  1. It is the promoter and not the band's fault. Live Nation knows very well that overhang exists. I go to Soldier Field all the time and the same issue comes up with every show. It is not U2. It is not the venue. It is the promoter. I despise Ticketmaster and Live Nation and both are well aware of it. Write letters and bitch. Last one I wrote I told them they were complete and total idiots. That is no lie. If we do not call them out on this crap it is going to get worse while ticket prices double to $600.
  2. The last night is always the best night to see U2 in Chicago. For 360 we got One Tree Hill for the first time in how many years? For the IE tour we got Bad and the full version of 40-I was literally in tears thanking God. So the second night is definitely the best one. I'm hoping to get one GA ticket at the last minute and go. We are going on the first night. Had I known...it would be the second night. I am one of those who is not psyched to see The Joshua Tree live. I want new music or songs they rarely play but that is just me. I've been hearing Bullet and WOWY and the other stuff for thirty years. I want new music. This is just my humble opinion. I did think Bullet the Blue Sky worked quite well in the IE tour. I went to IE four or the five shows in Chicago. They put me in the expensive seats and we were behind the stage as well, but those $95 were still fairly decent seats. I went back to them just to watch Larry drum from behind. I love watching him play the drums. The United Center is an amazing venue. So is Soldier Field until the traffic jam after the show. haha I hope you have fun!
  3. The overhang starts maybe somewhere above you but probably behind and I seriously doubt your view/sound will be affected. You also will be looking down so everything is better than the 100 level under the overhang.
  4. They did the same thing for me at IE for multiple shows. I did not ask until right before the show. See what I mean? They are almost always wiling to help and will do their best. I love the United Center. It's a great venue.
  5. I would have taken those and gotten a relocate, to be honest. I really do not think it's going to be a huge problem. I was trying to figure it out and there's only about 300 people that need to be relocated. They kept a lot of seats for 360. I saw stacks of them. They know it's gonna be an issue. I'm still trying to find out more about this for TJT, but I saw Coldplay last Summer and that would have been an issue then too. The same for other shows. They are ready for it. The lady in the article above probably got front row that far into the show because it was 5 or 6 numbers into the show. He was probably pretty much done relocating. I think he was and just handed them to her. She did not mention having to go back and get her husband and his ticket. I had to do that when I was relocated, but it was always early. I don' think that this is gonna be a huge issue for anyone who takes the trouble to get there when the gates open or relatively early. They were in a huge lounge relocating when I did it. They let me sit in there when the heat got to me for July shows. 104 and 105 are great locations. If your view is impeded they have to accommodate you and I've always seen them do it. That being said, there are no guarantees. I've learned not to jump for shows and get freaked out because seats always get released or sold if one watches for them. It's a crap shoot nonetheless. If you are in ADA seating-definitely get there early and get the relocate. You will not see or hear shit in those seats in the affected sections. Actually, you will hear shit so get there early!
  6. This is the exact situation I am in. I couldn't get Red Zone during presale, so I got best available. During the public sale, I got the Red Zone tickets. Now I need to unload 4 tickets I purchased during the presale. I have called TM, emailed TM, emailed u2.com - so far no luck. I am not trying to scalp these tickets - I just want to be able to let other U2 fans have the opportunity to purchase these tickets at the price I paid for them. The TM person I spoke to suggested that I sell my tickets to someone (outside of the TM website) and have them meet me at the concert... easier said than done. Yeah, that's a safe thing to do. Meet a stranger at a corner with a thousand dollars in tickets! I hope you don't mind but I'm laughing at the absolute stupidity of that suggestion. If TM does not get back to you then I suggest bitching. That's whey they reply the quickest to me. It's true and now I'm laughing at myself. Is that okay? Perhaps after the second show sells they will change that. I say meet them on a corner in the darkest recesses possible, have it be a friend, get robbed and sue Ticketmaster!!! ( I am joking ) JOKE Ludicrous is my favorite word to use with TM. Who is it, though? Most of the people I speak with are very nice and helpful. Then one gets connected with a supervisor only to hear they are not available. OR I get the dreaded dial tone. I hope it changes after all the shows go on sale is what I was going to say. Excuse me.
