  1. The day before the show sometimes they stop before/after soundcheck to greet people. The day of the show sometimes they stop when they arrive at the venue. Neither is guaranteed but this is typically how people meet them on tour. Your best bet is to figure out roughly what time they tend to arrive and get there a few hours before hand to get a spot where you'll be able to physically talk to/shake hands with them. They never stop for too long though and can't get to every single person unfortunately.
  2. I think a lot of people don't realize how absolutely massive the entire stage is, and thus how much physical rail space there is for this tour. While it's never guaranteed because there are definitely variables like you said (card issues, GA line procedures, etc.) that could create problems or snags, showing up the day of can still get you a pretty good spot. If people want to show up two days before the show to get a good number to feel better, that's on them but for this tour in particular it doesn't seem you need to do that to get a good chance of finding a decent spot (unless of course you're going after one very particular spot in the crowd/on the rail) anywhere on the floor. There are certain spots that tend to fill up the fastest (like in front of Bono's mic) but nothing is set in stone.
  3. Honestly I don't think there's one good way to do it. Security just doesn't want people congregating on premises, that's their primary concern. I've seen them claim they're not going to allow any early lining up and then at X time in the morning they wristband the line first because it's organized. Fans who run the line work with security, try to help out security, and have been thanked by security for being organized. Both the lottery system and current system are good in theory. The line prevents people rushing the venue at the time security says people can line up. Say someone shows up right at 6 AM wristbanding and a couple people who got there after them manage to get in front of them. Do you think they're going to be okay with that? Multiply that by potentially hundreds of people all claiming they were there first or there before someone else and you've got people yelling and pushing. The line provides proof of time and order and has things organized early so that by the time security does wristbanding, everyone's already lined up in order. I've seen this happen. With the lottery system, yes it will potentially prevent early, or extremely early queuing. It will help make things more fair for people who can't take 2+ days off work. But it's also going to negatively impact many people. The lottery system works until you're behind twenty people who won't stop putting their cameras/phones/signs in the air and you spent $100+ on a ticket just to look at the back of a piece of paper or see the band through someone's phone and all of a sudden lottery isn't working for you. And for a lot of people they're attending their first show, their first time doing GA or can only afford to go see one show, and really want to have an amazing experience including being up front but the lottery system could rip that away from them. Or people with children who really want to be at rail so they don't have to worry about people pushing their kids, their kids getting tired or so their kids can see. There are pros and cons to both systems, there is fairness and unfairness to both systems. I personally think the best system is having someone from security, band or venue, starting the line and dictating when and where to be. Some think things are good the way they are, and some think the lottery system is the best way to go.
  4. Hey all, I'm looking for a single GA ticket for the second show on the 29th. I would like to queue as early as possible. Please message me if you have an extra! (:
  5. I paused for a minute when checking out and I saw that the fees were $5 away from being half the price of my single GA ticket. Now I can understand $5-$10 total in fees but half the price of the ticket? How do they justify this?
  6. No worries! From what I remember, P1 is roughly sections 126-129 and the 200 sections immediately above it. Same thing for the other side, it was roughly (I'm going on memory here) 103-107 and the 200 sections immediately above that. P2 was around 108-113/120-125 Sections 115 & 116 were registering as P4 seating. Obviously P4 FLR GA is the floor. P5 was the 300 levels in the 315-325 area Don't remember where P3 was but you can probably fill in the blanks/make an educated guess based on the price This isn't 100% accurate and all section numbers I listed are approximate but that was roughly what I saw when clicking the different tiers to populate the sections so don't use this as the sole basis for deciding what section to get as I could be wrong with the exact sections. But this will give you an idea of roughly where you'd be sitting based on the price bracket you select/have budgeted.
  7. I don't remember seeing it before getting to the ticket page but I knew I was after GA so I didn't pay much attention.
