  1. Ok... so I've given this subject more thought.

After watching U2 perform 2 live shows in person, and watching other shows live on Periscope, etc., I've come to the conclusion that Bono, The Edge, and Adam totally feed off of the energy of the fans. (I never know for sure what Larry is thinking LOL!) But you can see happiness on their faces when the audience is really interacting. It's almost as if we, the fans, put on a show for them, too. They truly seem to CARE if we are having a good time. I think it really is important to them that people are still listening to and enjoying their music.

How awful would it be if no one showed up to try and meet them and/or get an autograph? I sort of think they'd rather see a crowd of people waiting - instead of no one at all.

So I'm not going to feel guilty any more! I still love to listen to U2. I enjoy their music and I admire them. And I want them to know!  :)

  2. We will soon see Bono play guitar again. I've been watching videos throughout this tour, and it seems to me that he's moving around a lot better now than he was at the start. Also, on the CBS This Morning interview, he talked about how he could not close his fingers together. I've been watching those fingers... He can close them now. Look at some videos from last night in Montreal. He might not be able to play like he did before, but I think he will play. After all, he is Bono.

    Thoughts?

    Is this just wishful thinking?

  3. I definitely agree that they put on a show with a theme. This is something that I enjoy very much.

Still I think there are opportunities to mix it up a bit. For example, instead of Every Breaking Wave, maybe substitute Sleep Like a Baby or The Troubles. That would be cool. (Nothing against Every Breaking Wave, though! I do like it.)

However, certain songs HAVE to stay in the show -- like Sunday Bloody Sunday + Raised By Wolves -- or they'd lose the whole theme.

Also, on the subject of people measuring whether a person is a "true" fan by the number of shows a person has been to... That's just not right. I've been a fan for 32+ years. I've been to 12 shows. I have a HUGE collection of books, CDs, magazines, tour programs, vinyl, etc. I am a TRUE FAN. However, I don't have the type of job where I can get unlimited time off, or the $$$ to go to all the shows I'd like to go to. Tickets to the show itself, airfare, hotels, or even just the price of gas to drive... that adds up - fast. Don't feel like less of a fan if you haven't been able to go to many (or even any) shows. I was a HUGE U2 fan at age 19 even though I never got to see a show until I was 27.

  4. These are my thoughts about Red Zone experience at Phoenix night 2 in regards to the Ticketmaster advertising:

Barricaded area adjacent to the Stage

The area indicated on the Ticketmaster map was NOT the area where the Red Zone was located in Phoenix.

    Extremely limited capacity

This was true, there was much more space in the RZ are in comparison to GA.

    VIP Entrance to the venue

This was sort of true. We had a separate line and were allowed to enter before others. We were not treated like "VIPs" LOL.

An opportunity to be selected for a pre-show backstage tour

You HAVE to be standing in the RZ area when they do the drawing or you won't know who has been selected.

Access to the (RED) Zone refreshment stand

We had to use the same refreshment stands and restrooms that everyone else in the venue used.

Please note: The (RED) Zone gives you access to an exclusive VIP area directly adjacent to the Stage with special amenities and dedicated staff, all while raising money in support of (RED) and the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. A portion of the proceeds from your purchase supports the (RED) campaign.

Only a few feet of the RZ are adjacent to the stage. There were no special amenities. I can only hope that some of my ticket price went towards support of RED.

To sum it up: in the future, I will buy GA tickets and donate directly to RED. That said, I did enjoy the show very much.

    However, I detest Ticketmaster.

  5. For Red Zone in Phoenix (night 2), they gave us raffle tickets. They did say we needed to be there by 6:30 to be eligible for the "drawing" (but I think we got there around 4:30 LOL!)

However, I don't know when or where they announce the winner because we stood in the regular GA section.

  6. At the 2nd show in Phoenix, 23-May, we had Red Zone tickets.

They did let us in before GA.

We quickly looked at the Red Zone area - we had North Side. It did NOT appear that there were either a private bar or restrooms for the Red Zone. They told us we'd have to go back out to the regular restrooms and concession stands.

We ended up going into the regular GA area because they said we could do that. They also let us go back to the Red Zone if we wanted to.

Because we were standing in the GA area when they did the drawing for backstage passes, we missed out on that. So just be aware if you really want a chance for the backstage pass, you will probably have to be in the Red Zone when the drawing occurs.

  7. A few years ago, they did a small show at one of the local clubs in Boston. I lived there at the time and tried soooo hard to win tickets, but no luck.

It would be great if they did another show like that -- similar to what they did at the Roxy -- but I doubt it.