  7. I wonder if that will change after the second show's presales and general public sales are all done and some time has passed? It doesn't make sense otherwise. I can understand your frustration. I can only imagine how many others will have done the same or will want to sell their tickets no matter. There seems to be a lot of confusion around these shows. Have you tried calling TM's customer service? They probably won't know right now either but they might. I'm hoping to buy one ticket for the second show in Chicago but cannot for a while.
  8. For past tours there has always been a thread where people within U2.com sell, trade and buy tickets for the shows at face value so they don't go to the bleeping scalpers. With paperless, I don't see how you are going to be able to do that. Such is the purpose of paperless...to stop scalping. It's a good part of why concerts and the like are so expensive from the start.
  9. Thank You! Unless we write and complain we cannot expect anything to change and all we are doing is bitching uselessly. It truly does help to write. I've written so many letters to TM and other big corporations. It took a while but now they respond. If multitudes write about the same thing, our issue becomes larger. Everyone knows this, but so few actually take the time to do so because, "What difference does it make?". It works. My head is really fogged but didn't Larry write an open letter to the fans after there were problems with the Vertigo presale? If memory serves me correctly, didn't we get a code or something for two more seats? (Don't quote me on this, please.) I do remember Larry writing an open letter, however; and it was very sincere. The problem is everything is owned by everything and everyone is following protocol by someone over them who is also doing the same thing. I'm not saying anything people don't know but we do have the power to stop it.
  10. You're int he same boat as me. I'm absolutely LIVID that I paid over $300 for the worst seat in the stadium, especially when they have better seats available today, for less $$.... Ticketmaster refuses to do anything about this. My code is used up, so if I want that seat, I'll have to buy another $50 membership.... IT IS A TRAVESTY!!!! Almost like the VIP Gold package I purchased in Germany and ended up at the very top of the venue all the way at the end, looking straight down (when I wasn't having Vertigo)... THIS SCAM HAS GOT TO STOP! Unless I am misunderstanding...do NOT buy another membership. It will not work and you will get all your tickets negated. You can only have one membership. You cannot purchase another to get a code to buy more tickets. That is a huge no-no. Have you tried calling the venue? My gosh, I badly feel for everyone going through all of this. Remember it is not the band nor the venue...it is the promoter. (Unless I'm horribly misinformed.) Have you tried calling the venue or tried calling TM and asking for a supervisor?
  11. Call and explain. If that does not work call again. If that does not work call and if they don't help you scream (I'm speaking figuratively) for a supervisor. Are you calling the TM customer service number or the TM sales number? They are different. I ask as I've encountered quite a few people who do not know. They have to help you if it is as you said. I've no reason to doubt you. Call and demand and stand firm. You may be on the phone for over an hour so be patient. Make sure that every agent with whom you speak has your phone number to call you back in case you get disconnected. (infuriating) I would demand a supervisor immediately. You can try emailing them. I've had better luck at times after emailing them and calling them blundering buffoons, completely incompetent and many other things. That is after hours on the phone only to get a dial tone. There's no way they can do that to you. They have to accommodate you. I would tell them, very nicely, that I want a 100 level seat which is rows 1-9 on Adam's side of the stage (103, 104, 105, etc.) or on the Edge's side where the overhang is not an issue. (From what I can recall.) The customer service number is: 1-800-653-8000. Let me know how it ends up for you, please. I don't work for TM or SF or U2.com ( I wish for the latter) but I've learned how to get this stuff done and gotten some very helpful contacts along the way after they realized I was sincere or trying to help someone else. My answers/posts are very long winded these days. I'm recovering and waiting to have surgery on 01/31 on my head so everything is as though I smoked too much of something funky and the fog in my brain is quite dense! ba dumb bum ( get it, dense?) corn. Anyhow, pardon it taking so many words to respond. Most individual TM agents are quite nice and will go out of their way to help a person but they have protocol. If one does not work...hang up, call again and try another. Getting it to a supervisor is the key. Also the keyword is that you need a relocate and here I go writing more. sorry. My beloved Irish Terrier, named Bruff, is licking my ear off trying to get me back on the couch! Good luck.