  8. According to their site - cheapest to most expensive is as follows: P5 is $35 - 300 level opposite end of stadium from stage P4 (GA) is $70 P4 (seating) is $70 - opposite end of stadium from stage 100 level P3 is $100 - opposite end of stadium from stage & some upper level, includes 100 level P2 is $165 - middle to opposite end of stadium from stage, 100-300 level P1 is $290 - lower seats to immediate side of stage, 100-200 level Also remember fees. I had GA and had about $30(!!!!!) in fees Hope this helps
  9. It is incredibly unlikely they will check ID, they tend not to.
  10. The weather will most likely change. As of right now it's not that high of a chance. The band will play in the rain, but if there is a thunderstorm the concert will most likely be postponed until the storm passes. I don't know what would happen if it's supposed to storm all night. Once there is the clear to resume they'll go back on. The stadium, or at least the floor, will likely clear out and head for cover which will probably cause chaos for the people who are very concerned with getting their same spot back. This same thing happened back when PJ played Wrigley.
  11. The Red Line runs all night and has a stop that's a short walk from the stadium
  12. The only problem with fan-only GA is that the tickets still manage to go on sale for thousands of dollars ($4000 for the PJ show at my city was the lowest price)
  13. I would rather hear a half-a**ed attempt at this song than not hear it at all.
  14. Check in times will depend on the person who is running the line, there is no physical way to know ahead of time. The process is that you must show up with your entire party, especially if all the tickets are one credit card or you don't mind being separated from your group in the GA line and potentially in the venue. Also, typically there are porta-potties installed for the line. Not many, and expect the toilet paper to run out or be rationed, but they should be available. And heads up, it is currently forecasted to rain but is looking like it should clear up around the time people are let in the stadium. That forecast could change up to the day of so prepare to be standing in the rain and in the sunny heat.
  15. There typically are only two lines: GA and Red Zone, nothing outside that.
  16. It's a good idea but scalpers would still manage to get tickets, and could potentially charge even more with the promise of getting preferential queueing. You'd have to figure out how to get rid of scalpers all together. edit: It also forces people out who are genuine fans but cannot afford to pay $50+ annually, or people who want to go together but are in different groups.
  17. Apps like periscope are making it worse.
  18. In the US, almost every sports venue is now a clear bag only venue, and a lot have specific sizes or styles you are allowed to have. Check with the venue in particular you are going to. The good thing is, some venues have sports shops on site that are open year round and have clear bags for sale but it will probably have the stadium or team logo on it.
  19. I am 100% positive the line will have started at least the day before. But the wonderful thing about stadium tours is you can line up the day of and still get a good view, even a good chance at rail.
  20. I would also contact the security the day of honestly. Just because someone who has a desk job inside the venue says yes, doesn't mean that information will reach the security working that day. Explain the issue to the security personnel who will most likely be handling your ticket and verify with them as well to see what they say. I'd let them know the specific name of the person you talked to at the venue too and what they said regarding the issue.
  21. I'd say have it on you but don't worry about needing to show it. Logistically there isn't time to check every single ID and get people in on time unless they want to start letting the crowd in at least an hour earlier than scheduled. I'm sure the IDs they do/have checked are case by case basis.
  22. two x Pitch 1. Looking to trade for Pitch 2 though if someone is ever so kind enough
  23. I had Pitch 2 tickets during presale. Then TM.ie had problems with my US card so I corrected that. Then my bank had problems with the purchase so I corrected that. And then TM said I exceeded the number of tries and released my pitch tickets back into the void. Then my internet went out and by the time I got it back up pitch 2 were gone. Absolutely gutted and frustrated to say the least, while I am seeing tickets for sale by people looking to make a pretty penny.
  24. Asking the obvious, but have you checked spam folder? Also I have heard of some email address providers not being reliable to receive bulk email sendouts - do you have an alternative email you could try changing to to see if that received them in future? Yes I have (: Unfortunately no presale information about Ireland dates there either. I use gmail, not sure if that is one that has an issue. My old email was an aol account. I have occasionally gotten emails to my gmail account, but most of the time my aol account receives them. However, I haven't gotten anything at all from U2.com at either email since June and that was a reminder to update my account which I had already done well before that. Not sure why my aol account would still be receiving emails in the first place.
