The comparison between an authorized, for profit, live release with a periscope video shouldn't pass your smell-test either.

Take a deep breathe my fellow fan, it's not that big a deal that we see things differently. Certainly, no need to lose your mind over it or get your philosophical knickers in a knot.

Knickers are where they should be, I am sipping tea in my back yard and enjoying a fine sunny day.  Just because we don't agree doesn't mean the other party has higher blood pressure than the other.

Taking things down to the personal level, though, shows you're intellectual tank is dry.  We will simply have to agree to disagree.

Kinda hard to not only include, but highlight the use of that technology, then complain about it when one isn't in control of it.

The logical fallacy here blows my mind.

Bands have been prohibiting audio recordings at concerts for decades and then they themselves put out live albums.  I guess by your logic that's wrong too.

It's their intellectual property, not anyone else's.  They have every right to publish it in the manner they see fit.

Says the guy who brought up an audience member at every show on their last tour to periscope a song!

A Periscope that that the band agreed to as part of the show.  Big difference.

  4. We are the first show after the Manchester attacks.  Please stay safe and alert, my friends.

If you see something odd, say something!  It's warm here so items like long coats, thick jackets, etc should raise your eyebrows right away.

According to a recent email from NRG:

    General Admission Entry Policy:

    -        We will not permit GA line formation overnight from Tuesday, May 23rd to Wednesday, May 24th. HPD will be patrolling outside the stadium to assure no lines are formed.

    -        GA line formation may begin at 6:00am on Wednesday, May 24th outside Bud Light Plaza on the South Side of the Stadium.

    -        Parking Gate 9 will open at 6:00am on Wednesday, May 24th to accommodate GA line formation. Parking is $20 per space with no in-and-out privileges. Only cash will be accepted as payment.

    -        Bud Light Plaza will open at 2:30pm. Upon entry to Bud Light Plaza, our prohibited items policy will be enforced and any and all prohibited items must be returned to your vehicle. These items include but are not limited to outside food and beverage, coolers, folding chairs, and blankets.

    -        No concert merchandise will be available in Bud Light Plaza.

Is that from NRG directly?  Because their web site says something different in regards to lining up and parking.

  6. 22-24 songs deep ... that's pretty much on par with past shows.  Here's the set list from the Rose Bowl ....

05/21/2017 Rose Bowl - Pasadena, California, USA
Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day, Pride (In The Name Of Love), Where The Streets Have No Name / California (There Is No End To Love) (snippet), I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, With Or Without You / Shine Like Stars (snippet), Bullet The Blue Sky, Running To Stand Still, Red Hill Mining Town, In God's Country, Trip Through Your Wires, One Tree Hill, Exit / Wise Blood (snippet) / Eeny Meeny Miny Moe (snippet), Mothers Of The Disappeared,
encores: Miss Sarajevo / The New Colossus (snippet), Bad / America (snippet), Beautiful Day / City Of Stars (snippet), Elevation, Ultra Violet (Light My Way), One, The Little Things That Give You Away

Some venues are being forced to shut down due to local curfew laws.  I know Santa Clara imposed a 10:00 pm curfew.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show myself. It's about the music and I enjoyed it immensely.

I don't think the band gives a rip about cameras & mobile phones taking pics. If they did, it would all be banned. Can it be annoying, sure. Is it ruining the show? No, not at all.

Bono disagrees with you and has indeed spoke on the issue.  They hate it and it ruins his energy.  I'd bet that if it continues, they will indeed ban GA and RZ folks from pulling out their cell phones.  And I hope they do it.

How could you have been to four RZ's now?  There's only been 3 shows so far--?  Also, when you say there's not a bad place to stand, what about the RZ being so far off to the left of the main stage?

They've had RZ at other tours too.  During 360, I went to 6 shows, 4 of which were RZ.

Looking at the pics that have come out thus far, I don't see RZ being "so far off to the left".

  9. Just because social media isn't going anywhere doesn't mean the practice needs to be tolerated or enabled.

Ignoring for a second that the practice is flat out piracy and wholly illegal in the US, it's still very distracting to both the fans and the band.  Just because there's a selfish few who wish to engage in this practice doesn't mean they need to given the means to do it.

I agree with rlj1010.  Ban it all.  Provide a means to lock up your phone at the venue and if you're in the GA or RZ, no cell phones.

  10. I'm 44 and have been to about 25 shows, give or take.  Never sat down and actually counted (and I don't count Popmart ... blech).

Used to be a GA junkie, progressed to seats and as my income grew with my age, have been going to the RZ when available.  Seeing them in Houston next week but that may be my only concert this tour.  I am hoping they tour to support SoE and I will go all out then and try to pack in 6 shows at least.

Took my pilgrimage to Ireland in 2009 and saw the boys in Croke Park.  Magical trip and an amazing night.

  11. I am going to the Houston show and this is the email we got two days ago.  It reads much like RZ fans have received for the previous shows.  This should give you an idea how they're running the RZ for this tour ..... and remember, a Ravens fan had to clue you in on how things work .... ;)

"ATTENTION:  Please refer to the following information regarding the collection process for your (RED) ticket(s) purchase.

This package is NON-TRANSFERABLE. Please bring PHOTO ID matching the ATTENDEE or PURCHASE NAME on your order. All members of your party must be present when you collect your tickets.

I provide links that I find via Twitter in the live threads for people who wish to watch them. However, I don't ask people to do them, nor do I personally understand why someone would want to hold up their phone during the whole show; but that's  their prerogative and the age we live in. When I thank them, it is on behalf of the people who have watched them and enjoyed them.

We will have to agree to disagree.  To me, you're enabling a practice that the band hates and robs live shows of their energy.

    From a few posts up:

When can fans start lining up for general admission? One parking gate will open at 11am and Bud Light Plaza will open at 1pm for GA fans to begin lining up.
Where will the general admission entrance be located? GA guests will enter on the south side of the building. They will go through security in Bud Light Plaza and have their tickets scanned at either the Ford or Amegy Gates.

I would be pretty surprised if there isn't a significant line forming at 1:00.

Yes, there will be.  I just don't see it being an issue since this is exactly the same thing they did in 2009 and it ran smoothly.
