or flags are permitted, so long as they do not obstruct the view of other fans.

Smoking (tobacco or otherwise) is not permitted on the floor, unless you are Larry Mullen Jr. and are smoking hot.

I went to the stadium last Saturday (6/3) to figure this out. The security guard I spoke with was also very nice. He said that the only parking lot that will accept cash will be the Gray Lot. In regards to the GA line itself, he mentioned that GA ticket holders will enter through Gate D, and said that more concrete details about times would be released closer to show date (6/20). I also sent an email to FedEx Field, asking about all this stuff. I have yet to hear back from them, but will post their answers here as soon as I get them.

I went down to the stadium today and met with the person who will be in charge of GA admission, and everything else that day. Turns out there was a lot of conflicting information being told to fans. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to post all the info I've found out. I'm just waiting for this gent to approve of the note I drafted.

Does anybody have any updated parking lot information for FedEx Field? I called yesterday and confirmed that there will be cash lots open on the day of the show. I've never ordered a parking pass in the past, so figured why start now?? In any case, I was told that the Green lot would be cash, but that none of the lots will open until 3pm. I find that to be highly improbable, as I'm sure that there will be many people in the GA line long before 3pm. The person I spoke to was very pleasant, but informed me that they will not be allowing a GA line to form prior to parking lots opening at 3. Again, highly improbable. I'm sure that there must be at least one lot opening before 3pm, but wondering if it will be a cash lot.
