Montreal
Got into the waiting room well before 10:00
Filled in my info
Got 4 GA for Sat night within 3 minutes after the onsale.
Hey Ticketmaster - time to go to school and figure out how this sort of thing can be done without people losing their shit.
Can.Not.ai.
Thats awesome. I gotta ask, What city? Because I had like 4 devices logged in @ 3 seconds after 10 for Boston and NYC and Nuttin...
Montreal, Saturday night's show.

Any person who is willing to pay that is a fool indeed.

No opening act required. Period.
Agreed. NO opening act would be the best way to go.
I think all of us would love to see a U2 show along the likes of Springsteen's. Given how tightly choreographed U2's shows are compared to Springsteen I really can't see this happening. Perhaps more importantly, I just don't think Bono's voice could handle that sort of demand.

New-ish band for night 1
Experienced band for night 2 (....I'm with the earlier suggestion of James.)
Arcade Fire seems seriously unlikely given they played to sold out arenas across North American this year as headliners.
-
I hope National or Naked and Famous. Matt Beringer would go into the audience if it's the National and make spectators sing along to 'Mr November'. Naked and Famous will just sound brilliant on their whole set.
I'm open to other bands too though.
The National played the last show of their tour last week, so they're unlikely.
Given that Edge is a Royal Blood fan I wouldn't be surprised if they popped up. Perhaps The Joy Formidable, HAIM, Band of Skulls...there's a whole list of really good young bands out there right now, U2 should be looking at it.
Royal Blood is opening up for the Foo Fighters (a much better fit, IMO).
The Joy Formidable would be awesome: Ritzy is a fireball on stage and I think their songs would really come across well in a larger setting.

It seems like a really easy thing to check, and really not worth the risk unless one doesn't really care if they see a show or not.

Here in Toronto the GAs and reserved seating are paperless. Need the credit card used to purchase them and photo ID to get in. TM had something about it on their site. There was no option to have actual tickets mailed or picked up.
For Toronto I selected pickup at a retail outlet (for tickets in the 100s).

Anywhere in Italy.
I was at Montreal 2 last tour and it was great.
I was at MSG for the first leg of Vertigo and it was OK.
If you sticking to N. America, I'd go for Montreal or Boston.
-
I'm wondering if this is a better option for the Innocence presale.
Thanks.

Toronto will get more than two shows. bank on it.
Yep - i think a couple of those dates before July 6/7 will be Toronto dates.
-
I wouldn't trade seeing them in an arena, but I have to say that the stadium shows on the Vertigo Tour were amazing (ie. better than the arena shows).

The Metallica show I saw at the ACC had the entire, large stage in the center of the floor with the drum kit in the middle (https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2546/4049473515_9eb27a7490_b.jpg). The other band members moved around the stage sticking mostly to the corners. And the sound was the worst I had ever experienced at the ACC.
The stage plan on TM for this U2 tour doesn't really look anything like that.
-
Stage details would have been the most useful. I agree, when one is spending close to $300 on a concert ticket it shouldn't be a mystery where the band is setting up.

Ask the question after the public on-sale when the shows sell out in minutes!
Point-taken, though. They certainly won't be pulling in too many 17 year olds at those prices.
-
Where does U2.com say this?
And what about West Coast venues?
Thx.
-
barry - what time PST did tickets go on sale? A friend of mine is part of tomorrow's presale.
-
Is it just me, or would it have made more sense to have these presale start times spread out through the day? Like a different pre-sale starting up every 1.5 or 2 hours just to spread out the numbers of people trying to use the system?
This is a great idea. It begs the question why the ticketing experts didn't think of this themselves!
-
It's more the fact the two nights are ment to be very different, I would have loved too get 2 for each night for me and the wife but will have to settle for one show.
^ agreed - this is my issue with it as well.
I would have been 100% happy with 2 tickets for 2 shows.
(...though I'm still pretty happy!)

For a few minutes TM had the "Use the Map" option available for the Toronto shows. I can say that there were still loads of tickets available in the $298 range - really, really good ones. I didn't have a chance to check out the 300 level for price or availability.
-
the problem seems to be with US Ticketmaster, be assured they know about it.
...and Canada.
-
For a few minutes I was able to have a look at the "Use the Map" option on TM for the ACC. It was pretty interesting to see how they have setup the pricing and which seats were available for the presale.
After a couple minutes of looking a pop-up window appeared from TM stating that they were turning off the option.
FYI, the VIP Party package was a couple row behind what was available for $298 yet over twice the price (sure hope U2 is serving the drinks for that kind of cash!)

Are there GA floor tickets for the Toronto shows? The floor layout looks like there are, but the ticket prices shown only list reserved floor seats . . . . I am in tomorrows presale event/debacle and I just want to know what the options might be.
Thanks!
Really poor descriptions for seating areas. For my GA I think I picked the cheapest ticket and selected reserved floor.
Kinda shocking how bad this is considering the debacle of the indoor Vertigo leg and how often TM has presales.

got a pair of GA - phew.
Are monday sales will be for all?

If you don't mind sitting by yourself there are still decent ones for Friday in the Club B level.
