  1. The answer is simple--for serious fans, GA gets you at least as good a view as the best seats, and is way cheaper.

I certainly wouldn't agree with the "at least as good a view", but it is way cheaper. My first choice is always GA.

  2. Not sure how much pull the Mods have with U2 Production, but I agree. I bought tickets for a fair amount of money for a family member and I sure hope they're not behind the stage.

(and I'm not sure Amsterdam is the best venue chart to use as an example as it doesn't have 360 seating (as all arenas and many of European venues do).

  3. I don't get how people are selling GAs? they are paperless tickets. CC buyer must enter. I wonder how it was dealt with on people who actually waited in line at an outlet and bought GAs there with cash, would they be given a ticket there?

I read in a number of places that resellers buy the tickets with a prepaid credit card then send that card to the buyer.

Would a mod be able to connect with TM and get some word on whether or not paperless tickets can be purchased with prepaid credit cards?

  4. If the concert is going to be two different shows in each city, it would be really cool if they recorded both nights and made a two disc set!

I'd also love -- sorry for going slightly off-topic -- to see U23D get a Blu-ray 3D release.  I've got a 3DTV and would love to relive that over and over (and over and over) again!

    Both nights - great suggestion.

Maybe a single DVD for the fans who don't want to dish out too much cash for a deluxe two-night set.

Or a bonus DVD of just those songs performed on only one of the nights (though I'd much prefer two complete shows.)

  5. Paperless GA entry has been used for years now. Some shows even extend it to the better lower bowl seats (I had paperless for Springsteen at HSBC in Buffalo.)

I'd sign your petition, but I really don't see it happening because eTransfer would not help eliminate scalping (which is, I believe, the only rationale for paperless entry.)

  6. Long time member here, but this is my first time posting.  (edit: I thought this was my first post, but the box to the side says it's my 16th post… so… first post in forever?)

I love the idea of a dream subscribers gig.  For my, my dream show would probably be more about having a more obscure song choice than having a smaller venue.  ...

I think I understand what you're saying, but I still think venue would be key. Hearing Promenade at Croke or the SkyDome wouldn't be the same as hearing it at the Olympia or Massey Hall.

And while there may be 3xx, xxx+ subscribers to U2.com, it's tough for me to believe that that many are paid members.

And as much as I would LOVE to give priority access to this hypothetical show to long-time members (I'm a Propaganda member from '97.) this would be a shit-show for U2 inc.

(...but I wouldn't object to it!)

  7. I actually think they'll wait and hit Hamilton and Ottawa on the 2nd leg....which I'd be okay with. If I can snag tix for Ottawa, it's also an excuse to visit our son at university! And I remember the Copps show on the 2nd leg of Elevation....boy do I remember that show like it was yesterday. I had a fractured tailbone but still went! Had a blast! Cried when I realized how good our seats really were (mind you, this was the last time we had seats...... I have been GA ever since!)

Well, if there is a second North American leg all signs point to it being a stadium tour effectively leaving Ottawa and Hamilton out, IMO.

For Leg 1, I definitely don't see Ottawa being used to fill in dates between Chicago and Toronto. Between Toronto (2) and Montreal (4) the Ottawa fan base if covered.

I think it's really a non-starter, though, as I think it unlikely that new cities will be added to North America for Leg 1.

I do think Hamilton would be a smart addition as it would service the up-state New York crowd and that part of Ontario.

  8.

Seriously? They have added shows due to demand in EVERY sold out city except Toronto and Turin......what's with that? Although I see there may still be some wiggle room on the front side of the current TO dates......

.... maybe they're just trying to share the wealth this time around.  ....

I don't think Live Nation is concerned at all about "sharing the wealth".

I would guess that either the show will be announced soon or, as you suggested, the ACC isn't available. The is certainly time on their touring calendar for another pair of Toronto shows inbetween the last (announced) Chicago show and the first (announced) Toronto show.

  9. ...  One thing that almost clinches it is that seats behind the main stage (i.e., at the other end from the RZ) at various venues have "limited view", etc. warnings attached to them.  ...

Well, I really hope that is not the case because that warning wasn't in place for all sales. According to yours description (and others) Sec 120 for Vancouver looks like it could be behind the stage and there is no limited view notice for that section.

It really shouldn't requiring sleuthing to figure out if tickets are 100% view or not.

  10. I'd be down for a couple more Toronto shows, but only if I could get GAs.

Booking a couple in Hamilton (rather than, not in addition to, Toronto) would be good too as it would service the Buffalo area.

I'm sure they budgeted the tour based on adding shows inbetween the original announced dates. I can't imagine it makes financial sense to have all of those people (ie crew) sitting around doing nothing for the week+ inbetween some of those cities.

  11.

It would suck if there aren't more shows added.  Yeah, OK, they're older, but even w/new shows added the total leg wouldn't be that large.  Aargh.  I still think that there will be some new shows; we'll see.

I get a kick out of the whole "they're older' thing.  These guys live a lap of luxury unmatched by nearly every human on the globe.  Its not like they're sleeping on a bus, hittin the clubs and ampi-theatres 200+ nights a year.....Hell, we're all gettin older!! Lol

No kidding! Some posts would have us believe that they were living the hard life.

  12. I just finished reading the thread about $300+ tickets and it seems that there are loads of tickets available at the price point. I wonder if they have held off announcing new shows until they get most of the announced shows sold out.

...will be interesting, though. I figure most of the people who would pay $300 for a single ticket would buy on day 1 so I wonder how that factors into announcing additional dates.