  12. Did anyone find out why there were no tickets when the presale started? GAs came 2 hours into the presale in Chicago or something of the sort. Any news on this or more TM crap? I was wondering too as I want to go to both nights in Chicago should something good get released and appear the day of the second show. Thanks for the info.
  13. I agree with ya yet again. Great points. I have talked with a number of fans in .Ilwaukee and they think the stage is going to be the IE stage. I said no and they mentioned the Paris show on HBO. Several of them now. Interesting.
  14. Thanks. One person at least. Loved them. Her solo albums have some great stuff too. Springsteen used a few of them when he toured behind Lucky Town/Human Touch.
  15. If we are going back to 1987...why not have Lone Justice open the tour with Shelter? Do the whole album? It's one of my all time favorites and Maria McKee's name is on the current back issue of Propoganda which is being featured. Am I the only one who knows this band? If they were going to do an anniversary tour...this is the obvious one. I'd love it if they did TJT and Achtung Baby in two different sets but then the stadiums wouldn't be selling out, now would they? I think Please is one of the most underrated songs of all time. I'd love to see them do Zooropa. I have a feeling there are surprises ahead which nobody can predict or even conceive. That's what they do best. As for them not being relevant in music anymore; why were we all so freaked about getting tickets? I disagree. I watch the audiences and there are always more youngsters appearing. One could argue music is not relevant any longer. Nobody pays for it save those of us who think they should get paid for the cds. Tix would not be $300 if all did. I'm just happy they added a second night in Chicago. I'm gonna nab a GA the day of the show and go see whatever gem they give to the Windy City because it's always something and it's usually Bad. Ever go to a U2 gig and say, "I hope they play Bad tonight.", (rather loudly) and look at all the confused faces listening? Most don't even know the song and I listen to it daily and it's still the song I most want to hear. It's even more fun to be able to say, "They played Bad last night.", and see all the worried faces thinking U2 is gonna suck live the one tour they finally decide to go see them. It's late. I've been writing for 12 hours. Perhaps this will be deleted in the morning. I was not expecting this tour at first. Once it starts, I think we'll all be happy. Albeit disjointed...that's my take. Pop is always brought up as Gender did, and I agree, but no matter what they do, it's going to be amazing. I want SOE too.
  16. Dear God, Have mercy, please. Miss the news one night... I had not seen that story. Thank you.
  17. That's helpful - thank you. I am sorry it took me so long to get in here to reply. I did not look at the link but you will be looking down and not forward so I don't think you will have any issues.
  18. I am such a dummy. I forgot: Call Ticketmaster Customer Service if you have tickets and need to have them switched to disabled/accessible seating. Don't call the number to buy tickets. They are different. Ticketmaster's customer service number is: 1-800-653-8000...this is IF you have tickets. You cannot buy tickets using that number and will be wasting precious time if you don't already have tickets. You should be able to find accessible seating online using the map in the general public sale. There is an option to just see accessible seating which is available. It is usually in the upper right quadrant of the window when purchasing seats.
