Just wondering, when the first dates of the Elevation and Vertigo tours get announced? Because ATYCLB and HTDAAB were both released in autumn 2000 and 2004, but then the tours started in spring 2001 and 2005. Given that we can probably expect the tour for SOI to start in spring, should we have had an announcement by now?

With any luck it won't take his arm as long to recover as his back did, and even then the only shows that are being cancelled are the residency on the Tonight show, which can probably be rescheduled to be done pretty soon.

Today they said to a Spanish radio that the tour will start in May of 2015 and it will last two years.
Two years. If it starts in May it'll probably be starting in Europe because that's the sort of time at which a lot of big bands tour Europe.

Don't think it will start in Europe
Barcelona in November 2015
A whole year away
Announcing a tour a whole year in advance is ridiculously soon. I'm feeling cynical.

Adam is toting the 'two different gigs in each city' idea again - again the suggestion of the loud rock & roll night followed by the acoustic night. If that's the case I'll get a ticket for the the loud night in the presale then try for a ticket to the acoustic night in the general sale.

I do find it a bit bizarre that they'd do Croke Park (a stadium) amid a lump of arena gigs. I mean, I know they did Slane during the Elevation tour, but that was a festival.

Yeah its a simple sales strategy. I remember when the Rolling Stones announced Hyde Park they announced it 10am and pre-sale was 3pm the same day people panic bought tickets that quick they didn't have chance to think about the fact they were paying £150 - £500 a ticket, I know because I bought some
U2 will most likely announce the tour dates on a Monday with a pre sale Weds/Thurs and general sale on Friday. If i remember correctly thats exactly how the first announcement of the 360 tour worked.
I would start getting your cash together now...
Yeah, announcements usually come on Mondays with presale tickets on Wednesday at 9am and general sale tickets on Friday at 9am too. Luckily my college timetable doesn't inhibit my ability to be online early...

Tickets do always go on sale within a week of the announcement. It's very rare for bands to put tickets on sale ages after they were announced.

To be honest, all the madness that ensues in trying to get tickets for big gigs is why I'll probably stick to just one gig in one venue personally - unless they are following through on the acoustic/electric thing.

Lots of gigs in one city, varied setlists/stage designs...the possibility of hearing Acrobat played live...Larry stop being a tease!

I find it curiously amusing that the next album is meant to be called Songs of Experience, because there's a Joshua Tree demo (on the deluxe version) that has the title 'Beautiful Ghost (Introduction to Songs of Experience)'.

New Rolling Stone says indoors for SOI jumping to outdoors with SOE - or something like that, haven't really read the article yet.
Hopefully that includes the UK for both SOI and SOE. Muse did arenas around the release of The 2nd Law in autumn 2012 then moved into stadiums during summer 2013, hoping U2 do something along the same lines.

Awesome news thanks, I will always be gutted I missed 360, but I do look forward to an arena gig, been watching the Boston 2001 DVD and loving the closeness with the audience, the sound is usually better in an arena too and do like to feel the bass from my fingers to my toes! Bring it on boys
Me too! I was annoyed about missing the 360 tour, but any chance to see them is a good one for me! Bring it on!
