I must admit I have been guilty of this in the past but for IE I took hardly any pictures and for TJT I'm going to try and not take my phone out once (I don't need to as there will be photos from the rest of the crowd online :p).

Although without the phones, how would everyone on the various live threads get their periscope fix? Maybe there should be an official feed for every show.

We should even remotely care about catering to people who want to pirate feed a concert?  Eff them.

I agree to an extent.  One thing Bono has always been proud of has been his ability to break down the barriers between the band and the audience.   I'd like to see him at least try.

I think he is trying.  But there's considerably more people doing it this time around than with 360.

Just look at the live threads from the first three shows.  Numerous people proud of the fact they're Periscoping the concert, completely oblivious to their affect on Bono, the show and everyone else around them.

Not too long ago, even at bad shows, Streets got the crowd pumped.  Now all I see are cell phone screens.

  3. I suspect its the sea of cell phone screens he has been forced to sing past the last three shows.

All three shows so far, pictures of nothing but people standing around like zombies, cell phones raised up recording the show instead of moving to the music.

I have a feeling there will be an unofficial line until the actual line can line up. No idea where it would be.

There wasn't in 2009 for the 360 tour.  This is pretty much the same way they did things in 2009 and it was rather smooth.

Have to agree 100% with Phill (including the expletive deleted lol).Whats wrong with people? Take a few pictures - fine. But standing there half the night with camera aloft?Get a life!

Watch the opening of the Paris Elevation dvd. A show that half the world knew was going to be filmed and what are half the crowd doing? Filming it!!!

Good point and I kind of give that crowd a pass.  At least they jumped around and got into it.  Seattle and Vancouver GA's looked like people were filming a funeral and not moving.

StinkyJay, I will be in RZ Houston, too! I promise I won't hold a phone up and block your view! ;)

However, I will be wearing the highest heels my feet will tolerate so that I can see over the tall men.

I might be one of those tall men!  Last three RZ's, I was a rail hugger but I am actually considering just sitting back from the mayhem and just take it all in .... assuming I can see past the cell phone screens. :)

    What did I miss?

Between that and the Seattle thread, in just about every crowd pic, its a sea of cell screens.  The same people who line up for the rail or get up close in GA are typically the same people who post here -- die hard U2 fans.

I have noticed this happening at a lot of shows since the invention of "Smart Phones." However, there was one show, recently, where this didn't happen so much. It was at a Garbage show. :) It was so nice to see people actually watching the show.
But... yeah, let's try to be considerate. I doubt the people who read this are the people who engage in this offensive behaviour, though.

Go read the Vancouver show thread

While I totally agree with you, meaning I wouldn't photograph and record if I were there, I'd live the moment.......It's very nice to see some people sacrificed their experience for us (i.e me) who can't be there in person, so I can watch the concert myself..........

You don't think that affects the band too?  I totally get why Bono hates the practice.

Buy the DVD if you want to see the concert and can't go.  Don't ruin it for everyone else and the band.

  10. Just got the email yesterday ....

"ATTENTION:  Please refer to the following information regarding the collection process for your (RED) ticket(s) purchase.

  11. Watching the clips from this concert (and Vancouver) and holy Jeebus, did enough of y'all have your phones out the entire show?  Every crowd shot of the GA groups and all I saw was  asea of cell phone screens and nobody moving to the music.

What's the point of going to the show if you're just going to stand there like a zombie and record the whole thing?

  12. I almost started a thread on this as well.

Im watching some of the clips of the first two shows and seeing the number of people just standing their like zombie filming the concert is very disheartening. I don't remember this many people with cameras at the 360 shows.

Put it away, move with the music and enjoy the show.

That is a great shot!  I was at the Joshua Tree tour 30 years ago and was trampled, so I am hoping for a much better experience :)  Once you were in, did you find it was easy to step out but still get back to your spot?  Also, it sounded like you would have preferred getting closer to the stage, rather than the ramp?

If you step away from the rail, have whomever you're with "spread out" so nobody takes your spot.  But even if you don't get your spot back, RZ is has a lot of room so you can still see a great show no matter where in the RZ you happen to be standing.

  14. And BTW, a VIP Entrance doesn't mean its separate from everyone else.  This is my 4th RZ concert and while you do enter the building via the same entrance as the GA folks (Ford Entrance on the SW corner), you don't enter with them.

You have a separate line, tent, etc and you even have 'ushers' that will escort you to the area.  It's about as VIP as things get.  That's the whole point of the RZ entrance.  You can get there an hour before the concert and you're going to get right to the RZ area without having to deal with the crowded nonsense of the GA folks.

  15. Just got my notification email.  RZ will indeed have its own entrance.  From the email I received ....

"Your (RED) Zone ticket(s) and wristband(s) will be available for collection from the (RED) Zone Check In tent located at FORD ENTRANCE, as shown on the map below.  Please look out for the (RED) Zone signage. Rest easy.  Looks like things are as advertised.

  16. This will be my second RZ concert and its an amazing experience.  I didn't know I could walk between GA and RZ.  Might have to explore that option.  Having a dedicated bathroom and beer stand is also a nice perk.  Most likely, I will park my butt right up against the barrier and not leave once the concert starts.

  17. This will be my 4th RZ and I cannot wait!  Does anyone know of the time they will start letting people in?  Need to arrange a sitter and also want to make sure we get there early enough to get right up on the security barrier.
