  1. There's a small car park with 260 seats but the issue is that the whole ground gets closed off for event days by police etc. I think it's likely security will be very, very tight given the terror threat and attack last night. Shuttle buses run from Richmond station if that helps. The stadium site is actually pretty accurate on this. I live in Kew so am gonna walk it basically.

  2. As a millenial, I feel this is an affliction that curses us all. It's not just gigs. How can you be moved by something if you're constantly trying to record it?

It gets ridiculous, especially with engagements and things that are supposed to be sacred live events. If my girlfriend proposed to me and brought a film crew, not only would I say no, but some expensive equipment would get damaged.

Few things on this earth beat being in the moment when 'streets' opens. Why you'd want to experience that behind a screen is beyond me.

Quite right, too. God save the Queen.

Or are you setting up a full game of risk?

LOL - I am now - only, in a U2 themed twist, instead of invading countries, it's about getting them to collectively sign up to an Amnesty petition.

More seriously - I think 9/10's sensible. I love U2, but there's a trade-off between being at the front and being knackered

  4. I'm gonna head there for around that time, but I live three miles from Twickenham, it's my birthday and my mates will be there with beers (not too many, I'm not an idiot) and chairs and maybe disposable board games so I'm a bit weird. I heard from someone at Seattle they got there for 4pm and got a good spot just a couple of rows in front of Edge, but I'm a bit paranoid.

My guess would be it's a popular gig, so I think around noon would be a safe bet - go early if you're uber keen. What I wouldn't do is panic based on the US shows - it always seems tense outside the stadium, but once you're in, there's always quite a lot more space towards the front then you think.

I'll probably rock up around 9/10, but I'm a little weird. My mates will probably detest me by the end of the day. See you then maybe! And if you do go early - Fry up beforehand.

  5. This is so boring. I'm actually turning 29 on the day of the gig, and this is the sort of forum post you make in your late twenties versus your early twenties.

My mate's coming down from up North, near Preston, and Virgin Trains has tickets listed for £90. NINETY. Searched for Preston - Crewe and Crewe - London and broke up the journey, and saved 40 quid, with a first class return journey. Absolute bargain. Crewe - London was NINE POUNDS. (£9)

Again, news of songs of experience's release date it ain't, but for those flocking to the gig from the North, well worth considering. Be sure to use private browsing mode or google incognito so the train companies don't whack up the prices.

    Not long now!

    Mike

  6. Honestly, I'd ring the venue. A lot of the 'on paper' promises are treated with a degree of common sense in real life. Unless they're going to ID your daughter, could she be 12 or 14? I think it's more really young kids that probably don't actively want to be at a rock show they're trying to screen out.

Ring them though - but I suspect they'll have a common sense approach.

  7. The answer to the thread title is that me and David James had a quiet word with Bono as it's easier to get back for us. He's a good lad.

Also - I just googled this and hilariously, my house is exactly 3.9 miles away from Twickenham. Smug? You betcha.*

    * Before you judge too harshly, at 360 in Sheffield me and my mate were left wandering around that city until 5am in the morning, because we'd lost the address of the mate we were staying with. Having never been to Sheffield before, it turns out 'terraced house on a slope' isn't that specific an instruction to give to a cab driver. We found the house at five am. Don't know how my mate didn't garrot me in the street!

  8.

OK I give up. I'm not being taken to the cleaners for a couple of seats, when all i want is GA.

It's great you sign up to get access but only access to super expensive seats, or take your chances with the public on monday morning, roll the dice and still be £50 out of pocket.

    absolute shambles.

GA might be sold out i am trying to find out if thats the case. Note we are into day 3 of presales now and its first come first served, always has been...

    Hi *****************

We are not aware of more will be released, Please keep trying as it may be a possibility.

    Kind Regards

    Ticketmaster

This was a response I got late last night from Ticketmaster

This was in response to a question I sent yesterday at 10.30am

I should have posted it to save people the time trying for tickets that just were nit there

In fact the tickets have never been there.

As Bigwave stated ''Its first come, first served''

So if you were I the first presale you stood a chance, but those in the Wire sale were very limited as to what was available

I'll say I'm very bitter and aggrieved that you could still buy a subscription right up to the very minute before the sale and could get nothing but Ticketmaster could include a subscription into the cost and you got tickets.

Something is very wrong with how subscribers are treated on here

I can hear those ''if you didn't let your subscription lapse'' comment already but if the shoe was on the other foot you would feel equally angry

I made the don't let it lapse argument on here the other day, and it still stands, but I've never know ticket sales as hard as this morning. Four of my mates tried with me to no avail. In comparison to the Hamilton Sale going well there's no excuse. The long term solution is legislation banning re sale by major ticket sellers such as TM but in the short term a round bollocking of ticketmaster by the band is in order. I got Dublin tickets for 360 on general sale with much less hassle. There is campaigning ongoing on this issue of resales - my advice? Don't get mad, get even.

  9. Don't worry Kelly. Apology not necessary!

I get why people are frustrated - been there with other artists and as I say, the ticketmaster end of this is beyond unacceptable. No reason it should be such a nightmare. I was actually trying to be more positive than nagging - phone reminders regularly save my life, and actually I do think with enough determination, most people will be okay getting U2 tickets. Finding a way to get them is always more useful than being pissed off about it - determination helps more than umbridge in this situation.