  19. That is why I say get there as early as possible. Many people will not ask to be relocated. It was not necessary at Soldier Field but if this happens...I ask politely. If they do not I ask a little less politely. If not even less until I demand it. I've only had to demand it a couple times and never in Chicago. If the ticket does not say obstructed view...you have a right to a seat where your view is not obstructed or a refund. That is the law. That being said, I have seen and dealt with a man who has stacks and stacks of tickets. He has them for issues such as this in addition to other reasons. For the 360 tour I watched as people got up and went up and came back and sat in the rows in front. I literally watched it happen. I was the first to do this and we got on the aisle in the front row of my section which was right next to the stage. The next person who asked sat next to us and it continued. I cannot say this will happen. All I can say is it did, so don't lose hope. Not everyone in those seats is going to see what I'm writing nor will they know what to do so they will sit in those bad seats. I can't say enough good things about the staff at Soldier Field. It may be that this is not an issue. I fear it may so I say get there early and if it is bad...you stand the best chance and I think you are gonna be pleasantly surprised based on what I watched in the past. Soldier Field has big shows all the time. They are gonna be prepared.
  20. I would not tolerate the light from a phone for a long span of time. I'd ask them to stop. If they did not then I'd get an usher to do it. Those things are so annoying if they have the reflective light. I can't stop it but it's irritating when multitudes hold up their phones when the show opens. It used to be house to half...house to whole. Now it's house to half...house to whole...then phones bring it back up to half. Why? As Shannon387 and other say, it's not going to matter in the long run. You'll be missing out on something incredibly unique and amazing. There is no band quite like U2 live. I rediscover it every time I see them.
  21. This will be my fourth attempt at responding to your post. The first two I deleted. The third one I was SO careful not to delete and I posted it. Success! Nope. I had quoted PeterM1 which rendered it to nonsense. I did not freak, rather; copied.. only to discover that my text would not paste! lol Hopefully the fourth time is a charm... I would call the box office of the stadium as soon as they open tomorrow or when you can. Calmly explain what happened. Ask them if they can help you. If not, can someone else? Is there someone who handles accommodating accessibility patrons? If so can you speak to them? I mention these ? from experience. I had to call Soldier Field over a dozen times before I got to the right person. The stadium was closed for the season. It was a couple years ago but winter then too. That means no box office. Most stadiums are essentially renting the place to the promoter and don't bear the brunt of responsibility for the show. I finally realized the only thing open within SField was the Chicago Bears. I called them and pleaded for someone to get me to whomever could help me with accessible tickets. Luckily it worked and I get the help I need to see the shows. I'm posting all of this hoping anyone else dealing with this is reading and it helps anyone who it stuck in this situation. Getting by the operators who randomly answer calls for stadiums can be tricky because they are slammed with calls about these shows. They generally have a rehearsed answer saying call TM or something close to it because everyone is trying to get seats or get better ones. Once I got to the right persons, they were great as I got the seats I needed for a few shows now. I hope this helps and the whole unpleasant experience turns into a blessing with great seats where you need. Good Luck.
  22. Howdy neighbor. I shall be in Madison on Feb 21 and 22 to see The Head and the Heart. If you do not know this band...check them out and see if you like them. I love them. I've seen them over a dozen times now. Tickets are $42 or so. I would pay $300 to see them. (If I had it.) You are very welcome, by the way. Read what I wrote above. I wouldn't worry but get there early.
  23. If your ticket does not say obstructed view then your view should not be obstructed. However, ours were for 360. We were accommodated. I have had nothing but good experiences with this venue. My point is don't worry but get there early. Check out your seats. They may well be great. If not, ask for a relocate. They do everything possible to get you equal or better seats than you originally purchased. The earlier you get there the better your chances are for the best possible resolution and it may not even be a problem. I've always just avoided those seats after the 360 show. If they were my only option; I would buy them and ask for a relocate. The reason I posted is to tell people in those seats to get there early. I'm not sure if you are from Chicago but it is crazy insane when Soldier Field has a show. It can take an hour to go three blocks. I would be there when the gates open or shortly after the fact. If the overhang is not an issue-you have amazing seats. I would be excited.
  24. Oh gosh, thanks for the laugh. I hope it does not become triplicate.
