  1. right now the arena is free Nov 21-30, 10 days worth.........guess we'll find out at some point if U2 will take those days.

People keep mentioning in various threads the number of days the band might play vs. the number of days the arena(s) are currently available in a row, but the thing to keep in mind (at least based on the US tour), they play two days on, two days off. Not every night... May have to break it down, let someone else play, then set it up again, etc.

  2. How does one survive GA?

I usually show up to the venue at least 30 minutes before I know the band tends to start, enter the venue, use the restroom, pick a spot, and watch them play. It's really easy.

Now, if you want to queue all day and stand 10 feet in front of me, well, that's a whole separate concern... ;-)

    • Haha 1
  3. Fair enough about the hacking scenario but if U2.COM decided to take the money out of my wallet for safe keeping in case I got mugged I'd expect them to tell me that too !!

To be clear, I made up a hacking thing as an example. There is no truth to that as far as I know. Don't want to add more fuel to the fire here, heh.

Chad, I've always wondered whether you and Jeff are one and the same person!! :)

When I read Chadd's stuff, I do tend to say... well, there's someone I agree with. ;-)

  4. Jeff I've seen many of your posts on here and they all follow a similar pattern of trying to argue down those who dare to have an issue with the band / management.

I don't see it as defending the band or management, as from the stage setup to many issues, it does seem they could have been more forthcoming. I just think (and this goes beyond U2 to pretty much everything) that in the face of no information, why choose the worst case scenario as the most likely option? It is just as likely that there will be no issue.

  5. I have 2 GA for the 26th (Sun.) and wouldn't mind trading (and paying diff.) for decent reserved seating (BF - a U2 show virgin - is not as dedicated as me!) I would also like to purchase 1 GA for the 23rd (Thurs.). Will be traveling from Texas.

I have a front row, aisle seat in section 114, so as close as you can get to the floor with a seat. But I would trade you for a GA if you paid the ticket difference. That seat was $312.40. LMK.

  6. Yeah but we shouldn't have to speculate

You don't have to now, though. At present, there are no presales and no codes. And you were told there would be Dublin dates and your code would still work. So, until there is a Dublin announcement and your code still isn't there, you have invented a scenario where there would be an issue based on fiction.

What if there was concern of people hacking accounts to try and get codes, and to stop it, they removed the codes for now and are going to reissue new codes to those that haven't used them yet and as a precautionary measure, aren't posting them until closer to the date to protect you? That is just as likely, if we're making things up, no?

So, if I can invent a way they are advocating on your behalf, and you can invent a way that you are being potentially ripped off and cheated, it is safe to say both are equally valid in the light of no evidence.

But in both cases, neither of our scenarios has any insight to there being any change of plans for people with unused codes being able to buy Dublin tickets. Just how we choose to interpret the information we know.

  7. I don't believe they appeared on the televised show, but that they taped their segment(s?) yesterday that will air Friday with the subway and bike bits? There is no taping scheduled for Friday, so has to happen before then. hey only had 4 tapings this week and five shows, so unless they had a complete show in the bank, they just add guests at the end of other shows, I guess?!

  8. I have no problem with the area being filled to the max with other GA'ers

Sort of defeats the point of RZ, which is that we don't have to queue or get there early, though... if I show up 30 minutes to showtime, I'm fine being behind other RZ people who made the effort, but not that they filled it in for no reason... Of course, I doubt they would consider this anyway. ;-)

  9. You can never predict these things, since it is a supply and demand issue. I buy/sell tickets on there all the time, and there is never a right answer. Sometimes there are too many tickets and the day of the show becomes a massive fire sale, and then other times, leading up to the show, inventory begins to disappear and prices start to rise. All I would advise, from personal experience, is that once you commit and buy tickets, stop looking. Don't see if more tickets are released at cost. Don't see if you got a good deal by going back and watching how things turn out, etc. At the end of the day, at a moment in time, you decided seeing U2 was worth a specific dollar amount, you paid it, and you're going... let the rest go and enjoy yourself.

  10. Of course, if you wait until there is an announcement, you may only get in the second presale for people who joined after the tour announcement. If they do it the same as this leg...

  11. As ddarroch mentioned MSG the complete opposite side of the RZ is labeled on the tickets as rear stage which seems really odd this the majority of the stage/catwalk seems to be going in that direction. It's very unclear as to how this will be laid out but based on that it does seem like the band will be on the completely opposite end of the stage as the RZ. I would have thought right in the middle based on this configuration but who knows til we see it

Larry is supposedly in the middle, based on the stage design that appeared and vanished from the site briefly... maybe he doesn't spin after all? So, maybe it's just a Larry's Rear ticket?! ;-)

  12. My experience (having done GA w/dozens of U2 shows) is that you basically WILL have a very good view, as long as ... You don't end up stuck directly behind somebody really tall

I never get when people say they got stuck behind someone tall at a GA show. Umm, move? I've had people come later than I arrived, stand behind me, and then say they can't see... which begs the question, why did you stop behind me then? You picked that spot.

  13. I must say though this topic, and other threads like it, does beg the question why the arrangements for this tour have not been better communicated.

It's not that confusing, since it only affects two(?) standalone dates on the whole tour in cities with multiple shows already. If they started doing single nights in random cities, that might confuse people. But people very interested in catching both nights in NYC already have three paired shows, and now this one standalone. So, if you mix and match and night 1s with any night 2s from the first three, safe to say you'll get both shows. And the show on the 30th is rumored to be potentially paired with an as yet announced show on the 31st, which would sync it up with the others anyway.

Some bands, like Pearl Jam, just make up a setlist every night, and if you like a handful of songs, they might do all of those on night 1, and then all deep cuts and non-singles on night 2, and then you get people who wish they were at the opposite show or some such. So, dividing them up into a two-show thing is already more of a sense of clarity than you get from a lot of bands.

  14.  In any case, they'd be at the back, get to the front & it's certainly energetic!

I'll be toward the back with them. On Elevation tour, I realized that up close we were all jockeying to get near Bono as he moved around and such, and there was pushing, and frenzy... and if you literally stood 7 feet further back, it was completely chill and you could just enjoy the show so much easier. If the band feeds off of that frenzy up front, and that makes them do a better show, then us people a few feet back thank you all... ;-)

  15. I am in the same boat.  I am now going to be traveling for work on the June 25th date in Chicago.  I called Ticketmaster they said nothing they can do and to call United Center Box Office.  I did that and the lady literally said "tough luck."  It's not even the cost of the tickets I'm upset about it.  It's just pathetic that I can't transfer them to my Dad or Brother or someone else.  Basically they are just going in the trash.  I PM'd bigwave in hopes maybe he could help resolve the issue.  This is just unfortunate.

I've never had Ticketmaster tickets that haven't had a transfer button when you go to Order details... but if they are credit card entry, just give them your credit card. I know people keep saying you need an ID, etc., but I've never had that happen any time I've been to CCE shows. They just swipe the card, print the ticket, and let you in... unless anyone has had a different experience?! Just because Ticketmaster says to bring ID and that those are the policy doesn't mean anyone actually follows it. Tens of thousands of people all trying to enter a venue, they don't have time to be checking everyone's driver's license.