Scarlet Mist has got me into gigs I thought impossible many times. It is about not giving up though. Also, personally I've had a great experience with the fan club so think it's only fair both sides are aired.

Dunno if I'm an 'amazing' fan lol! I love hearing about all the tours I missed from those who are a bit older and the Sydney, Red Rocks and Mexico DVDs are some of my most worn discs. Just a different experience I think. It's funny, when you're a teenager into U2 in the 00s era in Preston, you get the piss taken a lot. I got a lot of comments about Bono not giving all his money to Africa. I usually threatened these people with a strongly worded letter via amnesty international, with an envelope sealed by tears shed during 'with or without you' - because that's how a proper U2 fan deals with conflict.

  10. Max basically said all my points for me. If anyone else found what I wrote to be pompous, sorry. It wasn't intended as such, and there's nothing I've written which isn't true.

There's no zero sum game as to why people love the band. We can all rub along together, no? Thanks for having a go at me for the audacious crime of being 17 years old in 2004 though. Appreciate it. What was I supposed to do, grab a TARDIS and write a secret propaganda issue zero in 1976? This is why the 'real fans' monicker is nonsense. There is no them, only us.

Taking Max's advice and staying out of this now. Not being sucked into personal insults. In closing, don't let your membership lapse if you don't want the best access to tickets. You can have some incredible experiences if you contribute to the boards and get the most out of your membership, and I honestly think in most things in life, you get more out of what you put more into.

  11. Ive memorised that I'm due to renew on 24th June and then renew the month before to be safe. I have a reminder on my phone and email, in case life ever 'gets crazy'.

But if you forgot to pay a bill on time, that'd hardly be an excuse - why should they provide you with access if you're not fully subbed up? You'd lose a season ticket or spotify access for the same thing, no matter your length of commitment. Like it or not, length of subscription is fairest way of measuring it.

You can't maintain it matters to you so much and then not renew like the rest of us manage to, on time. They're the rules. You may not like them, but those of us who renew even in the fallow periods do so for exactly this scenario.

Having said that, the wires presale clearly has some issues thanks to ticketmaster that need to be seriously looked at - and I do think moderators are passing this up the chain. But you're right, and it sucks, and I'm sorry.

I do however, wish people would stop bringing seniority and age into it. I think a kid who digs out their parents U2 vinyl is just as entitled to like the band as a fifty year-old, gig-going veteran. Passion isn't defined by how many albums you own or gigs you've seen, and what I like about this band is how inclusive their music and approach to life is - the clue's in the name.

Anyway, more practically, honestly keep trying the app and don't give up the ghost just yet. You were able to get standing GAs for London 6 at 5.45 pm on the IE tour on the day itself! Good luck and hope you get your dream tix one way or another. Fingers crossed.

It ain't over until Bono's crotch is on a camera viewfinder, displayed on a screen.

  12. I'm getting more and more irritated at the 'I've been a fan since XXXX' posts. So what? I was born the year after the Joshua tree and the vertigo tour was my first gig, ever. Is my appreciation for the band somehow less because I missed out on Zoo TV? I'd have killed to have seen it but I enjoy not being 30 yet too so hey ho. Ultimately, staying on top of something you pay for and then renewing the payment or choosing not to isn't rocket science, and speaking as someone who's survived the Glastonbury sale, it is possible to pick things up on general sale. Certainly devising an effective plan for that or reading much of the useful advice on here is much more productive than whining on ad infinitum. Not denying for a second ticketmaster aren't being pretty naff and that it's not frustrating, but to quote Frank Underwood, "you are entitled to nothing."

  13. I've never bought a ticket to an international show - but I'm in a situation where I have a chance to see them at the London show.

I've already noticed that when I looked for the London show through www.ticketmaster.com, it was not there - I had to go to the UK site. My regular ticketmaster.com sign-in wouldn't work there, so I had to create a new profile for the UK site.

So - all that seems to be set up and ready for me to hit the pre-sale (at 4am - ugh, but worth it. :)).

My question is this: Has anyone ever bought tickets to a show through one of ticketmaster's international sites before (in this case, the UK) - are there any other surprises in store for me, or is it pretty straightforward?

I know that during a pre-sale, things get slowed down quite a bit, tickets are flying everywhere, etc. - and I don't want to waste any time and end up missing getting a ticket (shooting for Red Zone, assuming I don't have to get a second mortgage to afford it) if there's something I can do now to make it easier.

I've already got my payment method entered, and the pre-sale code ready to go. Any other tips/advice?

As a Londoner who was lucky enough to spend some time in the beautiful US last year, just a friendly welcome to our great city and let me know if you need any tourist tips and tricks!

  14.

getting the same, the usual farce just to get people to subscribe to U2, why do we put ourselves through this crap every time?

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. One solution: Don't let your membership lapse.

Not really a solution, I have had membership since the Propaganda days and I haven't even had the chance to enter my presale code or to get past the search stage. I'm seriously pissed but not taking it out on our Mods though, they are limited in what they can do and I know they are doing as much as they can to help everyone with problems.

Just to say sorry you're having a hard time too, and hope you get your tickets. Solidarity!

  15. No probs mich - I don't envy you the perennial two days of abuse and frustration you get whenever a pre-sales announced. Most people just really want tickets and haven't calmed down about it! No urgent situation was ever fixed by panic or taking it out on others.

Having said that, I don't know if Ticketmaster have perhaps taken the 'I Still Haven't found what I'm looking for' aspect of this tour a little literally!
