  1. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who would like to see them play Ultra Violet. I've never been lucky enough to attend a show where they played it.
  2. Personally, I love it when they add the "snippets" of other songs (but that's just me). Also, love it when Bono talks about... well, pretty much anything! Whenever I watch U2 videos on Youtube, and someone has cut out the part where Bono is talking between the songs, it makes me sad.
  3. I definitely agree that they put on a show with a theme. This is something that I enjoy very much. Still I think there are opportunities to mix it up a bit. For example, instead of Every Breaking Wave, maybe substitute Sleep Like a Baby or The Troubles. That would be cool. (Nothing against Every Breaking Wave, though! I do like it.) However, certain songs HAVE to stay in the show -- like Sunday Bloody Sunday + Raised By Wolves -- or they'd lose the whole theme. Also, on the subject of people measuring whether a person is a "true" fan by the number of shows a person has been to... That's just not right. I've been a fan for 32+ years. I've been to 12 shows. I have a HUGE collection of books, CDs, magazines, tour programs, vinyl, etc. I am a TRUE FAN. However, I don't have the type of job where I can get unlimited time off, or the $$$ to go to all the shows I'd like to go to. Tickets to the show itself, airfare, hotels, or even just the price of gas to drive... that adds up - fast. Don't feel like less of a fan if you haven't been able to go to many (or even any) shows. I was a HUGE U2 fan at age 19 even though I never got to see a show until I was 27.
  4. Go, James! What a great kid; you're justified in being proud! It would be very cool if the band could see the video too.
  5. These are my thoughts about Red Zone experience at Phoenix night 2 in regards to the Ticketmaster advertising: Barricaded area adjacent to the Stage The area indicated on the Ticketmaster map was NOT the area where the Red Zone was located in Phoenix. Extremely limited capacity This was true, there was much more space in the RZ are in comparison to GA. VIP Entrance to the venue This was sort of true. We had a separate line and were allowed to enter before others. We were not treated like "VIPs" LOL. An opportunity to be selected for a pre-show backstage tour You HAVE to be standing in the RZ area when they do the drawing or you won't know who has been selected. Access to the (RED) Zone refreshment stand We had to use the same refreshment stands and restrooms that everyone else in the venue used. Please note: The (RED) Zone gives you access to an exclusive VIP area directly adjacent to the Stage with special amenities and dedicated staff, all while raising money in support of (RED) and the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. A portion of the proceeds from your purchase supports the (RED) campaign. Only a few feet of the RZ are adjacent to the stage. There were no special amenities. I can only hope that some of my ticket price went towards support of RED. To sum it up: in the future, I will buy GA tickets and donate directly to RED. That said, I did enjoy the show very much. However, I detest Ticketmaster.
  6. Hope you have a great time Skyeflyr. Oh how I wish Denver were just a little closer to Dallas!
  7. abpop - were you able to work out a solution? I don't think this whole idea of tying tickets to a credit card is ideal. AT ALL. Just my 2 cents worth... I was holding on to my credit card like a precious treasure until I got to the Phoenix shows.
  8. For Red Zone in Phoenix (night 2), they gave us raffle tickets. They did say we needed to be there by 6:30 to be eligible for the "drawing" (but I think we got there around 4:30 LOL!) However, I don't know when or where they announce the winner because we stood in the regular GA section.
  9. At the 2nd show in Phoenix, 23-May, we had Red Zone tickets. They did let us in before GA. We quickly looked at the Red Zone area - we had North Side. It did NOT appear that there were either a private bar or restrooms for the Red Zone. They told us we'd have to go back out to the regular restrooms and concession stands. We ended up going into the regular GA area because they said we could do that. They also let us go back to the Red Zone if we wanted to. Because we were standing in the GA area when they did the drawing for backstage passes, we missed out on that. So just be aware if you really want a chance for the backstage pass, you will probably have to be in the Red Zone when the drawing occurs.
  10. If your friend can't make it, let me know. I'll gladly take his/her place!
  11. A few years ago, they did a small show at one of the local clubs in Boston. I lived there at the time and tried soooo hard to win tickets, but no luck. It would be great if they did another show like that -- similar to what they did at the Roxy -- but I doubt it.
  12. UPDATE: I'm not going to be in town for the Boston shows. No longer looking for tickets.
  13. I don't know if a 2nd leg of the IE tour will happen (has it been confirmed?), but it would be really great if there could be shows in TEXAS - where I currently reside (Dallas), or FLORIDA - where I love to visit! Okay, thanks!
  14. Do you think there's any chance they'd do a smaller local show in Chicago like the one they did at The Roxy?
  15. Does anyone find it odd that there are no shows on Friday or Saturday night? I wonder...?
  16. You nailed it, the 2016 renewal should be a CD of the Roxy show, that would be pretty cool. Exactly! Please!
  17. You know what would be a really great gift for subscribers of U2.com???
  18. Something has been bugging me since I went to see the two U2 shows in Phoenix, and I can't quite put it into words yet, but I'm going to try... Each day, before the sound check, I waited outside the venue in hopes of getting autographs. I arrived around noon each day. I waited with a crowd of other people, and it was hot, I was thirsty, and I needed to use the bathroom, but I didn't dare give up my space. Most of the other fans around me were very nice, but some people were rather pushy and rude. On day one, I saw Bono and Adam, but couldn't get close enough for an autograph. I did, however, see the two of them very close. Close enough to see their eyes, their skin, their hair. I heard them speak. It was amazing to be so close to two famous people I admire so much. It was surreal. Day two, The Edge came out and this time I managed to get an autograph from him. When The Edge first came out to greet the fans, he was smiling, but after 15 minutes or so, he didn't seem very happy. He was polite, but it seemed forced. This made me start thinking about the fact that these four amazing people that make up U2 are, in fact, people. I started thinking about what their daily lives might be like. I tried to really imagine what they go through... For example, I traveled to Phoenix to see them and the time zone change really has messed me up. Two days later, I still feel "strange." Imagine changing time zones, day after day, for months! Yes, they are famous; yes, they make tons of money. You can argue that point all you want, but they are still human beings. This experience (seeing them up close) has made me think about all they've had to sacrifice to bring their fans the wonderful gift of their music. Their songs have touched my life deeply. I've actually made some major changes in my life at various times because their song lyrics really made me stop and THINK. Now I'm thinking about what they've given up to give their music to their fans. Things that the rest of us take for granted: birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and even mundane things - like the freedom to go wherever we want whenever we want. If I want a pizza, I go out for pizza. They can't even do that without being mobbed. You might argue that they could pay someone to bring them pizza, or maybe they love the attention, or maybe that's the price they pay for fame, or maybe you think the huge amount of $$$ they earn is worth what they've had to give up... But I, personally, think it would suck. When I saw The Edge that second day, I sensed frustration and maybe even a bit of sadness from him. If ever I have the privilege of meeting anyone in the band again, I don't think I will shove anything in their faces for an autograph. I'll just observe and try to express my gratitude for all they've given us (and all they've given up for us). I hope this makes sense! (And yes, I have been told on many occasions that I think too much!)
  19. In Phoenix, day 1 - Bono and Adam came out around 3 ish. Day 2 - Edge came out around 2:30 (someone correct me if I'm mistaken).
