    at rogers in to 35 for ga and 280 for red zone ... not cheap 

     

     

    I doubt the $35 are GA. My guess is $35 for poor seats in the 500s.

  2. Hey!

    Anyone here with Redzone experience? During the 360Tour it looked pretty fancy, not to crowded. But during the last tour it looked a bit like a ripoff, only partially along the stage. I don't like GA, because I don't have time to stand in line all day to catch a good spot.

     

    For I&E I would argue that the RZ was a total rip-off (unless people feel good about an undisclosed portion of the price going to charity.) To be fair, though, I think the production for I&E was so good that you could walk into the venue at 7:00 and get a great spot in GA, better than any RZ spot (I did exactly this for 4 shows.)

     

    Given the stadium setup this time around, I will be giving the RZ serious consideration if it is priced similar to the top-tier seats.

    Red Zone is so cool and comfortable when taking a kid, otherwise GA's are a blast.

    This is my thinking as well, but we're bringing a 7 year old.  Would standing in a crowd (albeit a smaller one) still be a bit much for kids at that age?  How crazy does the Red Zone get? If it costs the same as the best lower bowl seats, we may need to go with that this time around.

     

     

    I would guess that standing at the back of the RZ with a 7 yr old would be fine. If s/he gets tired then it would be easy and safe to sit on the ground. (The back of the RZ looks like it would be pretty darn close.)

    WOW - that is pretty far for that amount of money (great pic, though). I'll keep my fingers crosses for a different stage configuration (see how Depeche Mode's is going to be setup for June),

  5. Last summer I took my (almost 8) son to see Springsteen at San Siro. We stood near the back of the pitch and had a great time. Lots of space around us and a great view of the stage. For a couple reasons I would not recommend taking a child onto the pitch unless you're ok with standing outside of the crushed masses:

    1) It is really packed closer to the stage. Now imagine being crotch or belly height.

    2) Before the annoying practice of people recording entire songs on their cell phones, my major concert annoyance was grown-ups putting their kid on their shoulders so they can see. If your kid isn't tall enough to see the stage from the pitch, then buy a seat!

    I'm sure you kid will love it if he/she is physically comfortable.

    Can everyone be on the GA Floor?

    • In Brussels, Belgium, the ticketmaster website is listing a limitation on the age of people on the floor. Under 12’s are recommended to buy a seat. Young children are NOT allowed on the standing floor, which also includes the (RED) Zone Package. 
      Under 16’s who prefer the standing floor, including the (RED) Zone Package, MUST be accompanied by an adult in possession of a valid ticket in the same price level. (They do not define “young”)
    • In London the GA floor is limited to persons over the age of 14.
    • In Dublin they list “No under 16’s will be allowed on the pitch unless accompanied by an adult. Standing tickets only available to persons aged 14 and over.”

    Where exactly in Europe? I am going to Berlin with 2 kids - am I suppose to be worry that there is restriction for children regarding GA tickets?

     

     

     

    My advice would be to read the ticketing page very carefully.

     

    Perhaps the Mods could look into this? The language I've seen on a few TM sites for the venues is not clear.

    I'm in the Wires presale group and will be buying RED tickets if we can get them on Thursday morning for the Rose Bowl. It's money to a good cause, we don't have to wait in a crazy GA line, we'll be tucked right up in a dream spot between both parts of the stage, and since we're in our 30s and not into being pushed/shoved, we don't have to contend with 10,000 of our closest friends trying to jockey for position. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned, especially since this is a Holy Grail show for me-- I've often said to friends that my ultimate concert if I could time travel would be U2 on the Joshua Tree tour!

    Completely agree and hope to do the same for Philly especially as we plan to bring our kids. Once in a lifetime event. Just hoping there are some left by Thursday.

  9. cant play where the Streets, still haven't found, with or without you, bullet the blue sky early in a concert set. playing backwards makes the most sense.

     

    You seem to be assuming that the JT album will be played at the front end of the show - that doesn't need to be the case. They could easily play for 30 minutes, introduce then play the JT, then play for another 30 - 45 minutes.

     

    And starting with a heavy song like MOTD - in a stadium - would be odd indeed.

  10. The Red Zone sections of I&E in Montreal and Toronto were terrible value in comparison with regular GA, IMO. I had GA for all of those show are really felt the people who paid for RedZone were hosed big time.

     

    In contrast, the GA layouts published so far for this tour look to be the only way to get nice and close without spending the entire day in queue. 

  11. I was GA in Toronto and Montreal and I have to say that I was pretty happy that the floor was NOT packed in Toronto. Like jeffwalsh speculates, I also chalk this up to different fire code regulations and the staging.

    I loathe ticketless booking, it's my new pet hate, I have all my U2 tickets in a big framed picture and want to continue to add to them but when I go on this tour I'll get nothing, no memento!, I contacted ticketmaster initially and discussed it with them, tried to change to a ticket option but no chance, it really is a tight operation and I guess you can understand why when people are scalping fans mercilessly, I just hope that when we do turn up to the show we get something other than a wee ink stamp on the hand!!

    They hand out some printed 'tickets' at CC scan. Not the standard Ticketmaster format but I suppose still frame-able......

     

     

    Not in Montreal. After the CC swipe they put the wristband on, that's it.

  13. This is a great head's-up. If you're coming in from the 401 you would do well to park at Yorkdale and take the TTC downtown to the ACC.

     

    Parking downtown has already increased by a significant amount in some lots so that's another good reason to avoid driving downtown.

Pure speculation, since I haven't been to the tour yet, but wouldn't the other side of the RZ fence in the middle of the arena put you between both stages, and perfectly lined up with the screens?! Closer to the stage might be more of a problem, unless you have a fancy chair where you can raise yourself up. I queued up at a concert behind someone in a wheelchair once thinking, this will be great, perfect view, and then five minutes to show time, she cranked that seat up and completely blocked my view ;-)

     

    Exactly what I'm talking about (and I stood there for night 1 in Montreal and thought it great).

  16. Hmmm...my suggestion would be to stay away from being too close to either of the stages are people are packed much more tightly than in the middle area. Also, people are tight against the rail the entire way so that might not be the best spot for you.

     

    I stood right in-between the two stages, between the rail and the boards. From there I had a fantastic view of the screen and of the band members when they were on the stage (either one). I did notice a person in a wheelchair in approximately the same location, but a little closer to the boards.

Audience performance is another matter...I was in the moment when a lil weasel of a fan shoved there way in front of me...started high fiving his buds about how close they were..then took out his phablet and stuck it in my face taking a gazillion pictures so he could post to all his friends how cool he was..totally took me out of the song and gave me feelings of anger at this lil runt.. I finally took out my phone and stuck it in his face..he got the message..as Bono says...people be in the moment...stop taking pictures of the moment..for the love of God..they will release the concert on dvd with much better images than you can ever get..

     

    Agreed, 100%. And I have to say, I don't think it's helpful encouraging people to be video-ing and periscoping for entire songs/concerts (as U2.com and atu2.com are doing). It really does make it pretty sh**ty for the people who are behind the knob holding up their giant smart phone. On the same level of annoyance as grown-ups perched on their friend's shoulders so they can get a better look from the floor.
